Chapter 10

The next morning Moon was in the kitchen preparing breakfast.

She had set the old table and put a pot of fresh tea on it.

Esmee and Rodolf were first who sat down and joined her.

Rodolph saw the angry look in Esmee her eyes, that he had also noticed a few times the previous evening. He was not aware of any harm but knew that Esmee had her own view of events and suspected that he, therefore, did not understand what was going on.

‘What is it?’ He asked, when she looked at him for the umpteenth time, reproachfully.

‘You know what,’ she said angrily.

Rodolf had dealt with her anger before and understood that he couldn't guess exactly what was going on.

‘Tell me what I have done,’ he said patiently, his eyes looking straight at her.

She peeled her egg with short, violent movements.

‘Glad I'm not that egg,’ murmured Rodolf.

And then she laughed and it sounded liberating.
