Episode 5

The Black Chevrolet sport car stopped in front of a small boutique. Abel and Jenny got down from the car and walked towards the boutique.

"Are we going shopping?" Abel asked jokingly.

"This is the base" Jenny replied.

"Undercover... typical of a non governmental organization." Abel chuckled..

They both entered the boutique, the security guard at duty opening the glass door for them to enter.

They went straight to the cashier.

"Good morning sir and ma." The female cashier greeted. "How may I be of help to you?"

"Asian phoenix." Jenny replied. "Both of us."

The cashier nodded, putting her hand under the counter, bringing out a card.

Jenny collected the card and led the way pass the counter into the inner Chambers of the boutique.

"Nice name Agent." Abel said. "Asian phoenix."

"Wait till you see me in action tonight" Jenny responded with a smirk. "I'm a killing machine"

"I think I need a code name too." Abel smiled. "Suggest one for me."

They got to a brown wall and Jenny placed the card at a particular spot on the wall. Instantly the wall opened revealing an elevator. Jenny punched a button on the elevator, and the door of the elevator opened. They both entered, the elevator door closing immediately.

"You already have one...The Merc" Jenny replied.

The elevator went down at a steady speed.

"The Merc... it doesn't sound cool to me..How about Fighting tiger" Abel said.

Jenny laughed out. "Fighting tiger?? That's lame dude. The Merc sounds dope to me. The whole Organization calls you the Merc."

"Fine! Fine! The Merc it is then." Abel shrugged.

The elevator stopped moving, the door opened, both Abel and Jenny stepping out.

"Woww!" Abel exclaimed, impressed by the structure of the base. The infrastructure was near futuristic. Drones flying around, large screens displaying several footages gathered from the very own satellite of Horizon Zero.

At both sides, were 6th generation computers, with trained personnels operating it. After were high tech weapons placed and cleaned on a large table near the edge.

"Good morning Phoenix" A fellow male agent that passed, greeted as they walked towards the direction of the commander's office.

"Good morning Boar" Jenny replied.

"Wait where those that lead to?" Abel asked sighting a large metallic door.

"Garage."

"Hope you have fast cars?"

"You will be impressed" Jenny smirked.

"By the way. Are you Chinese or Korean?" Abel asked.

They got to the front of the commander's office. Jenny knocked.

"Japanese" Jenny answered.

"Come in!" A masculine voice replied from inside.

Jenny opened the door and entered, with Abel trailing behind.

"Good morning Sir" Jenny Saluted.

"Good morning Agent" Commander Lionel responded, with his eyes fixed on his laptop.

"You brought a new recruit or what?" Lionel asked not sparing a glance at Abel.

Commander Lionel Vakian, an ex soldier in his mid fifties. A calm but egoistic personality he possess. A former high ranking soldier he was till he faked his death ten years ago to set up 'Horizon Zero'.

"Old man, if you look up from your laptop, you will know who is standing before you." Abel responded.

Lionel took his eyes off his screen, and looked at Abel for the first time since they both stood in front of him. His eyes widened a bit, as he instantly recognized Abel. Lionel stood up from his office chair.

"Abel Oliz." Lionel slowly said. "You have decided to Join us."

He walked towards Abel and placed his right hand on Abel's left shoulder. "Welcome to Horizon Zero."

"Call me Commander Lionel"

"About I just call you Lionel" Abel replied.

"As you wish Abel." Lionel laughed.

"So let's make this quick. I mean the plan for tonight." Abel said walking towards the man's laptop. "Mind if I use your laptop?"

"No probs" Lionel replied. Jenny just stood quietly and observed.

Abel logged in to his email account on the man's browser. Abel punched the keyboards for a few seconds before stopping. He stared at the screen for about a minute. Tranquility taking over the room.

"Any problem?" Lionel asked.

"Nothing we can't handle" Abel replied, leaving the laptop.

"So how many agents does this organization have?" Abel asked taking a seat. Lionel walked back to his seat and also sat down.

"Sit down Jenny." Lionel instructed.

Jenny nodded, and also sat down on a single seat near Abel.

"150 agents on ground for now."

"The cooler project is a biochemical weapon, aimed to reduce the Earth's population by half in the duration of 14 days. It's medium is gas. Already stationed in the six continents of the world as we speak. Once the poisonous gas is inhaled, it competes with the oxygen in yiur blood and system in general, causing immediate suffocation. An average human will only last five minutes before dieing if such gas is inhaled." Abel elucidated.

"Hmm. So when do they plan on launching this weapon, and is there any way we can stop them? Jenny asked.

"Tomorrow. And the only way to stop them is to  get to Victor Olusa ontime."

"How is us getting to Victor Olusa going to help?" Lionel asked.

"The inevitable 5 believed to be the sponsors of this project, we know none. We need him alive, get him to talk and disclose their personalities. We get their base, and kill them badguys. And boom we save the world." Abel replied, gesturing both hands to spread wide.

"That's a not so good plan. We need like two backup plans for this." Lionel objected.

"That's your problem oldman. You form the plan b and c and d and so on, while I stick with mine. We moving in 7pm. And remember we need him alive" Abel said, standing up and walked towards the door. "Can I borrow a toy from your garage?"

"Burn them tyres" Lionel replied with a smile.

"You rock Grandpa" Abel said and left.

"Did he just call me Grandpa?"....

7pm

Moving at a speed of 330km/hr, Abel handled the wheel of the red Lamborghini veneno vehicle, swerving between other cars which appeared more like a blur to him. .

"I sight his Entourage of vehicles" Abel spoke into the com on his ear.

