Guess? She didn’t know that she had to play a guessing game here. “Are you sure about that? What if I managed to guess the right person?”
“Then you can request anything from him.”
Smirking, she unsheathed her sword. This is going to be fun. “Shall we add a twist then? Let’s use swords.”
“Oh, you know how to handle a sword? Would it be unfair if it's you against all four of us?” The man asked.
She shook her head. “Don’t worry. I can bring you all down single-handedly.” She’s not sure who Dillon is since she never met him, but she knows he has a mask…and he’s strong. She’ll have to test them then...She’s confident that she can win.
As they all agreed, Lady Vienna lunged at all of them.
Attacking them one by one, it took her a minute to bring the three of them down. She smirked, now knowing who Dillon is. Or, where he is...
“That’s amazing, but you haven’t guessed who Dillon is.” The last masked man standing said.
“You’re Fedel, the owner of the Sylvian Library,” She said, looking around. “And Dillon is not here.”
The man looked blinked, looked around them, then chuckled. “Wow, as expected of Lady Vienna.”
“Oh, you know me. Well, as expected of the Rouge guild.” She retorted.
“As promised, you can meet Dillon.” The masked man threw a cloth to cover her eyes. “Please bear this for a moment. We cannot let someone see our hideout.” He said. She could hear him turning metal and a switch lighting up. The man then guided her towards a door and walked until they stopped. He then removed the cloth from her eyes and disappeared before saying, “Knock three times.”
She did as he said and the door in front of her opened. Revealing a tall man with a black mask on. She could not see his face or even the color of his hair as he was covered with the hood of his cloak.
He just stared at her coldly. His red eyes were like fire. All she could do was gaze at his muscular figure. Of course, he had a cloak on, but his body's muscles were visible.
"Hello, Lady Vienna. I was waiting for you.” His cold voice said, slicing through the icy thin air.
The room was dark with only the candles dimly lightening up the room. The walls were painted white and plain, and the only furniture she could see was the table by the window and the sofa placed in the center of the room. She saw him sitting by the sofa and she sat in front of him.
"Speak what you want. And give us 5 bars of gold.”
“I request that you kill Duke Raziel.” She said, looking him straight in the eyes.
“I think you misunderstood our guild. We don’t kill people. We only seek information.”
“No, I know you can do it.”
The man just stared at her, analyzing what she said. He spoke up again "Really? Then I'm afraid I have to test you. I saw how you brought down my men outside.”
He stood up and unsheathed his sword from his belt.
"Are you challenging me?" She asked, standing up also. Whenever someone challenges Lady Xaviera into a duel, she never backs down. She takes pride in her skills. She's confident she'll win.
"If you managed to even scrape me, then I agree to your request. If not, then I'm afraid you'll have to go home achieving nothing." The man declared.
"Sounds good to me." With that, the lady launched at him first.
She tried to stab him in his stomach but he was fast. She launched again, and again, trying to test the waters but he could avoid her attacks easily. He was just allowing her to attack him continuously and he'd dodged it. Breathing hard, she paused, analyzing his movements. He was calm and he moved fluidly.
His skill is no joke. That's for sure. She has to take this seriously.
"That's amazing. But I think you have to work harder." It was his turn to attack her, which she also managed to avoid. Her movements were a bit limited as she was wearing her dress, weighing her down.
"You're quite skilled." The lady commented. "But I think my knight is more skilled." With that, the next thing she knew, she launched again and managed to cut his mask in two.
His mask fell down, revealing his face, but his hand was quick enough to cover his face and he turned around to avoid her. “Stay away.” He fired.
Lady Vienna smirked, but then realized it. Dillon was always mysterious in the book, his identity was unknown. Could it be...Wait...no, those red eyes and black hair and mask...why was she stupid?
“Duke Raziel?” She asked, her eyes wide and her mouth hanging open.
Dillon is Duke Raziel! He’s the villain!
She laughed hysterically, at her stupidity. She wanted to avoid Duke Raziel, came for Dillon to ask him to kill Duke Raziel, but turns out, they are the same person! How could she miss this fact! The hometown of Glenarm is part of the villain’s territory!
What had she done? Now that the damage is here, she won't have a choice.
Dillon was frozen in front of him. Wearing another mask, he turned to face her. “Congratulations, you found it out. ”
Lady Vienna could hear the gritting of the teeth of the man in front of him. He was not impressed by this. Dillon spoke up, giving her a pointed look. “No...I didn’t mean to.”
“Too late for that. Now that you know it, keep this secret all the way to your grave.” She felt chills running down her spine by his words. “Leave now. I’ll see you soon.”
What could he possibly mean by that? They won't meet again! And she doesn't want anything to do with his secret. But deep inside her, he knows something wild is going to unfold soon.
