Lorain was deep in thought as she walked away from CD Inc.

“What happened to Rica? Did she really need to send me away before she went to look for my husband? She doesn’t even know what he looks like... Oh well, never mind. I’ll just eat this myself. What a waste, I really thought I’d finally see my husband today,” she said regretfully while on her way home.

“I’ll just drop by the market to buy his favorite dish. I’ll cook dinner later.”

Lorain: “Ma’am, how much for this bunch of broccoli?”

Vendor (Manang): “It’s cheap, dear. I’ll give it to you for a good price—you're my first customer this morning.”

Lorain: “Thank you so much, Ma’am. Keep the change. Thanks again!”

“What a kind customer she is,” said the old vendor, shaking her head in admiration.

“Oh dear, Grandma is smiling again,” said Rico to the old woman selling vegetables at the market.

Rico: “Wow, Ma’am... you must be happy to get such a big order and even a tip. Who wouldn’t smile because of that woman—she’s so kind, and sometimes pretty amazing too.”

Rico (smiling): “Really, Grandma? Do you think she’s married?”

Lola: “Oh, I wouldn’t know, dear. I’ve never seen her with anyone whenever she comes to the market. But if I were you, I wouldn’t set my hopes too high—she’s beautiful and slim, probably being chased by many men!”

Rico: “Hahaha!”

“You were the one who said she always shops alone. Maybe she really isn’t married, Grandma,” he said with a smile.

Lola: “I don’t know about you, Rico! Anyway, I’ll head back inside. I still have a lot to do.”

(Rico nodded.)

“What a shame I didn’t get to see her face. I hope I get to recognize her if our paths cross again,” Rico said to himself.

Lola: “Oh! I thought you’d already left, dear?”

Rico: “Ah—yes, I was just about to go,” he replied, embarrassed.

“Young people these days... they get all dazed when they see a beautiful woman,” the elderly vendor muttered.

That afternoon, at Lorain’s home...

She was busy preparing dinner.

Shane: “Mama! Is Papa home yet?”

Lorain: “Oh, baby, Papa’s not home yet. Maybe he’ll be here later.”

The child pouted, clearly sulking over her father’s absence.

Lorain: “Don’t be sad, sweetheart. Let’s call Papa now.”

Shane: “Yay! Yes, Mama, I want to talk to Papa!”

Lorain: “Just a second, sweetie. Papa’s not answering my call.”

Shane: “Why? Papa’s not answering? Is he busy with work again?” —She asked with a mix of anger and disappointment.

Meanwhile, at the Durumio residence...

Crisanta Durumio: “Who’s calling, Winson? We’re in the middle of dinner! Turn off that phone.” —said his mother angrily, while they were at the dinner table with his father and two brothers.

Crisanta: “When are you going to move to Florida?”

Winson: “Why are you bringing that up now? I thought we already talked about that, Ma?”

Crisanta: “Yes, we did! When are you going to give us a grandchild with your wife? Your father and I aren’t getting any younger, and here you are still living like a bachelor!”

Crisanta (to Rico and Carlo): “And you two—Rico, Carlo—when do you plan to get married?”

Rico: “Uhmmm… Now we’re getting dragged into this too? Come on, Mama!”

Winson: “Alright, Ma. I’m heading out.”

Crisanta: “Why not sleep here tonight? You’ve got no one waiting for you at home, right? This is the only favor I’m asking. Please.”

Winson: “I’ll just call my maid at home. She might be waiting for me and won’t go to sleep until I get home.”

Rico (smiling): “Wow, that’s a dedicated maid! I haven’t visited your house in a long time, Kuya. Maybe I could drop by sometime?” —Rico said with curiosity, which surprised Winson.

Years had passed, and not one of his family members had visited his house.

Rico: “You look surprised, Kuya?”

Winson: “Me? Surprised? Of course I am! You guys never visit my house. Why the sudden interest?”

Winson: “I’ll just step out for a bit and have a smoke.”

Outside...

Winson (on the phone): “Hello, honey. Is Shane still awake?”

Lorain: “She fell asleep waiting for you. What time are you coming home?”

Winson: “Sorry, I can’t come home tonight, honey. I’ve got work to finish at the office. My boss needs me to wrap it up ASAP.”

Lorain: “Is that so? Okay, take care, honey.” —she replied sweetly, though her heart ached a little.

Winson: “I love you, Lorain. Bye.”

The line went dead, while Lorain still held the phone to her ear—then it suddenly rang. Startled, she dropped it, and the phone was slightly damaged.

