Chapter 6: The little secret

Elsie POV

“Princess, are you ready?” I called her from the kitchen. Dexter helped to dress her up, so I won’t bother about that, but sometimes it took too much time for them since they were busy playing around, and I have to do the duty to remind them about the time. That has been our new routine for the last two weeks from the time we started sending her to school.

“Ready, mommy. Be right there,” I heard her voice from behind. I was in the midst of preparing breakfast. I took the last piece of pancake from the pan and placed it on the plate before turning around and looked at both of them that were standing beside me.

“You look pretty as always princess,” I said after kissing her cheek.

“How about me, love?” Dexter interrupted us with his face moving closer to me. I rolled my eyes at him, but still gave him a kiss on the cheek, and he smiled with satisfaction.

Andrea crossed her arms on her chest and making a pout with her plump lips. She pretended to clear her throat, “Excuse me, there is a kid in the room.” We couldn't help but laugh at her action.

“Oops, sorry, sweetheart. We are too in love that we forget that you’re here with us.”

She rolled her eyes in a funny way. “I’m hungry. Can I have breakfast now?”

“Alright, alright, let us feed you with a lot of food and turn you into a chubby princess.”

“No, I want to be a beautiful princess.”

I shook my head, looking at them bickering with each other. The mansion will never be in a quiet environment if they were together, but that was the best thing about living with them. The happiness that comes naturally.

After done with breakfast, we were getting ready to send Andrea to her school. Dexter will drop her at the school before attending whatever business that I don’t have any idea about it.

“See you later, princess. Make sure to be a good girl at school.” I kissed both of her cheeks while placing her bag beside her.

“Okay, mommy. I will be a good girl as always. Kiss-kiss.” She returned the kisses on my cheek before allowing me to close the door.

“And you too, husband, behave while you’re outside. Don’t be naughty.” I adjusted the collar of his shirt. His hand grasped my chin before slightly craning my head so that I could gaze into his eyes.

“My naughtiness only appears when you’re around me.” The naughty smile that plastered on his face didn’t go unnoticed.

“Let’s see about that.” I narrowed my eyes at him. He pulled me closer by my waist and placed a kiss on my forehead before pecked me on the lips. We were interrupted by the cute voice through the car window.

“Daddy, can you continue kissing mommy later after you send me to school? I will be late, daddy.” She displayed her irritated face while glancing at both of us. We laughed at her nagging state.

“Okay, okay. Don’t get angry, sweetheart.” He said in his laughter.

“See you later, love. I need to go before someone keeps nagging in the car.” He whispered the last part so that Andrea won’t hear that.

I giggled at his statement. “See you later. Love you.”

“Love you too.” He mouthed the phrase and winked at me before entering the car. I stood there looking at them until the car was totally gone from my sight. I can’t stop smiling thinking about them.

“Mommy, where is daddy?” She looked around, trying to trace Dexter’s presence in the house but only two of us on the table with some maids helping us to set up the table for dinner.

“Daddy will be late today, princess. So, only two of us will be having dinner together, is that okay for you?”

“Of course, no problem, mommy. I like having dinner with you.” She grinned when I helped her to sit in her place.

“What do you want?” I asked since there were few choices of food on the dining table.

“Can you give me that chicken, please, mommy?” She asked politely.

“Sure, princess,” I placed a drumstick on a small plate, “Should we add some salad, too?” I pointed at the salad in the bowl.

“Ok, I can eat that.”

“That’s my girl.” I praised her, glad that she wasn’t too picky about her food, and it was easy to convince her to eat something healthy. I quickly scooped some salad and put it on the plate that was filled with the drumstick.

“Mommy, I want to tell you something.” She whispered the sentence before looking around, eyeing the surrounding.

“Is anything wrong, princess?” I glanced at her with a suspicious look.

“Nothing wrong, but I want to tell you one secret.”

“Wow, secret,” I spoke with an amused voice before continuing, “What is that about?” I was mimicking her, whispered the question in a low tone.

“But you have to promise me that you won’t tell anyone about this.” Her face looks serious, and it really caused my curiosity to increase.

“Anyone including daddy?” I asked suspiciously. She nodded, still maintained her serious face.

“This sounds serious now-”

“I’m serious, mommy. Promise me?” She put down her fork and moved her hand closer in a pinky promise sign.

“Promise,” I accepted her hand and pressed our thumbs together to seal the deal. She is eyeing the surroundings one more time before starting to talk.

“I have a boyfriend.” Her cute gesture caught my attention when she smiled sheepishly and covered her mouth with her palm.

“You what?” I can’t believe what she just told me. I burst out in laughter with her bold confession. If only Dexter heard about it. Now I understand why she asked to keep this away from Dexter. He will freak out, that was no doubt.

“How he looks like? Is he cute?”

“Yes, mommy. He is cute, just like me. Can you send me to school tomorrow, mommy? I will show you.”

“Oh, so I get the privilege to be the first one to know about your boyfriend?” I played along with her, understand what the meaning of boyfriend at her age is.

“I know daddy will get angry if he finds out about this, so we can’t tell him about this. Only you know about my secret, mommy.” She whispered the last part with her little hand covered her mouth.

“Ok, now mommy is excited. I will convince daddy to send you to school tomorrow. We need to make a plan tonight.” I talked to her like a detective.

“Sweetheart, love, I’m back!” We were shocked when we heard the familiar voice that we were just mentioned a moment ago. We looked at each other with widened eyes and parted mouth. She placed her index finger on her lips, signaling me to close the topic which I nodded and did the same to her.

“What are you two talking about?” We turned to the source of the voice at the same time. I couldn’t hold myself anymore and laugh so hard at our situation. Andrea did the same too, as she was giggling on her seat.

“I smell something fishy here. Spill it out.” Dexter said, narrowing his eyes on us.

“Nothing, Dexter. Girl’s topic, you shouldn’t get involved.” I answered him with a wide smile on my face.

“Yeah, daddy. Girl’s topic.” Andrea supported my words and resume her dinner, totally ignored him.

“God, I can’t wait anymore. Love, give me a baby boy. I need someone to team up with me badly.” He said jokingly, but with his serious face while taking a seat across us.

“Keep waiting, Dexter.” I retorted while laughing. I grabbed the empty plate from the maid and helped to fill the plate with salad and potato. I placed it in front of him taking the sign that he hasn’t eaten yet.

“Tell me about your school today, sweetheart.” He grabbed the spoon. His words caused both of us to glance at each other again, which he noticed right away.

“I’m sure there’s something that both of you were hiding from me.”

We pretended not to hear anything and busy eating our dinner. Just like that, we let the time passed and our secret still secure.
