“The family home in Oak street will belong to everyone who is family”
Daniella notices her step mother’s face grows tighter at this statement. “At least for now. There are conditions that have to be met before the family home will be passed down to a specific person. I will reveal these conditions in due time. For now, everyone has access to it” Mrs.Donna leans in, her voice cutting through the air. "And what about Blackwood Enterprise?" Mr. Hartwell sighs and removes his glasses. "Regarding Blackwood Enterprise, Mr. Blackwood's wishes were specific. Initially, he wanted to pass the business to a male heir. However, since he did not have a son, he set a condition." Donna raises an eyebrow. "Another condition? How typical of him. What is it this time?” Daniella winces at the insensitivity of her step mother. Gloria giggles and excitedly states. "I know what it is. The company goes to the person who actually LOVES him the most. And we all know I would easily win this without trying” Alicia stares at her sister with a sneer on her face. "Haha! Funny of you to think you will be in the market to compete? You were rarely around Papa when he was alive. Too busy traipsing around Europe with a new catch” Gloria gives her a look. "Please, we both know you’re just jealous that I don’t have to beg men to love me” Donna rolls her eyes at their bickering. "Girls, oh stop it. This is serious." Everyone leans forward. "The Blackwood Enterprise," Mr. Hartwell continues, "will go to the first daughter who marries and has a legitimate son.” Donna gasps loudly. A noise escapes Alicia’s throat and even Daniella finds herself surprised. “What did you say Mr Hartwell?” Donna asks with a strained voice. “The male heir of the first legitimately married daughter gets full ownership of Blackwood Enterprise." ------------------------------------ Daniella Blackwood sits in the dimly lit study of her late father, surrounded by his scent. The weight of his loss presses down on her, making it hard to breathe. As she wipes her tears away, Daniella hears the faint sound of voices outside the study. She recognizes the voices of her stepmother, Donna, and her stepsister, Alicia. Their tones are hushed but urgent. Daniella edges closer to the door, curiosity overpowering her grief. She listens intently, her heart pounding in her chest. "Mom, can you believe that brat gets access to 2 properties?” I get only the beachfront," Alicia says, her voice whiny and petulant.. “Oh Alicia, once we find you a husband and you have your own son, you can get access to the company. That is where your interest should lie." Donna's voice is sharp but calm. "You’re right mum. I need to find myself a suitable man soon as possible. Preferably someone really handsome and tall too. Someone who is really rich too so that I can be envy of every circle” Donna laughs then, a cold and calculating sound. "That should be the last thing on your mind Alicia. There are other qualities you should look out for. Qualities we will go over later” Alicia smiles then. “On the other hand, I guess we shouldn’t be too scared. It’s not like Daniella could possibly find a husband before me. I mean look at her” "A husband?" Donna scoffs. "I have better chances of finding myself a husband at my age than she does. . Who would want someone that looks the way she does.” Alicia sighs. "You're right mum. But, still we shouldn’t underestimate her." Donna's voice suddenly turns bitter. "Once you have the make heir, she’ll have no claim to anything. And then we can kick her out of the mansion too." Alicia snickers. "Finally. It’s been torture having her here! Can’t wait for the day she’s finally out of our hair." The conversation outside continues, but Daniella can’t listen any longer. She steps back into her father’s study, gripping the armrests of her father’s chair. Her mind races with the implications of what she’s just heard. The mansion, her father’s legacy, and the company—they were willing to do anything just to get it. Daniella wasn’t surprised at the way they spoke about her. While they had never outrightly called her out, from their actions it was obvious that they never liked or accepted her. She was after all, a living proof of her father’s infidelity.Danella's vision blurs with tears as she storms out of the garden, her emotions boiling over. She can't stop replaying the scene in her head: Lucky standing beside Alicia, their arms interlinked, as if everything between them had been a cruel joke. She rushes inside the grande mansion and through the halls, muffling her sobs. Suddenly, she collides with someone, almost losing her balance."Hey, what's wrong with you?" a voice asks, concerned. She looks up to see David Tremont. What was he doing here? Alicia must have extended an invitation to him. His brow furrows with worry as he takes in her tear-streaked face."Danella, what happened, are you okay?" he asks gently.Unable to control herself any longer, Danella bursts into tears. David's expression softens, and he takes her hand, guiding her to her room. She realizes, through her haze of emotions, that this is the first time a man other than her father has been in her room. David closes the door behind them and leads her to sit o
