LOGINCeline's POV
Before I could get a word out, he threw me over his shoulder. "Dave!" I yelled, punching his back. He didn't stop, nor did he let go. He took me to the car and threw me inside like I weighed nothing. I let out a grunt, just to deceive him, to make him think I was hurt, and that worked. He halted and moved closer. I ran a slap across his face immediately, breathing hard. "Stop trying to control my life," I bellowed. Dave clenched his jaw; he looked furious, but I didn't care. All I cared about was that he'd scared Max away, that he'd ruined my normal life. Now Max was going to spread rumors, and everyone would stay away from me again. "What was that for?" he turned to me, jaw tightened. "For scaring my boyfriend away. You have no right," I yelled at him. He moved fast and got into the car, forcing me to move in. His hands gripped the door behind me, and he glared into my eyes. "Do you know your so-called boyfriend was sent to monitor you?" I paused for a second, searching Dave's eyes. *What?* Max was just a sweet, rebellious guy who liked me. He'd shown interest in me the first day we met, when he almost ran me over. "That's not possible…" I tried to argue, but Dave's glare shut me up. I felt his hands clench so hard; he didn't seem angry at me, more at himself. If Max was really a spy sent to monitor me, then Dave must be blaming himself right now. *He always does.* When my parents died, when I was lying almost dead on the hospital bed, when I was attacked and almost thrown down the terrace. I bit my lip and looked away from him. Dave's breath came out heavily and he moved away. He rubbed his temple slightly and turned to Jeff, who was sitting in the driver's seat. "Let's go," he said. I turned sharply to him. "What about my classes?" "You're no longer going to school there. You're coming back with me," he announced, like it was nothing. My eyes widened in anger. First, he'd suddenly forced me to leave and live in a place I never knew. And now he was just taking me back like I was property of his. "You just think you can decide my life?" I snapped, pulling him back. He tried to speak, but I shut him off and continued. "This is my life, Dave. You don't just make decisions over me, I'm not some property you own and can just…" I didn't get to finish; Dave cut in. "I'm protecting you!" he yelled. I froze for a second. That word, I was sick of hearing it. "Why?" I snorted. "You have Sabrina now. Why don't you worry about her instead? I'm no longer your concern, remember?" Then I turned to Jeff. "Open the door, I'm getting out." I tugged at the handle before I'd even finished my sentence. Dave grabbed my arm and yanked me toward himself. My palms landed on his chest as I tried to push away. "No one is as important as you," he said, gazing into my eyes. I wanted to believe him, I did. But that was before he broke his promise. So I pushed away, but his arms grabbed mine in one grip. "Stop being stubborn for once and just do as I say," Dave said frustratedly. I refused. I knew I was being stubborn, unreasonable, but I didn't care. Being the only Sawyer blood, many bad people would want me, but right now, I just wanted to hurt him, to make him feel so upset he'd lost his mind. "You're powerful, right? Everyone fears you. So keep me safe, here," I demanded. Dave stared at me. I could feel his anger, but what could he do? I was too precious for him to hit. "You could be in fucking danger, Celine," he said, calling my name. I smirked and crossed my arms. "Then protect me. Here, in Atlantic City. I'm not going back," I said. It only took a moment before Dave gave in. He let out a low grunt and clenched his hand, but I didn't care. I wanted him to be with me, not go back to Sabrina. "Fine," he breathed. "But you've got to listen to me." I flipped my hair back and faced forward. "Depends on how good you are at coaxing me," I told him. Dave let out a hard sigh and rested back on the seat. He gestured to Jeff with his fingers, and he started the car immediately. I grinned as we drove back to the house. My phone chimed in my pocket, and I took it out to see a call from Tyra. The moment I picked up, her voice rang with alarm. "Where are you, girl?" I glanced at Dave. "With my uncle." He turned to look at me and his countenance shifted. "Who is that?" I ignored him. "I'm sorry, I can't make it today. Let's meet up tomorrow?" I asked. No sooner had I let those words out than Dave snatched my phone from my ear and threw it out the window. My eyes widened in fury; I turned with a dead glare, but he grabbed my wrist instead. "How dare you still talk to him while I'm sitting right here?" he growled. "I was talking to Tyra," I fired back. He let go of my wrist, and I grunted angrily, wishing I could get out of the car, away from him immediately. When the car stopped, I didn't wait a second before I got out and walked into the house, slamming the door after me. I hurried into my room, turned to lock the door, but Dave was right behind me. He grabbed the door and stopped me. I didn't let go; I tried to push against him. After a hard struggle, I gave up and let go of the door. I walked into the room, grabbed the first thing my hand caught, and was about to throw it at him when he caught my wrist again and yanked the pillow to the floor. He pushed me to the dresser table, and his arm caught my back firmly to stop me from crashing. His other hand grabbed my chin, lifting it up and forcing me to look at him.Celine's POV"Dave..." My voice came out weakly. His countenance shifted immediately, worry flashing in his gaze."What?" He moved back to the bed.I stared into his eyes and couldn't find a word to say. *Maybe I should just act it, like how I always pretended to be sick to get him back home.*I leaned closer and rested my head on his shoulder, my hand not letting go of his.He waited, but I just pressed my lips harder, not sure what I was doing."Why are you suddenly being clingy?" Dave asked, his fingers in my hair.My head raised up. It doesn't seem to be working. Provocative? I wondered, hesitating.Dave's phone rang, ruining my chance to try again, and I watched him pick up. In a second, he got up and his face clouded."Hm," he simply said and ended the call."What is it?" I asked. He never really involves me in his business, it was his way of protecting me."Nothing. I'll be back," he said and walked out.I stared at his disappearing figure and inhaled deeply, falling onto my ba
