Chapter Two

After informing the three of them what I found out it was a flurry of activity while Magnus informed his other brothers and Kane kept me close, taking me around the pack and showing me around to the offices, the library, the pack hospital and the school. We went into the daycare and I was bombarded with a bunch of young little ones that wanted to meet their Luna and all of them asked me rapid-fire questions. It was a little overwhelming and Kane had to rescue me, telling them we’d come and visit another day.

We then popped in and met with every class, the little ones all wide and curious and asking innocent and cute questions. While the high school years were a little skeptical and asked some questions that bordered on the inappropriate. While we were in the senior class Kane got called out with the teacher to discuss another matter and left me alone in a classroom with about thirty-four, seventeen and eighteen-year-olds. I will admit I was momentarily intimidated, they were my age group, but I had absolutely no experience when it came to school or the like.

“So you’re our new Luna.” One girl commented with a snide look on her face. And just like that I was no longer intimidated. She gave off the same vibe as Talia Marden. She was a tall leggy brunette with hazel eyes and a very snide and judgemental look on her face. I smirked and sat on top of the teacher's desk and her snide look faltered when I didn’t give her the reaction she wanted.

“I am. My name is Kara Ravenfield. I’m Alpha of the Ravenfield pack and Luna of this pack.” I explain with a satisfied smirk as she scoffs and looks at her nails like I’m somehow beneath her.

“So you’re an Alpha and a Luna?” A guy with floppy blonde hair asked, his blue eyes scrunched up in surprise while he looked me over. “How does that work?” He gave me a speculative once over and I could tell from his physique and the way he carried himself he was one of the younger pack warriors, or at the very least he was still in training.

“Pretty simple really. I’m Alpha to my pack as is my birthright and with me being Alpha Kane’s mate I am his Luna. I have no wish to be Alpha of this many people but I will support him as Luna.” I explain with a shrug.

“How old are you? You don’t look any older than us.” Another girl asked, this one sitting right beside the snide brunette. One of her followers. I thought they always came in threes.

“That’s because I’m not. I’m eighteen.”

“Shouldn’t you still be in school?” Brunette asks snidely and glares at me, looking at me like I was scum. I hate people like this. She reminded me of Anders.

“I didn’t have formal schooling the same way you all did. I grew up in an enemy pack and they had a very old school and brutal way of pack training. I’m taking my GED but I’ve never been to school in the same way all of you have.”

"So you’re stupid.” She scoffed once more and that got some scoffs, some snickers and some gasps of shock.

“Says the girl who is insulting an Alpha and your Luna.” I retorted with a snort and that earned a lot of laughter directed at the girl who glared at them and then me, her face red from anger and embarrassment.

“You don’t scare me.” She challenged while staring me down. “You’re just some slut who has the Alpha duped and sleeping with other men and claiming them as your mates.”

I smirked darkly and stepped off the desk, walking towards her slowly and letting my Alpha aura fill the room. Every one of them gasped and bared their neck, showing me their submission. Once I had it I let it recede and stood in front of the brunette, my hands on her desk and making her look at me.

“I may be 18, and you may think I am unworthy. You’re entitled to your opinion. But you will respect me, not only as an Alpha but as the Luna of this pack. I have no problem making an example out of the people who are rude to me and mine. This is your one and only warning. If you ever talk about my mates like that again, you’ll never get the chance to do it a second time. Do I make myself clear?” My voice was calm and even and her eyes were wide in fright as mine were glowing with the power of my wolf. Her heart was beating and I could see the pulse point in her neck thumping like crazy. She nodded and bared her neck again in submission.

“Yes Luna, it won’t happen again.”

“Good.” With that, I stepped back and smiled at the rest of the class before sitting back on the desk as if nothing happened. The blonde boy from before whistled as he gave me another look.

“That was incredibly hot.” He blurted before blushing and looking wide-eyed and afraid of being inappropriate with his Luna. “Respectfully Luna.” He quickly said as a follow up which made almost everyone in the room laugh including myself.

“You’re fine. I’m not easy to ruffle, I just don’t like when my mates are insulted. And I will always shut down a challenge when it’s not warranted. Other than that I like to think I’m pretty easygoing. Mother Fu-!”

I yelped and jolted off the desk as the phone in my back pocket vibrated and made a loud sound against the table and caused a weird and shocking sensation on my butt. I laughed loudly with the class as I held a hand to my chest and took the offending item out of my pocket and looked at the text. Damn Tor always texting at the worst times possible.

By the time Kane walked back in with the teacher I was wiping the tears from my eyes from laughing so hard while a few people were slumped over their desks and clutching their stomachs. Kane smiled and came up to me, cupping my cheek and rubbing his thumb over my skin. I smiled at him and took his hand with mine, lacing our fingers together.

“I’m glad to see you’re having a good time with your pack members. Shall we leave them to their work and continue on with our tour my love?” He asked with a smile as he pulled me to him. I nodded and we said our goodbyes to the classroom before leaving the school and heading into the center of his small city to all the shops along the Main Street.

As we walked he pointed out different shops and explained who owned them, how long they’d been there and things like that. It was nice to hear him talk about his pack like this, and how passionate he was about every aspect of it. He was an amazing Alpha and very involved with his members. We went inside a small boutique with very beautifully made clothes. They had various styles hanging up and I found I loved a lot of them, the tunic style tops having an amazingly soft material to them and good quality jeans. I walked through the racks while Kane talked with the owner for a moment before coming back to me.

“The closet has space for you in the bedroom. It would be nice to keep some clothes in there so that you have things you need when you come here. That way you don’t always need to pack a big bag. Besides, I want to spoil you and buy you things.” He said with a smile as he came to stand behind me and wrapped his arms around me. I laughed and relaxed back into him.

“Well, who am I to refuse an Alpha with an offer like that?” I teased as I kissed his arm. “I’m not going to go crazy, but having a few things here would be nice, yes.” I conceded as I pulled a nice soft cardigan off the rack and held it up to look at it.

“Then it’s settled. Pick out what you’d like and it will be sent to the packhouse .”

For the rest of the afternoon, we shopped in the various boutiques and he bought me so much more than I needed. Any time I looked at something in interest he bought it for me. It was sweet but unnecessary. He wouldn’t stop though, he said he wanted to get me anything my heart desired. Said it was absolutely necessary for the times I lived with him. I told him turnabout is fair play and I didn’t want to hear a complaint from him if I bought things for him to keep at my house. We sealed the deal with a kiss.
