Rin’s POV

I was completely consumed by the heat.

I was being torn apart from the inside out by a storm that was more than simply fire in my veins. My body trembled violently when my knees struck the ground. My throat scratched like glass with each breath.

"Rin!" Above me, Thorne's voice boomed, piercing, anxious, and too near. His firm yet urgent hands seized my shoulders.

Weakly, I shoved at him. "D-don't—don't come near me."

"You're on fire." He clenched his fingers. "Remain with me."

My vision became blurry. My body was at a loss for what to do. I went between wanting to fight and collapsing into him and letting him carry me. I was being pulled in different directions by my tangled instincts.

"I am unable to" I clutched my chest as I gasped. "This heat isn't normal, it's different."

Thorne swore under his breath. "I'll take you to the doctor. Right now.

"No", I tried to push back, but I was weak. My body trembled as though it belonged to someone else, betraying me. Thick and heavy,

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Heat   Neither Alpha nor Omega

Rin’s POVI was disgusted by the mirror.I was standing there, holding the sink so tightly that the porcelain was on the verge of breaking. Strange and piercing, my reflection looked back at me like a stranger trapped within my flesh. I had a harder-looking jaw. My shoulders are slimmer and wider. My eyes—my eyes, God. They were neither Omega silver nor Alpha gold, but they shone dimly in the dim toilet light. Something in the middle, something off.The glass was fogged by my breath. My aroma, thick and complex, twisted like smoke, clung to the air. Alpha, Omega. Both. Not at all."Who are you in the hell?" I said. There was no response from the face in the mirror.I couldn't help but think of the doctor's words: Rin, you're a chimera.I pushed my hands flat against the sink, attempting to stabilise myself, but my stomach churned like I was about to puke. I didn’t feel like myself anymore. My body wasn’t mine. I didn't trust my instincts. The worst thing? There was a part of me that e

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Heat   The Omega Scientist

Rin’s POV"Eros Project? I said it again, the name grating like shattered glass on my throat.Thorne remained unflinching. The dim city lights outside highlighted his broad shoulders as he stood near the window. Too serene for the tempest he had just let loose in my chest, he appeared more like a shadow than a man."Yes," he answered in a bland voice. "That's the name they gave it."I gave a headshake. "What in the world does that mean? A code name, perhaps? A match? Be honest with me.When Thorne turned at last, his eyes were heavy and older than I had ever seen. "It began many years ago. An Omega researcher. Wonderful. Risky. He thought Alphas possessed an excessive amount of power and authority. He attempted to amend the rules.I scowled. "Rewrite the rules? "Thorne's eyes remained fixed. His goal was to overthrow Alpha domination. Disobey the order. Make the hierarchical level. Make Alphas weak or get rid of them completely.Nothing about this was humorous, but I laughed sourly.

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Heat   Blood on Thorne’s Hands

Rin’s POVIt was two nights before I saw Thorne again. His clothes smelled of smoke and iron, and he arrived home late and silent. His hands were rigid as if they had been holding something for too long, and his mouth was clenched. He didn't speak to me at all. I simply walked to the restroom, turned on the shower, and spent over an hour there. But the smell persisted no matter how much water was used.Blood.I tried to convince myself that I was dreaming. That perhaps Kai's words were driving me crazy and making me smell things that weren't there. Then I heard the rumours, though. In the alleys, whispers. Dealers are going missing. A body, its face too shattered to identify, had been pulled out of the river. Mafia-related men are suddenly "missing."And the same name was in every whisper.Lucavir Thorne. On the third night, I located him at his office. His shirt was partly unbuttoned, and his tie was unfastened as he sat at his desk. Beside his hand was an unopened glass of whiskey.

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Heat   The Friend with Teeth

Rin’s POVRain and smoke filled the night. My boots splashed across tiny puddles as I hurried along the lane. Anger, not fear, was the reason my heart pounded.Kai would be here, I knew. Like a game, he always lurked in the shadows, waiting for danger.I also had no intention of playing tonight.I noticed the same arrogant smirk on his lips as he leaned against a brick wall, a cigarette blazing between his fingers. He exhaled smoke into the night air and began to say, "Well, if it isn't my favourite little experiment." "I didn't think you would find me so quickly."My hands were clenched as I charged at him. "Stop smiling. Be honest with me. Right now.Kai pretended to appear innocent as he cocked his head. What is the truth? Darling, you'll need to be particular. Every week, you attack me in this manner. He was about to finish his smirk when I slammed him into the wall. I put my hand firmly on his chest. He let his cigarette fall to the floor."The pill. The briefcase. "Everything,"

  • The Mafia's Forbidden Heat   The Briefcase in Black

Rin’s POVThat night, I was unable to sleep. I always saw it when I closed my eyes—the party's elegant black suitcase. I recalled how the stranger had carried it as if it didn't matter, and how shiny its metal edges were. No label. Not a mark. That's what I thought, anyway. However, I had a gut feeling that it wasn't random. That night had been anything but random.I rubbed my face while sitting upright on the couch. Still, I felt as though my body was torn between Alpha and something else. I was made fun of by the suppression pills on the table. They were no longer very helpful. Instead of transferring blood, my veins burned as if they were carrying fire.Nevertheless, one notion remained clear despite the fog: that briefcase.I paced the room while standing and taking, "Damn it." "What was within? Who sent it?I remembered the picture of Kai's smile. It had been passed on by that Beta bastard. "Favour," he had told her. A present. Unbeknownst to me, he had placed the pill in my mout