The next day, Shane woke up early and saw his father beside him, whom he immediately woke up. “Papa! What are you doing in my room? This is embarrassing! Why are you here in my room, Papa? And you even slept here? Am I already a lady?” he protested to his father. “Well, well! My daughter is already a lady? She doesn’t want to sleep beside her Papa anymore. Are you serious, child?” “Yes, sir. Where is Mama? Why didn’t she come with you here? I thought you two would come together to visit me.” “Uhmmm, child, your Mama is busy at work now. Why, are you missing Mama?” “Of course,” he answered briefly. But then he whispered, “But Mama doesn’t miss me anymore,” which Shane did not understand because his voice was very soft. “Shane!” Mrs. D called out. “Get up now, your ride will be here soon,” she said. “Yes, Ma’am,” Shane immediately replied. “I’ll leave you here for now, Papa. I need to eat breakfast so I can get ready and go to my new school,” Shane said happily. “Wow, it seems

Because of how fast everything happened, Lorain didn’t even notice Winson entering the bar. The same with Carlo’s arrival—Lorain was busy talking to their boss, Lando. “It’s been several nights now, Lorain. Don’t you still have any plans of sitting with your customers? Do you even know how much you could earn in just one night? It all depends on how much you want to make,” Lando explained to Lorain. “Uhmmm, Sir Lando, it’s not that I’m refusing... but it’s basically the same,” Lorain answered. “I understand. Alright then, Lorain, just don’t leave the bar, okay?” Lando requested. Lorain simply nodded in agreement with Lando’s request. As Lorain was about to leave the bar, she crossed paths with a man—Richard, the guy who wanted to have her sit at his table. “Hi, Miss Lorain. Finally, I ran into you,” he greeted as Lorain was just stepping out. “Who are you? What do you want? I don’t know you,” Lorain replied, turning her back on him. “Don’t turn your back on me, Miss! I’m stil

"You're such a nuisance, Vina!" Romnick exclaimed, slapping her. Vina was shocked by the sudden slap. "Why?! What did I do to you that you had to slap me?!" "You don't know why?! I almost got beaten up because of what you did!" he said to Vina. "What do you mean you almost got beaten up?! That was probably your plan, and now you're pretending you don't know anything?!" Romnick angrily said, grabbing both of Vina’s arms. "W-what are you doing?! You're hurting me! Let go of me! I'm going to be late for work!" Vina screamed, pulling her arms away, forcing Romnick to release her. A loud knock on Lorain’s door interrupted her sleep. "Lorain! Do you know what time it is? Aren’t you going to work today?" Lando shouted from outside her room. "Ugh, it's all Vina’s fault! She probably got too drunk, that’s why she can’t wake up!" Lando angrily said while waiting for someone to open the door. "That Vina is really in trouble with me if Lorain doesn’t go to work tonight!" Then he walked

As Carlo was on his way home to their mansion, he couldn’t stop thinking about what happened between him and Lorain. "If only I were Winson, and he were me, I surely wouldn't hurt Lorain like this. She's so talented, so beautiful—and above all, such a kind woman," he regretfully said to himself as he headed to the mansion, where he saw Shane and invited her out to meet with their mother. "But I haven’t told Lorain about this yet. What if she gets mad at me if I bring Shane to her?" When Carlo arrived at the mansion, he saw their youngest sibling already there. At the Durumio Mansion, rumors were already spreading that the woman Winson was living with was not his real wife, Ricca Durumio. Mrs. D was furious upon hearing the news. "What kind of stupidity is your brother Winson doing?!" she shouted at Winson’s two siblings. "Do you even know what I just found out from CD Inc.? Word is going around that Winson’s real wife is dead, and now he's living with another woman—what’s worse

‘Where are you? I’ve been calling you for a while. I thought we were supposed to meet today?’ she yelled at Rominick on the phone. “Come here now, I want to introduce someone to you. Maybe you'll forget about me once you see the gift I have for you.” “Really? Are you serious about what you’re saying?” Rominick asked again. “Why would I lie? Where are you now?” “I’m right behind you, watching you!” Vina quickly turned around and said, “So you’ve been there for a while. Why didn’t you say anything? Huh?” Rominick didn’t respond to her question. He immediately approached the woman who was fast asleep. “Wow! Is she the same girl who danced at the bar where you work?” Rominick asked while Vina stood with her hands on her hips. “She’s beautiful, isn’t she? What do you plan to do with her now? I want her out of the job. She’s a hindrance to me!” she said with irritation. “Leave her to me. You can go now,” Rominick ordered. “What?” Vina said in shock. “Seriously? Okayyy,” she replied as s

“Is it because of that woman that the bar got so many customers? What does she have anyway? I’m still prettier than her, and I’m definitely a better dancer!” she said to herself angrily while looking at the mirror in the dressing room. She was fixing herself before heading out to the bar with Romnick. When Vina stepped out of the dressing room, she saw their boss, Sir Lando, talking to Lorain. It was clear from his face how happy he was while looking at the two of them. “Congrats, Lorain! You were amazing. There were so many customers tonight. Because of that, here’s a tip from me,” he said, handing her five thousand pesos. “What?! He gave her money? What about me? Don’t I get a tip?” “I won’t accept this!” she said, quickly walking toward them. “Looks like you’re having fun, Sir Lando?” she greeted cheerfully. “Oh, Vina. I thought you already left?” Lando asked in surprise. “You’re so funny, Sir. I haven’t gone home yet. I was just in the dressing room,” she said, forcing a chee
