Chapter 17: Unexpected Date

Rye and Khali were on the way home. She enjoyed spending time with her new friends. She was surprised to find herself new and happy, which had never happened before. Khali can't imagine how light it must feel to have friends.

"I'm just curious, Khali," Rye said.

It's busy on the highway. After spending a few hours in their friends' hideout, they were on their way back to the village. They called it "the hideout" because that's where the group hangs out. A place that belongs to Rye impresses Khali. She knows that Rye's family is part of a wealthy family in the country that owns businesses worldwide. Brady told her that Rye is financially independent. Half of his savings go into the stock market. She couldn't believe that Rye was a multimillionaire at his age.

Khali's family also has businesses, though they are smaller than Rye's family business. They have savings, but not as much as Rye. She gave him a quick look. "Curious, to what?"

"Have you ever known what Brady is thinking?" Rye