She heard her thoughts whispering to her. Those were the last words she ever expected to do, but having no choice, Lady Vienna slowly removed her hands that are only her lifeline now, and finally letting herself go, she watched as Ambrosia looked at what she did, not expecting her to do this. Lady Vienna closed her eyes and let the smoke conceal her. This is the least expected way of dying for her. Of all the times she was faced with danger, this is the most ridiculous way of how dying for her. She died because she gave up. She waited for impact, to fall to the ground and let her bones break but in an instant, a sharp claw grabbed her shirt, and a pair of flapping wings, with the sharp gust of wind. “Did you just let yourself die, Vienna? I won’t allow you to leave me easily.” Said a dark voice and her breath hitched, her heart drumming loudly just hearing him. Raziel. Lady Vienna couldn’t help but let the tears fall in her eyes. Duke Raziel dropped her off to safety and she
Just wait, Raziel. It’s my turn to make the effort. For the both of us. Well, it’s a bit unfair that I’m the only one who could remember everything we had, isn’t it? I have to make you know every bit and piece. And Lady Vienna waited no minute and started her plan. Lady Vienna took Duke Raziel to every place they went to. From taking him to the royal ball where they had their first official public appearance to the Rogue guild to their adventures with Avelina, and little mishaps with Crown Prince Matthias. It was a long process, but slowly but surely, Lady Vienna patiently waited for the perfect time, for the time he’ll wake up and remember what they had. Because this might be the only chance she’ll have. And if Alexis dares to mess up again in the timeline, he might even make the both of them forget that anything even happened. Lady Vienna took him to the picnic place, where Duke Raziel first surprised her with lunch. Duke Raziel stared at her, long and confused. “What?” She
“In our next life, I’ll come and find you, Vienna.” Lady Vienna woke up with a gasp, trying to adjust to the light as the comfortable mattress was-wait a minute. There should not be any comfortable mattress in their carriage on their way to the Lumen empire? The last thing she could remember was leaving the orphanage after Titus was gotten by the witch…and then going on another journey…with someone… She tried to rack her mind for more information, feeling that she was with someone. Not sure who it was, but it seemed that she had somehow formed a bond with this person. What was his..name again? She looked around and noticed she was in her room, she gasped in shock. “Roxy!” She yelled, and Roxy, appeared with her usual messy brown hair and maid uniform, “Yes my lady!” “Where is…where is Titus?” She asked, and the door instantly opened. “You called for me, my lady?“ Titus asked, his bright silver hair and purple eyes gleaming through the sunlight. “You called for me, my lady?“
Alexis laughed, caressing her cheeks, “Haha, this is the most exciting part for me. The revelation. Did he hide it from you? Or did he really lose his memory after I did the ritual?” “You seem to be so shocked, my dear. Let me explain everything to you clearly.” He then touched Vienna’s forehead and suddenly, a bright light came into her mind, along with memories playing. “Your soul was already dead long ago, Vienna. What keeps you awake was because Raziel sacrificed himself last time.” He started, and Vienna watched the scenery play in front of her. “Last century ago, Duke Raziel was a mighty killer who fell in love with a woman that became his weakness. It was you, Vienna. You were the one I cursed first for committing such a grave sin. But then he came to me, the most powerful dark mage to make a deal, to turn back time for you. This is out of the world’s nature, but out of pity, I decided to give him a try, to correct his mistakes, but along the way, the consequence was for hi
The next day, they continued and got closer to the Lumen Empire. The man was still there to guide the way to them. Fedel was keen on threatening the old man the moment he decided to fool them. Stopping by the cave to rest for the night, they somehow saw a bottle placed inside. Fedel grabbed it and gave it to Vienna as a joke, but it was all to their surprise when a huge smoke appeared from inside. A shadow of a figure appeared, and a tall and darkly handsome man showed up. Duke Raziel unsheathed his sword and pulled Vienna to the side, “What did you open?” He asked impatiently. Vienna pouted, “I don’t know, Fedel gave it to me!” Raziel sighed, “It’s a genie, be careful.” Vienna raised her eyebrows, “A genie?” The man stretched his arms out and faced them with a carefree look, “Ah, finally! I was sleeping for a hundred years now!” Now that they could see him clearly, there’s no denying that he looks handsome with his purple hair and white eyes, and fair skin. “You have one w
The children continually asked for her and Mr. Martini came to rush them back to their bedrooms. They then dried themselves off in their own quarters and after packing her stuff. a knock came on her door. She opened it and saw Fedel. She sighed, “Is it time?” He nodded, “The duke is already waiting by the door. We need to leave discreetly before the children notices.” She sighed, it would be hard to say goodbye. So it’s best to leave without them knowing… “You can get my things now. But let me do something first.” Fedel nodded, starting to carry her suitcase outside as she sat by the side table with pen and paper in her hands. She began to scribble some words. A parting letter for the children. Standing up, she then took a last look at the room. It was a short trip here but meeting the children was fun and she will cherish it forever. To think she was not much of a children's lover at first. She walked towards the back door where their carriage and Raziel’s horse Tiberius wer
