“Are you expecting someone?” Maria's eyes fluttered as she scanned from the door to my face. I shook my head in response because I was tired and had no idea if anyone was coming here to see me.

“Let me get the door then”. She offered and got up from her seat. She had already taken off her shoes so she walked barefoot till she got to the door. The shuffling and rustling sound of the keys hit my ears. She struggles to open the door.

I heard her greet someone with a smile spreading to her ears and then she let the fellow in. I was curious waiting for the person to show up with a lingering smile on my face only to see Dominico walk in dressed in a black suit. He had a bunch of fresh red roses in his hand.

“I'm so sorry I couldn't make it to the funeral. Your father's funeral”.

“He is not my father” I corrected her for the upteeth time. I have no business with and she's got one with my family. I told him rudely.
