Mia’s POV

I finally left Agent Thompson in the spot—not long enough. But I sure enjoyed the little trauma I brought to his face. Watching him squirm, the lines on his forehead knotting like someone who had just realized the rug had been pulled right out from under his feet—it was a kind of twisted satisfaction I hadn’t felt in a while. I didn’t even say much, just showed up, and that alone was enough to mess with his rhythm, not to talk of the little conversation that ensued between us. It told me more than any report could: he wasn’t used to being challenged, and he definitely wasn’t used to people showing up in places he thought were locked tight.
