Alex sat in his dark study as rain lashed on the windows with gentle thunderstorms. He sat behind his desk with some pieces of paper in front of him, a glass of whisky and a piece of kit.
It was indeed a good evening. He had spent the last couple of days striking Vincenzi and his allies. “This is not the end, Vincenzo and Vanessa. I will make sure your heads are brought to me,” he smirked, but his thought quickly shifted to Lillian.
Her face tormented him. Her blue eyes, the curve of her lips when she snapped at him, and the way her red dress clung to her hips that morning.
Alex ran his hand through his dark hair, his jaw tightening in frustration. He had never been this distracted by a woman.
He always had control of his world and thoughts, but not anymore, yet Lilian did it without struggle.
Lilian stirred in her room; the thunderstorm and the thought of Alex gave her a sleepless night. She couldn't get over what happened between them in the morning. She sat up, her silk nightdress hugging her body.
Her throat was parched. She walked barefoot downstairs to get a glass of water, but her heart knew better.
She had been wanting to see Alex since she hadn't seen him after he left during breakfast. She was getting drawn to him, if she wouldn't admit it.
As she returned upstairs with a glass in her hand, a deadening crack of thunder hit the walls. Lilian gasped; the water poured on her, and the glass slipped and shattered on the floor.
The study door opened, and Alex's eyes met hers. Lilian quickly squatted to pick up the broken bottles.
“I’m sorry, sir, I got scared of the storm…” she explained, “I will clean this up,”
Alex quickly reached for her arm.
“Don’t pick those. You may injure yourself. I'll get someone to clean that,” he said.
Immediately, there was another thunderstorm, and Lilian quickly rushed into Alex’s arms, holding him tight.
Alex's eyes softened and narrowed as Lilian stood frozen in his arms. Her wet nightgown revealing her body and her loose hair.
“You’re safe, Lillian.” Alex whispered. “Come stay with me in the study. It’s soundproof. You have nothing to worry about in there,” he said.
They both walked into the study, and Lilian stood to the side. Alex noticed her wet nighties, and he unbuttoned his shirt to cover Lillian.
Her eyes widened in surprise. “I… I didn't mean to…” she stuttered, feeling vulnerable as her gaze dropped to his chest.
“You’re shaking,” Alex observed. He covered Lillian with a little blanket and moved close to her to keep her warm.
“I’m not afraid,” she lied. Her body betrayed her, and she leaned towards him. Sniffing his cologne and smoke wrapped around her.
“Liar,” Alex smirked and gently brushed her hair. His touch was fire, sending shivers down Lilian’s spine.
“You are scared of storms, of me,” he whispered as his gaze locked on her lips. “What else are you scared of?”
Lilian inhaled deeply, her body moving closer to Alex. “Being your prisoner,” she whispered, but her hands betrayed her and reached for his arms.
Her gaze was on him. She hated it, but she had been craving him since their first kiss.
Alex's eyes darkened, “You are not my prisoner, you’re mine.” he said, his voice low and deep.
His hands slid to her waist, and his lips crashed into hers. A kiss that was of fire, no hesitation, no mercy but burned with desire.
Lilian gasped into his mouth. Her hands tangling in his hair, desperate for him. The kiss deepened, and he slightly raised her wet nightdress up as he pressed her against the desk.
His hands roamed her hips, causing her to melt in his arms. She moaned, a soft, desperate sound, and her body arched into him, craving more despite the voice screaming to stop.
His lips trailed her neck. “You drive me insane,” he growled.
“Then why fight it?” she gasped. She hated how easily he got to her, but the spark was addictive.
Alex pulled back, his eyes filled with desire. “There are protocols to follow, and you are not ready for me,” he growled, his hands still gripping her hip.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“My world will break you, Lilian. And I…” He paused. “I don't want that.”
“Stop deciding what I can handle,” Lilian snapped, placing her hand on his bare chest.
Alex quickly removed her hands from his. His jaw clenched. “I need to have your consent if you are ready for me,” he said and took a few steps back, leaving her cold.
“You married me without my consent. What consent do you seek?” She asked, biting her lips again, which made Alex lean in.
Before Alex could respond, there was a knock on the door. “Sir, there’s a perimeter breach. Suspects are Vincenzo’s men. We need you now,” the bodyguard said.
Alex’s eyes darkened, and he turned to Lilian. “Stay here. Lock the door. Do not go anywhere,” he ordered.
“I don't need your protection. I can protect myself,” Lilian snapped.
Alex's expression hardened. “Stay here and do not move,” he ordered, the storm rage outside causing Lillian’s heart to skip. Feeling confused, she quietly watched as Alex walked out of the study.
As Alex walked through the hallway, his mind raced.
‘I can't imagine an intruder would get into my estate, especially now that I made Lilian my wife. She is my responsibility, and I must protect her from this life, from any of these.
I will make sure that the intruder doesn't see the sun rise tomorrow.’
Alex couldn't understand why he was filled with so much rage and dominance. This isn't the first time an intruder has broken into his estate. He couldn't tell if he was doing this to protect his mansion or his wife.
He had never felt the need to protect a woman the way he is protecting Lillian.