Celine's POVFaye grabbed my glass and glared at me."Boss will kill me if you go back home drunk," she said.I scoffed, and pushed her hand off."Don't be uncool now," I took a mouthful of the drink. It's sweet, yet intoxicating. Just like how Dave's lips tasted.I wanted to drink more, but Faye stopped me again."You can have fun without getting drunk," she said.I sighed and tried to grab the drink away, but she beat me to it and drank it down.A little chuckle left my lips. I rested my hand on the table and my face on my palm."You know, I didn't like you at first," I blurted. "I thought you'd be another Sabrina.""That bitch," I cussed, heat rising on my face in hate as I thought of her.Faye poured herself another drink. "She really is."My eyes flashed up hearing her agree with me. A happy chuckle escaped me as I lifted my head up."You think so too? Annoyingly, Dave didn't think that."I said, my face turning blue. The moment was interrupted by Tyra, who appeared with three gu
Celine's POVI pulled at Dave's arm to stop him, but he was just too stubborn. He had insisted on walking me right to the classroom. I looked frantically around as a few students glanced in our direction, murmuring as they walked past. When we got to the classroom, he let go of my hand and turned to me. "Faye will be waiting for you. Don't go anywhere else," he said.I wanted to refuse, but I nodded. The lecturer was coming in now. I pulled away from him and hurried into class. I found Tyra and quickly sat beside her, my gaze shifting to the door, Dave was still standing there.I noticed the attention he was getting without even making an effort, and a jealous frown crept onto my face. Then I decided to do something, to show that he was already mine.I looked in his direction and blew a hard, loud kiss at him before giving a flirtatious wink. That caught everyone's attention and they all turned to me; some immediately wore an upset expression while others became jealous."Girl, you're
Celine's POVI continued to walk ahead and Faye followed behind. When I saw that she was close enough, I halted suddenly and turned to confront her."I have to go this way," Faye spoke before I could.I blinked, surprised. She didn't wait, and turned to the left and began to walk away. Was I wrong? I scrunched up my face. Did he really let me go without a guard? I should feel good, but crazily, I felt upset.Just as I stomped my feet and was about to continue, Ethan suddenly appeared. I almost jumped backward, a frown invading my expression. Before I could think to scream, the boys with him charged forward and covered my mouth. They dragged me with them and stopped at a secluded place, throwing me against the wall."We meet again," Ethan said, moving forward. My feet shifted back slowly, watching my steps and looking for a direction to escape. "Unfortunately," I muttered. He chuckled, the sound making my face scowl harder."You still owe me, Celine Sawyer," his voice turned hostile ag
Dave's POVThe moment Celine walked back inside, I turned to Faye."She doesn't seem to like you."Faye lifted her head and walked closer, standing beside Jeff."It will take time, but I will charm her soon," she replied.I nodded.Knowing how much Celine hates bodyguards, I needed a way to keep one closely by her side."Make sure she doesn't suspect anything," I added, and turned to Jeff.He handed me the report for the monthly data of our businesses in Atlantic City. The numbers were a bit disturbing, I might as well deal with that while I'm here.I still had my eyes focused on the screen when Celine walked back out.I moved to set down the tablet, glancing at her when my eyes caught what she was wearing. I stopped halfway. My eyes trailed from the curve of her shoulder down to the sway of the fabric against her waist.Heat crept up my neck and my throat felt dry, my hand tightened around the phone and I straightened. She put on a smile the second our gazes caught, a sweet, innocent
Dave's POVFuck! I really want to kiss her right now.The clothes she's wearing, I could see her body. The soft delicate skin seemed to glow the more I stared at her.I clutched my hand that rested against the dresser and tried to keep a hard expression to conceal what I was actually feeling."You can get angry at me, but never lock me out," I warned, staring in between her eyes. Her jaw tightened in anger as she tried to turn away from me again. I stopped her, yet my gaze flipped just for a second to her neck. That would be crazy, I told myself, but then I leaned down before I could stop myself and my lips crashed against her soft skin.I gave her a bite, restraining myself from actually tasting her. She seemed shocked and stiff for a moment, but she didn't stop me.That made me greedy for more. I lost control in the blink of an eye, and my grip tightened around her chin as I tilted her head a little for better access.I bit a little too hard and she let out a cry. I paused for a sec
