Chapter 3
Many thoughts ran through Sharon's head, there was no abduction in her past life.
She couldn’t figure out who the man was and what he wanted, But she cringed at the thought of dying the second time.
As he walked closer, Sharon could see the faintest scar tracing along his jawline.
The man stopped just a breath away from her, the hint of a smirk playing on his lips.
Sharon looked at him more closely, and for a minute, she felt the man looked familiar but she couldn’t figure out where he had seen him.
“Who are you?” Sharon's voice was barely a whisper, but in the hushed silence, it carried the weight of a shout.
“You are finally here.” The man said as if he had been expecting her.
Sharon's eyes widened a bit in shock.
“How are you going to pay for my debts, Ms. Sharon?” His cold voice sent cold chills down her spine.
Sharon paused for a minute.
Her brows instantly snapped together upon hearing that.
What debts?
The only debt she knew about was her father’s debt and she clearly remembered that she paid them off before her marriage to Andrew in her past life.
“Debts? W-what debts?” Her voice trembled across the room.
The man scoffed and ran his finger into his hair as he seemed frustrated by her question, Sharon panicked as the man stretched out something to her face, something like a stroll of content, it was a contract paper!
When she sighted her father’s signature on the contract paper, Sharon's face scampered even more, this isn’t how it happened in her past life. She was beginning to have a panic attack. It was not supposed to be this way.
In her present life, her father’s debt hadn’t been paid, Even the money had increased thrice the fold of what she paid in her past life.
Why is everything going off the trail?
First, it was her abduction now debts?
“I-I don’t know about what you are talking about.” Sharon stuttered.
“Your father owed me. He is dead now but you have to pay me back.” The man announced
“But I don’t have such an amount with me.”
“How am I expected to pay back such an amount?” She panicked even more
Even if she wants to pay she has yet to lay her hands on her father’s inheritance.
The man suddenly paused for a minute, he seemed to be contemplating a minute.
“What about you sign a deal with me?” He leaned close to her.
Sharon's brows snapped together. “What deal?”
“A contract deal.” He told her.
“What kind of contract are we talking about?” Sharon asked, getting more confused.
“A marriage contract.” He announced
Sharon froze in place. Marriage?
She stared at him in disbelief.
“I want you to sign a contract with me, I need a bride. You are to act like my bride for just a year.”
He paused but continued.
"This arrangement could be mutually beneficial. I clear your debts and in return, I also get what I want.” He had a satisfactory smile on his lips.
Even though she was gripped by fear Sharon found herself scoffing on the man’s face.
A marriage? The last time she tried that, she regretted her actions and that’s why she was here.
Even when she married Andrew after three years of dating she regretted Marrying him, but she got a marriage proposal from someone who she just met in a few minutes.
“No! I’m not going to get married to you.” Sharon blurted out clearly to his face
The man looked a bit taken aback seeing her reject him on the spot.
No woman had ever rejected him, not even in the two minutes that they met.
“I will find your money and pay you back In a month, but I’m never going to marry you,” Sharon added looking so determined.
Even if she had to be fast about getting her revenge on Aria and retrieving her inheritance, she would do everything possible to pay back his debts rather than get married to him
That seemed to hurt the man's feelings even more.
He was rejected in just five seconds!
“Fine, get me my money in a week and pay it back!” The man ordered and he instantly left the room in anger.
Sharon panicked even more, he told him one month not a week.
“Fine! I will.” She yelled after him.
Sharon was suddenly brought back to her senses. Even if she was to pay back in a week, she was still tied down in the room.
“Aren’t you going to free me?” Sharon yelled but there was no response.
After a few minutes, the door was opened again, and Sharon watched two men walk in. They looked quite different from the man that just left. She trembled slightly but the men only approached her and undid the knots
In quick short movements, they undid the knots around her and she was freed.
The moment she was set free. Sharon tested her feet, gradually laying her weight on them. When she was confident that she wouldn't collapse to the floor, she stood tall, stretching out the cramps on her sore body.
Before she knew it, She was thrown out of the house.
Sharon stared back at the house and cussed.
She was brought with a car but left to find her way back to the hotel on her own even without a dime on her.
Sharon looked down at herself, she was still in her nightwear. They should have allowed her to grab a jacket at least.
She was more irritated at the thought of Aria gifting her the nightwear.
Sharon took her feet and walked aimlessly on the street.
She looked back and saw how far she had walked away from her abductor's house.
She sighed and started walking again. Sharon suddenly stopped right on her track as a thought came to her.
Her brows instantly snapped tightly together. She suddenly remembered where she knew the man from.
A man who had little appearance in her past life
He was the same man whom she had only met once in her past life.
“Andrew’s stepbrother!” She exclaimed.
He didn't have much presence in her previous life and she never expected to come across him again.
Andrew and his brother had an ill relationship. Andrew hated his brother's gut so much that he had left him out of their marriage, The man had only appeared at their marriage because of the instruction given to him by their grandmother.
How come he couldn’t recognize her? It was just today!
Was it because of the veil she used? Sharon thought.
Sharon didn’t think much about it, instead, she took a turn back to his place, with a smirk plastered on her face.
She had finally found her way to get her revenge on her husband. The heavens are really behind her.
The guards at his house looked shocked seeing that Sharon was back.
Sharon managed to find her way into his luxurious living room
“Where is he? Come out now!” Sharon yelled.
She was about to be dragged out by the guards when the man's familiar voice descended from the top of the stairs.
