Introducing Creepy

“You’re weak!” McKenzie argues as she dusts off the grand piano. “You two kissed, he admitted to you he’s a little obsessed with sex, and you freaked out and left?”

“Yes! McKenzie!” I argue while I try scrubbing the toilet in this tiny spare bathroom. “We kissed and I left him. And he admitted to me about the sex thing before we kissed. Why does it matter?”

Her scoff echoes through the living room. “When’s the last time you had a dick in you?”

“I don’t know!” I yell back and set the scrub brush on the floor. “I’m not too concerned with it. I’m not a horny freak like you are!”

“Like me?” She argues back. “Girl! I have a one-night stand once in a great while! I am not a horny freak! I’m just saying, get yourself some dick!”

As I push myself off the floor, I feel this small rush of excitement inside of me. This bathroom in this mansion is only a small reminder of how big Devin's house is and how big his want for me also is and it’s bringing back memories of the other night and that damn kiss. I don’t want McKenzie to know she is right, but I need to get laid, horribly bad.

As I step into the living room, the beautiful bright sun shines down on me from the floor-to-ceiling windows. Looking out and onto the back terrace, I see another beautiful ocean view.

“I don’t need dick,” I say, stepping toward her and carrying the bathroom cleaning bucket. “And why does every rich person have to have a waterfront home? Oh, and by the way, I’m done cleaning the bathroom. It’s time to move on to the next house.”

“I’m not done.” She argues, wiping down the end table. “I still have the rest of the living room to dust. This needs to be done right or else we lose a client.”

I look around the stupidly large living room with wide eyes. If she has to dust every single thing in here, she has a long time to go.

“I can assure you; you won’t lose a client.” A man’s voice calls out from behind me. “You ladies are too beautiful.”

My heart drops as I realize our client just listened to us bitch and complain. Is he going to fire us? I don’t know this man and he doesn’t know us. He might of just called us beautiful but that doesn’t mean a damn thing.

I spin around to a blonde-haired, dark, brown-eyed man. He’s wearing what looks like an expensive dress suit. It’s dark purple and honestly, it suits him.

“Don’t freak, ladies.” He says, walking toward us as he forces a smile and removes his creepy stare. “My name is John Myles. I simply forgot my watch. I drove across town and spun around just to come back and get it.”

“Why would you do that for a watch?” McKenzie argues, opening her big mouth.

“Because…McKenzie. I own my company. I can do whatever it is I feel like doing.”

“Fair!” I say, interrupting their conversation and praying McKenzie doesn’t get us fired. “If you own your company, you have free reign all the time. Right, McKenzie!”

“You’re correct…” He says, pauses and slowly shakes his finger at me. “You must be Cassie. Don’t worry, I check in on every person that steps into my house. You can never be too certain nowadays.”

“Yes,” I say, agreeing with him, while trying to cut the conversation short. This guy kind of gives me the creeps. He is not a bad-looking guy, but his creepy smile throws it off. His weird gaze bothers me and something in my stomach just tells me ‘no’.

He steps down a couple of steps leading from the hallway to the living room, his hand in his pocket the entire time and his moussed hair frozen in place.

“Pardon me for being intrusive, Cassie.” He announces while his creepy smile still radiates off him. “But you’re single, correct?”

“She’s complicated.” McKenzie quickly says, saving me from this awkward moment.

John turns his attention to McKenzie, hand still in his pocket and raising an eyebrow in confusion. “So, that means there is availability?”

“No, John!” McKenzie argues and scoffs. “She kind of has someone. Speaking of which, don’t you have to get to that appointment, Cassie?”

Looking over at the clock, I realize she’s right. I forgot all about the appointment and missed it. But this is a way out of this weird and overall awkward situation.

“Yep!” I say, setting the bucket down. “Thankfully, I drove here today!”

Quickly stepping toward John, I’m trying to think of every way around him without needing to get too close to him. I lower my head and avert my eyes, trying to quickly walk past him.

“Nice meeting you, John,” I say and get stuck stepping around him anyway. “See you later McKenzie.”

I feel John’s hand brush past my shoulder like he’s trying to grab for me. I rush toward the door and quickly get outside.

The warm and fresh air brings relief to me, causing me to take a grateful deep breath of it. That short but awkward meet-and-greet with that billionaire weirdo just made me realize how grateful it was to have Devin around.

“You missed your appointment,” McKenzie announces as she walks out of the house, carrying the cleaning supplies. “It was scheduled twenty minutes ago, so you’re lucky I just saved you from that creep.”

“Oh, my God!” I pleadingly say and shake my head as I slide into my car. “He was freaking creepy! He was a good-looking guy, but good looks don’t cover weird, and he was fucking weird!”

“I know…Cassie. I’ve cleaned his place several times and every time he’s been weird. I’m picky about who I sleep with, but a billionaire could easily get into my pants, and I stayed clear of him.”

“I felt off around him, like something was seriously wrong with the guy” I say as I put the car in drive. “But I will see you tonight, right?”

“I’m heading home now. I took an early day since you did.” She explains while finishing putting the cleaning supplies into the vehicle. “And yes, you will feel off around him. I’ve never heard anything bad about him, but you’re right, he makes my stomach turn.”

“I’ll see you later.” I quickly say while pulling out of the driveway and waving my hand. “Sorry, I asked a question and left mid-answer! Love you, bitch!”

“Yeah! Yeah!” She yells back.

A part of me wants to message Devin, but another part of me wants to leave it be and make him wait. Either way, I’m not in a rush for anything. And what’s more, there’s something about me coming to Conway and finding the first and feeling something for him. I’m superstitious about that.

I just feel like that entire John thing made me want to connect with Devin, and the fact that I cannot stop thinking about that fucking kiss and his overly large bulge in his pants. Not to mention he saved me twice!

As I turn into the parking lot of the grocery store, I feel a sense of calmness inside of me. I’m away from John and I am considering messaging Devin.

I can easily go on another date with Devin tonight if I want to. I could get him to swoop me off my feet, marry me, and then I never have to worry about anything ever again. But then…that’s not who I am.

I jolt in my seat and my heart drops as my phone rings through the car speakers. I exhale a sigh of relief, forgetting I had the Bluetooth connected.

“You damn near gave me a heart attack!” I scold as I answer McKenzie’s call. “What can I help you with, beautiful woman!”

“Hey…” She says and pauses. “I forgot my key card for John's house at his house. So get this. I went back there and almost busted him masturbating. It was kind of fucked up and he didn’t notice that I noticed.”

“And you think I needed to know this, why?” I ask, shaking my head and proceeding to bite on a loose hangnail.

“Because!” She argues. “I had to see it, so you had to hear about it.”

“Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!” I say, stepping out of the car and turning the phone onto speaker. “I don’t care to know about what some billionaire was doing with his hand in his spare time.”

“Well, he left quickly.” She says, interrupting me. “He said he had to run to the store…Cassie, I think he’s coming…”

“Cassie?” A male voice calls from behind me. “Is that you?”

I spin around, pressing the phone against my ear and turning off the speaker. “John?”
