Chapter Twelve

A frosty chill blows over my body causing me to shiver. The cool air is filled with the sound of chattering people as we prepare to leave the Shadow Moore. I jump when I feel something touch my shoulder. Looking behind me I see Pyotr.

His dark hair is tied neatly into a low ponytail. He's wearing a white tunic with a red vest tucked into black pants. Pyotr smiles at me, the moonlight glinting off his orange eyes makes them glow.

"Are you ready, this will be the last time you can see your family for a while," he asks.

I smile casting my eyes down.

"I...I left once, I'm n-not afraid to d-do it again," I reply.

Pyotr furrows his brows in confusion.

"Do you count your kidnapping as leaving?" He questions.

Lifting my gaze from the ground, I glance back up at Pyotr.

"No, I-I don't count that. I l...left home shortly before I was t-taken," I tell him.

"Well, hopefully, you can find some closure after your trip back home," he says.
