I woke up staring up at the ceiling. Rolling over, I saw the sleeping form of Alexander. I touched his bare shoulder before sitting up to look around the room. The room wasn’t trashed like the day before when I woke up. I sighed, knowing that Alexander and I didn’t do anything as I had blacked out once again. Feeling relieved, I scooted to the edge of the bed, went to the bathroom area, and turned the shower on.
My body was sore, so I made a mental note to ask Alexander about it when he woke up. The shower was quick to heat up, making me happy that I didn’t have to stand too long waiting for it to get warm. I closed the curtain behind me and wrapped my arms around myself as the water streamed down my body. I sighed happily, feeling all my pains and woes melt off as the tepid liquid swirled down the drain. I wondered why showers had that effect on me.

I woke up the following day without Alexander in the bed with me. Maybe the conversation was too much for him, and he needed space? I waited for him to return, but instead of him bringing me my meals, it was Adam. When I asked where Alexander was, Adam tried his hardest to change the subject, say he was busy, or not say anything. I was confused; why all of a sudden did Alexander run off? And why wasn’t Adam telling me where he was?I didn’t sleep much that night, as per my new norm. But this time, I didn’t fall back asleep. I blinked lazily at Adam as he spoke about how the territories were separated. “Territories are split into four major sections. North, South, East, and West. Then our territory is split into north and south regions. Our region is in the North-Eastern territory. Three packs run the region because of the high populations in neighboring cities, Alexander’s pack and our pack combined. Four packs run the south region. The more dense populations are, the more packs are to be in the area. So, on the West coast, it is split into North and South as well, because it has high-density areas and three packs in both regions. I waited for Alexander for a while before sighing and going to take a shower instead. I was sticky from the sweat of our heated make-out session, and I shivered when the cool shower mist sprayed on my heated skin, goosebumps forming in its wake.“I need to get a hold of myself,” I grumbled, wrapping my arms around my torso. I made my way back to the packhouse, making sure to let isabella go before me. I didn’t want people to think she wasn’t punished because she would be; just later. I had too much on my plate as it was right now, to begin with, let alone dealing with whiny and complainy pack members thinking I’m treating isabella any different than them. The truth is, I couldn’t discipline her anyway. Even if she isn’t alpha right now, she will be. I rested my head on my fist, watching as Adam paced the hall. Adelaide had taken Leah and Charlotte home a few hours ago, but Isabella had remained. She didn’t want to miss a beat because she was worried for her cousin and to help Adam understand. Adam’s phone began to ring, so he stepped around the corner of a side hall to take the call. Isabella bounced her knee beside me, chewing on her fingernail. Anxiety seeped through her; it was a toxic smell that burned my nose. I sat up, looking around the room I was in, stretching. I had momentarily forgotten that I had fallen asleep with Alexander last night until I saw his sleeping form beside me. I cocked my head to the side, watching his back rise and fall steadily. His typically furrowed features were smoothed out as he dreamt, making him look ages younger. His dark blonde hair was smashed to the sides of his head, all but the hair that had been pushed to the front of his face, sticking out like blades of grass.