Danella stands frozen, her heart sinking as she watches Lucky standing beside Alicia, their arms intertwined. Their eyes meet and everything stands still. The room around her buzzes with excitement and congratulatory applause, but she feels disconnected from it all, as if she's trapped in a nightmare. Her mind races, trying to reconcile the image of Lucky—the man that had invaded her dreams to this man who was Alicia's fiancé. It didn’t make sense. How could he be getting married to her step sister? Was she dreaming? But no! She could recognize that face anywhere.Had she imagined their night together?A wave of hurt so powerful washes over her, quickly followed by a sharp pang of jealousy that hurts so bad that she can’t breathe. She hadn't realized how much she had allowed herself to think about him, to imagine a future that now seemed like a foolish dream.Tears blur her vision, and she blinks them away, feeling exposed in the midst of the crowd of well-wishers. Her chest tighten
Lucky wakes up with a deep heaviness in his chest. Today is the day. The day his engagement with Alicia Blackwood will officially happen. After his last conversation with Alicia, he has given it some thought and decided that it was best if he goes ahead with her planIt wasn’t just that he was scared his career will take a hit; it’s also the fact that she was carrying his child. If she was being honest about carrying his baby, he could not allow himself to abandon her or the baby at such an important time.He was willing to marry her for a year, at least, to provide stability while their child is born. Then, after a year, they can part ways and cohabit while raising their child together. However, he winces at the thought of the future of his life and his baby’s life. Having his child have a mother like Alicia, who is manipulative and ready to blackmail, fills him with dread. He takes another deep breath. “You have to do what you have to do," he whispers to himself. As he is about
Daniella finds herself unable to shake the conversation with Alicia from her mind. She had mentioned the possibility of her being pregnant with the intention of shocking Alicia, and it had worked perfectly. The look on Alicia’s face had been priceless, a mix of confusion and horror that had given Daniela a small but satisfying victory. Her car comes to a halt in front of the restaurant where she is meeting David. Taking a deep breath, she steps out and walks towards the entrance. As she enters the restaurant, almost immediately, she sees David rise from his seat and walk towards her with a warm smile. He had asked to meet up with two days ago, and she had obliged. He envelops her in a big hug, the scent of his Old Spice cologne surrounding her."Hey, Dani," David greeted, his smile genuine. "It's so good to see you.""Hi, David," she replies, forcing a smile. "Good to see you too."He leads her to their table, and they settle into their seats. She sits in an awkward silence as D
It’s been over weeks since his chance meeting with Daniella and Lucky still has found it impossible to stop thinking of her.Emotions continue to claw at him mixing with guilt. He should not have taken advantage of her like that. He should have controlled himself, restrained his desire, instead of taking her innocence. But something about her had made him lose all control. What kind of man sleeps with a virgin on the first night he meets her? Certainly not a gentleman. And yet, he hadn't been one that night.Weeks have passed since their encounter, but the attraction for her has not faded. This isn't like him.Usually, he forgets about a woman within days, but Daniella has only continued to grow in his mind. In the past days, he has even found himself reminiscing about their night together. It wasn't just the wildness of it, but the innocence that she brought to the experience. He smiles to himself, remembering her innocently asking for more, her legs spread wide open to welcome
Daniella’s heart pounds at the sound of the loud, piercing scream. Her heart drops in her stomach as she jumps out of bed and rushes out of her room to find the source of the commotion. The scream leads her to Alicia's room, where she finds Alicia still screaming, Donna, her step mother by her side."What's going on? What's wrong with you?" Daniella asks, her voice filled with concern and confusion.Alicia ignores her, still continuing to scream. And then she turns to her mother tears streaming down her face. "Oh my God! I used to be a perfect size 6, and now I can't even fit into size 8 clothes anymore!”“My wedding is just a few weeks away. How am I going to fit into my wedding gown?”“Oh mother. I look so fat and ugly!" Big tears roll down her cheeks as she paces the room in frustration.Donna pats Alicia's back. "Oh Sweetheart, I told you to take it easy on the almonds. You ate more than handful yesterday”“But mom! I really love almonds! And they were chocolate converted on