"We are coming from the other side. Five Vans filled with armed Agents are trailing behind. We double cross him, and kidnap him alive." Lionel replied.

About 200 metres from Abel's car, was an Entourage of 5 Benz cars, with Victor sitting in one of them.

"Good. Hope they are keeping up." Abel replied hitting the throttle, and the car gained more speed.

In less than ten seconds Abel sped past  the first car, then the second, then the third, then the fourth. When he reached the fifth, which was the first if counted from the front, he swerved the car to the front, and hit the Benz car away, then pulled the Lamborghini veneno brake, causing a sudden halt in front of the second car, which was forced to stop to avoid hitting Abel's car. Then the remaining three cars stopped as a result. Abel smiled accomplished.

He grabbed his Smith and Wesson semiautomatic pistol and slammed in a loaded clip.

"Let the fun begin!"

He wined down the car glass at his side, immediately shooting at the two guards that came out from the first car he hit earlier.

The 5th car at the back tried reversing but got hit by one of Horizon Zero's Van. The remaining four Vans circled round the four cars and  Agents armed with BR 18 Assault Rifles flooded out of the Vans and immediately exchanging of bullets proceeded. In no time, Victor Olusa was dragged out of the Third car by two armed Agents.

"First phase accomplished. Put him in the van, and head to base now" Lionel instructed via the com.

Victor turned the car around, and stepped hard on the accelerator, the car gaining speed, and was about to speed pass a T Junction,  only to get hit from the left side by a truck. The force of the hit got the Lamborghini veneno flying in the air for about a second before landing hard on the asphalt road, and rolling over three times before coming to an halt, laying upside down near an electric pole. Smoke emitted slowly from the damaged upside down car with the windscreen and side door glass shattered. The four tyres still rolled but at a slow pace as they faced the sky. Abel lied upside down unconscious, with blood dripping from deep cuts on his head....

Vladmir Ditri, the bald headed Russian man of steel handled the wheel of the large truck as he slammed the truck against the other vans, simultaneously pulling the trigger of the Berret Nano gun in his left hand, killing the drivers of  the van. He stopped and  parked the truck horizontally, taking the whole space of the road.

The doors of the remaining 3 vans that survived the hit, got opened and thirty Agents in total trooped out and shot sporadically at Vladmir who took cover behind the truck.

Vladmir wanted to throw grenades at them, but he remembered His client, Victor is still with them. He discarded that idea.

One man, two men, three men, till the last agent, all dropping to the ground dead each with a bullet stuck in their eyeballs. Such precision, such experience, the speed at which he disposed and changed the clips of his pistol, filling it with new set of bullets and cartridges, was top notch. His quick pull of the trigger with out a second thought, and not missing his Target was military level.

With just four clips of bullets and cartridges and a pistol, he eliminated armed and trained agents wielding Assault rifles in just two minutes.

Victor came out of the van, after making sure the bullets exchange was over.

"Thanks Man" Victor said once he got to where Vladmir stood, resting on the back of the truck smoking a cigar.

"Just doing my job." Vladmir replied coldly. "Get in the truck."

Abel slowly awake and maneuvered himself out of the damaged Lamborghini, only to be welcomed by a strong kick to the face by Vladmir..

Abel rolled twice on the ground, from the impact of the kick.

Vladmir pointed his gun at Abel with a cold look on his face.

"Kill number 281" Vladmir pulled the trigger....

Vladimer is the most lethal just like Abel was told he would be. Each one that tried to take out Abel was meaner than the former.

He picked the phone and checked the screen. Luckily for him, there was no scratch on it. He unlocked it and swiped down the notification bar which was empty. It felt strange to him at first, his phone was always buzzing with text messages and there were always several missed call after not being with it for a long time, but then he remembered that this was a new phone and he had tossed his former phone out through the window on Rex’s instructions. He navigated to the menu list and opened his browser. He typed in the Youngicee stories website URL and it loaded fully in few seconds, he navigated to the news section and scrolled down to check the latest headlines. The first headline that caught his attention was not the top most one, it was the sixth one h in the arrangement. More suv vehicles drove to the front of the boutique. With tens of gunmen getting out from them. The whole boutique got surrounded in no time. No visible escape route. Jenny and Lionel hid together behind the toilet walls. Both breathing faintly. "It's Over."... "What are we going do now?" Jenny whispered. "I'm as helpless as you are child." "You think Cory can help?" Jenny asked, bringing out her cellphone. "Maybe. We don't have a choice. We need all the help we can get." "Find and bring Lionel out, with the girl too." Eric ordered. Jenny hurriedly sent a text to Cory. "What's that sound?" Lionel asked. "Sounds like sirens." "Never been this glad to hear them." Lionel laughed, in a small whisper. "Boss, the cops." One of Eric's gunmen reported. "Kill them." The latter nodded. About ten of the gunmen tha

  • The Merc[A Reason To Kill]   Chapter 21

The fall was more than something he could control. He couldn’t stop the scream that forced itself out of his mouth as he found himself struggling against the force of gravity. His body hit the window guards from the top most floor and his head also hit one of the opened window glasses and continued downward until it got to the middle floor at the fourth second where it hit another opened glass window, all this slowing down his movement and increasing the pains of his fall. He closed his eyes in anticipation of his death as he continued falling. He suddenly stopped moving after three more seconds of hitting two more opened windows. He opened his eyes expecting to find himself dead but he was still about twenty feet away from the ground. The thick collar of his cloth had hung one of the window glasses which was now oscillating because of his weight on it. Breathing heavily he managed to look down from that position. He could see people there looking up and pointing at him as his legs f