"What are you going on about? Are you here with my debts?”
Sharon immediately looked up the stairs, where she saw the man at the top of the stairs staring down at her.
Sharon was a little taken aback. The man had looked quite different from how she had seen him the other time. He had taken a bath and changed into a casual turtle neck and pants. He had his hair set framing his perfectly sculpted face.
She was awed seeing how he looked even more good than the other time.
Sharon Ignored the thought coming to her and focused on the thing in front of her.
She looked up at him with her mind made up
“I will accept your deal. I will get married to you for a year as you want” She said but suddenly paused staring intently at his face.
“But in return, you must protect me!”
Chapter 141Matthew watched Sharon for a long moment, his eyes searching hers. He could feel a strange mix of emotions swirling inside him, but the overwhelming one was relief. She didn't push him away, not like he expected. She didn't yell, didn't accuse him. She was only calm, almost too calm, like she had accepted whatever it was that had happened between them. It was both comforting and unsettling at the same time.He took a deep breath, pushing aside his emotions for the moment. He could already feel the weight of his decision pressing on his chest. "I’ll be leaving soon," he said quietly, standing up from the chair beside her bed. "But before I go…"He pulled a cheque from his jacket pocket, the crisp paper a stark reminder of the distance between them, both literal and emotional. "I want you to take this," he said, his tone firm yet softer than usual. "It’s $50,000. It’s not much, but it’s something."Sharon looked at the cheque, her brow furrowing. She shook her head, her voi
Chapter 140 Sharon’s vision blurred as she leaned back against the passenger seat, pain pulsing through her body with every jolt of the car. Ella drove like a woman possessed, her hands gripping the wheel tightly, her foot pressing hard on the accelerator. She didn’t even seem to notice how fast they were going, speeding past streetlights and weaving through traffic. Nothing mattered to her but getting Sharon to the hospital. "Hold on, Sharon," Ella urged, her voice tight with fear. "We’re almost there." Sharon could barely respond. Her head was spinning, and her stomach felt like it was on fire. The pain from Sophie’s blow had only worsened, and she could feel a warmth trickling down her body, blood. Panic set in, but she fought it down, focusing on Ella’s words, trying to stay conscious. The hospital loomed ahead, and Ella barely slowed as she pulled into the parking lot. She rushed out of the car, barely waiting for the nurse to help them before she was ushered into the
Chapter 139Sharon and Ella walked out of the office. She had signed the correct documents, sent them out, and everything had been approved. The project was moving forward, and Sharon was preparing herself for the hard work ahead. This was her chance to take back the company, and she knew she couldn’t afford to relent. The thoughts of what she was about to do made her heart beat faster. She had to keep going. She had to stay strong. But just as they were walking down the sidewalk, Sharon suddenly stopped, her footsteps faltering.Ella noticed immediately, glancing over to her. “What’s wrong?”She didn’t expect it to hit her like this. She touched her belly instinctively, feeling the tightening sensation. The longing, anger, frustration, and that deep yearning. A desire to be near him, even though he was the last person she should be thinking about right now.Ella caught the movement and immediately understood. Her face softened with concern as she stepped closer to Sharon. “Don’t le
Chapter 138Sharon sat back in her chair, her hands steady as she signed the last of the documents that had been sitting on her desk for days. It was a simple task, yet one that had felt like it was looming over her, as if the weight of her recent troubles would stop her from getting it done. But now, she was finally on track. Her signature was swift, confident, and with it, she sent the documents off to their partners. She leaned back, a satisfied smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. The email confirmation came in almost immediately, the message saying it had been approved. Her success was undeniable, and she could already feel the wave of praise building in the air. Not just from her team, but from the shareholders. They had always been watching, and now, they were congratulating her for the success she brought to the company. "Good work, Sharon," came a voice from the doorway. A colleague had stepped in, offering a smile. "Your efforts are paying off.""Thanks," Sharon sai
Chapter 137Aria’s heart pounded as she ran through the streets, clutching her bag tightly to her side. She didn’t know why she was running, or why the fear that gripped her chest was growing with each step. But it was there, clawing at her insides, and she couldn’t stop running. Her mind raced as she replayed the events over and over in her head, Sharon’s collapse, her own actions that led to it, and now the crushing weight of uncertainty bearing down on her. She had never been afraid of consequences before. But now, something was different. She couldn’t stop herself from running.By the time she arrived back home, she was out of breath, her chest rising and falling with each heavy inhale. She slammed the door behind her, locking it with trembling hands. Her entire body felt stiff, as if she were trapped in a nightmare that she couldn’t escape. She leaned against the door for a moment, gathering herself, trying to steady the shaking of her limbs. She had to think. She had to make a
Chapter 136The next morning, Aria walked into the office, her mind was already prepared for the chaos she expected to unfold. She’d set everything up the night before, knowing that the humiliation of Sharon was only a matter of time. She had made sure the photoshopped images of Sharon would circulate, ensuring that her reputation would take a hit. The plan was perfect, or so she thought. Everything would be done once she got to find a dramatic scene. She had anticipated a dramatic confrontation, the kind of scene where Sharon would be caught off guard and fall into the trap. Instead, what greeted her was far from what she imagined. As she stepped into the office, she found Sharon laughing, a wide, genuine smile stretched across her face as she engaged with her project partners. The usual tension that Aria had hoped for was nowhere to be found. Instead, Sharon seemed completely at ease, surrounded by people who seemed to enjoy her company. Her laughter rang through the room, and Ar