Lillian’s POV:After a long drive, we arrived at our destination. Alex’s bodyguards led the way to the elevator, and we followed. The elevator chimed, and we arrived at a penthouse. The whole penthouse was beautifully decorated with a lot of luxurious furniture. I admired the whole house, but that’s not what I want right now. I refused to look at Alex, but I could feel his presence. He was standing right behind me. I was shown to my room, and I hurriedly rushed to go inside and wallow in my sorrows. What can I do? Alex owns me, so I always do as he says. I was about to shut my room door when Alex called out. “Lillian!”I stood frozen at the room door and swallowed hard. For a moment, I considered ignoring him, but his tone was filled with rage. I exhaled slowly and walked to the lounge where he was seated. “You called me,” I responded. He stood up like a king, his height dominating mine, and his grey eyes turned dark. He tightened his fist, and his jaw clenched. “Are you playin
Lillian’s POV:I sat in the SUV with Alex seated beside me. It was a cold and silent drive. My vision was still blurry, and all I could see were blurred neon lights from the streets. Liam’s words replayed in my mind. “She means nothing to me.” “Please don't shoot. I am expecting a child with my fiancé.”Those words made tears roll down my eyes, and I couldn't hold them back. I trusted Liam with everything in me, or maybe I was too blind to see that he never loved me.After a short while, we arrived at Alex’s mansion. I could see tonnes of bodyguards surrounding the compound compared to the men that were out guarding the compound when I left the house. It seems Alex had ordered more men to surround the house. I wondered if it could be because of my disappearance or his enemies' assassins. The car came to a halt. Alex hurriedly got out, and I followed from behind. I could feel his anger as he walked. He lit his cigarette, and smoke trailed behind him.The room felt very warm, but I ne
Lillian’s POV: My heart pounded fast in my chest, and my eyes widened. Liam stood frozen with his eyes wide in terror. Alex stormed into the room. His imposing tall, muscular figure looked intimidating. Behind him, his bodyguards followed. Their boots hitting hard against the floor, and within seconds, they surrounded the room. “What the fuck are you doing here, Lillian?” Alex growled; his eyes were filled with rage as he spoke. His gaze moved to Liam, which caused Liam to lose his balance and fall to the ground in fear. Alex took a few steps forward, and he brought out a gun from his pocket, which caused my breath to cease. My chest became tight as I felt Alex's gaze on me. That's when I realised that it wasn't even worth it to foolishly go after a man whom I thought loved me, but he doesn't. At that moment I began to feel regret and hoped I could just rewind back time.Standing across the room, I could see the fear in Liam’s eyes. Alex took a few steps closer; his boots were
Lillian’s POV:The evening was extremely silent. The rain had subsided with a little bit of drizzle. I had returned back to my room from Alex’s study. I carefully retrieved her phone from the study, which was seized by Alex. I had to know what was going on, even if I was now a prisoner for somebody. I turned it on and searched for her voicemail, expecting to see Liam's calls or texts, but I saw none. Each voicemail and message was from neighbours and friends, which made me a little curious. ‘What is going on with Liam? ‘Is he safe?’I asked myself multiple questions with my eyes darting around the room. I scrolled through my photos and found good photos of me and Liam, which made me clutch the phone to my chest. Alex had taken my phone when he took me, and he slid it into his pocket. “For your safety, Lillian,” he said, locking eyes with me. “Fuck you, Alex,” I sighed and bit my lips, hoping to come up with an idea. I need to speak with Liam.I decided to dial Liam’s number multi
Alex’s POV:Vicenzo’s men, the fugitives, were chained in my basement. The five intruders knelt down in a row as their wrists and legs were tied. Their faces were bruised and swollen from the beating my guards had given them. I stood before them, my gaze boring into theirs as they gasped for air. My presence alone was enough to make the men nervous and scared for their lives because they knew I never spare anybody who crosses my path. I narrowed my eyes, giving them a daring look. “Who sent you, and what is your mission here?”The leader, a huge man with scars across his face, spat on the floor. His action made me very mad. He was proving to be stubborn, and that attitude caused my blood to boil through my veins. “Do not make me repeat myself unless you all are dead,” I spoke in anger, stepping before them. I reached for the man’s chin and for Ed's gaze to meet mine. My lips curled into a smile of satisfaction as I reached for my dagger and began piercing his neck. The man groan
The storm raged heavily outside, but there was complete silence in the walls of Alex’s study. Lillian watched the lightning through the window, wrapping the blanket around her damp body. What just happened between her and Alex continued to replay in her head. How vulnerable she became and how he gripped her tightly. “You are mine,” he said, and she quickly bit her lip and returned back to reality. Her body had betrayed her in Alex’s arms, meanwhile all she was filled with was hate and resentment towards him. She walked back and forth in the study. She knew she had entered a tough world, and whether she liked it or not, she now belonged to Alex. Lucy’s world crumbled the day her father died. It wasn't just the loss of his laughter, his gentle smile or the way he made them feel safe. Her father had been keeping the family together and living in silent debt just to make sure that they were happy. The first weeks after his funeral were the hardest. Lucy was sad and depressed. She spe
