Chapter 36

Elijah:

I smiled at the sight of Anastasia who was laying on the couch of my office, scrolling through her phone.

I refused to let her out of the office knowing that she would end up getting lost in her thoughts, and keeping her close; I knew that I could at least see or feel whether or not there was a shift in her mood.

I put the papers that I was reviewing down, and got up from my chair, heading toward her. I massaged her shoulders making her smile and raise her head to look at me. Leaning down, I connected my lips with her own, the kiss tender, gentle, and loving. It was times like this when I knew that being dominant wasn’t going to take me anywhere, and seeing as she was still weak; I chose not to deepen the kiss or take things further.

She sat up, waiting for me to sit down by her side before she laid back down. Her back rested on the arm rest over my lap as I ran my fingers through her hair. She took my hand in hers, intertwining our fingers as she rested both our hands on h
