A few days later…

Helianthus forced herself up from bed and slowly climbed out.

She made her way to the toilet with heavy steps and accidentally bumped into Briar on her way.

“Are you awake?” Briar asked as he looked up at her suspiciously.

Helianthus nodded her head slowly as she yawned and asked, “Why are you not dressed for school?”

Briar raised a brow and asked, “Did you see the time?”

She frowned and darted in the other direction. She arrived in the living room and saw that Heather was lying on the tiled floor, drawing pictures on paper, and turned to look at her.

She stopped when she saw her daughter, then looked up at the clock on the wall and paled.

Briar walked in and looked at Helianthus as he said, “You looked like you were dying, so we phoned daddy and told him. He said we should leave you to sleep and that he would phone the school.”
