The vehicle came to a halt in front of the mansion, a building with modern architectural design.

Julia looked through the window and saw couples walking in, the ladies linking their hands on the men's arm as they entered.

As she watched them greet one another, she knew they were people in positions of power, she observed how the ladies' facial expressions demonstrated their happiness and how they appeared to carry themselves with grace, which made her feel less.

How was she going to act in the presence of so many people?

Julia let out a sigh. She knew she wasn't meant to be here. This was not where she wanted to be either.

While she was still immersed in the scene in front of her, the door opened and she looked up to see Don extend his hand in front of her.

He smiled, but she could not tell if it was genuine. With his eyes, he gestured to his hand and she immediately placed her hand in his.

Gently, she got down from the vehicle and straightened her outfit.

Julia shook a wave of blonde hair behind her ear as she wiped the table vigorously. Her mother, Mrs Bianchi, had gone out to get some stuff. They just had a few minutes till the restaurant would open. As she wiped each table, her gaze surveyed the entire area. Her father had built the place with her mother before passing away. She could still imagine him juggling the customer's orders while her mum does the cooking. A tear fell from her eye. Those days are long gone; they are now simply memories.Soon she heard a vehicle approaching, it stopped in front of the restaurant building. She was surprised to see a customer this early so she removed her apron and walked quickly to the door.Approaching her from the vehicle was not just one but three assumed customers.“Good day, sirs. We are not fully open yet; would you want to-”Her words were cut short with a quick shove from one of the men. The three men dressed in dark suits entered the restaurant and began scanning the whole space as if

“Bring her to me at all costs” His voice thundered, “but I must not find a scratch on her.” He added in a cold tone as his men scurried away. Their fear of him was always at a high peak. After they had left, he took his seat at the table of his magnificent office. He leaned back in the chair and pulled a cigar out of a drawer while he waited for his new sex item to arrive. He had heard about the drama that unfolded at the restaurant and now he can't wait to see the girl that dared to confront his men. Brittany brought Julia to a room, it was huge and aesthetically pleasing in comparison to the house she and her mother lived in. She felt as if it had been deliberately designed for her, but that thought alone was horrifying.A minute later, someone knocked on the door and peered inside. It was Marcello. He signaled to Brittany who walked out with him.A few seconds later, she returned to the room and approached where Julia was standing.“You're quite lucky on your first day,” She started then threw her hands round the room, “This would be your room.”Julia shot her a look, “Why am I lucky?”The brunette looked at Julia, then laughed softly, “If you want to survive here like the other bitches, you need to tone your character down. All these shits you're displaying won't get you anywhere,” She paused, then added, “Don Rossini is the boss here and he gets whatever he wants, the earlier you learn that, the better it would be for you.”Julia said nothing. “Get yourself cleaned up.” Don said, before walking out of the office. He headed immediately to the rooftop, which was his normal area for clearing his mind. He brought out a cigar from the pocket of his dark pants and lit it. He had just had a very good time with his new girl and the thought of it made him chuckle. However, there was a problem. He was unusually drawn to her in some manner. Was it her bold and daring personality?, he thought, before shaking his head in denial. After all, he has been with lots of women and he has not felt a thing for them. To him, they were just for sex, pleasure and nothing more. Don was still absorbed in his thoughts when his personal assistant cleared his throat. He turned to face the young man by his side. “I noticed you were so deep in thoughts so I wanted to bring your mind back.” He started. “I have a job for you and I need you to be discreet as always,” Don said, ignoring Marcello's words, “I would need you to watch Martin closely. • The Mafia's Angel    CHAPTER THIRTY: The Sight of Her

Julia stood in front of the standing mirror in her room. She couldn't bring herself to believe she was still the same Giulia, the only daughter of Bianchi. Adorned in a red long evening gown with a front slit and an open back, she marveled at the way it fitted her body. Her hair was left to flow, just as her boss preferred, and her face was made up softly to highlight her angelic features. Standing before the mirror, she pondered whether she was truly fitted for this kind of life. It suited her, but it was not her type. She had initially thought she would accompany him as his personal servant, just as he has told her, but that was no longer the case. She was going with him as his lady! “Girl, you look gorgeous!” Brittany exclaimed, after assisting her in putting on her stiletto heels, “I would die to have this body shape.” Julia only smiled. Of course, she had a very attractive shape. “Wow!” Brittany said, still taken aback by the woman standing in front of her. “Thank you f

Martin paced around his room, holding his envelope in hand. He smiled as he took another look at it.The senator had been kind enough to extend the invitation to him as well but it felt weird. What kind of stunt did the man intend to pull off? He questioned, in his mind.Last time he heard about the senator was when he broke off all ties with his father, blaming him and his mother for the tragic occurrence. As he placed the invitation on his bed, he grinned. No matter what, he had to take this invite positively and as an opportunity to secure a safe ground for himself. He knew there would be prominent men and women present, people who could help bring down his rival. At the thought of this, he nodded to himself. It was a brilliant move, which he had to carry out in secret. ***Julia heard a knock and got up to open it. “Hello lover girl,” Brittany said as she walked in.“Um hi,” Julia said as she stared at the lady in a sexy short gown, wondering

Donatello was in his room when he heard a knock. He has invited you to his opening gala.” Marcello handed him the invitation. His boss quickly opened it and scrammed through the paper.“An opening gala?” “Yes, boss, and he has extended a special invitation for you to attend with your lady.” Marcello said.Don shot him an inquisitive look. Was his aide trying to mock him?“You’re dismissed.” Don said, waving him off.Marcello bowed and exited the room. After he left, Don looked at the invitation once more. The senator took his time to specifically invite him, even though he can not recall the last time he attended a gala or any party.“It appears that some friendships last after death,” he said to himself.Senator Vincenzo was one of h

Julia's heart thudded in her chest as her boss firmly gripped her wrist. He was staring at her with his eyes wide open. Soon, a tear escaped his tear gland and slipped out of his eyes. Julia watched in terror, unsure of what had gone wrong. It was the first time she had seen her boss tear up, and it bothered her. Then, as if in a bad dream, he closed his eyes and started shaking his head. As soon as she saw this, Julia took his hand and started to gently stroke it until he relaxed. Her mother taught her this technique, which she typically uses to help her relax whenever she is experiencing anxiety or a nightmare. Soon, he was back to normal and Julia watched him relax while gazing at his serene face. Who would have guessed that her tough boss could be so weak? When she was certain he would be okay, she decided to let go of him, but he refused. “Stay.” he muttered. So Julia curled up beside him, still shaking from fear. Was this right? Was she supposed to be so close to
