[Astoria’s Pov]

When I opened my eyes, the ceiling above didn’t look like the one I was used to seeing every morning. This one had dark wood beams and…then the lighting seemed too…dull.

Why was I—

The question triggered the memories.

The wedding. Lena running. The forest.

And then—

The wolf.

The mere memory of that massive creature made me gasp. I pushed myself upright too quickly.

Immediately, I regretted it as pain lanced through my head.

“Easy.”

Vladimir’s voice came from the chair beside th

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   For the Best

[Astoria’s POV]The next morning arrived far too quickly.I didn’t leave immediately, but stayed in bed for the next 10 minutes or so, wondering why I had thought that my mother would call me to her wedding out of love for me.‘She only wanted to show how much she cares for me so she can be high up in Matthew’s eyes,’ I thought unkindly. My eyes stung at the thought. The humiliation burned under my skin tenfold.I dressed quietly, choosing something simple, jeans, and a loose top. Like a device running on autopilot, I packed my stuff. I took nothing that I was gifted by the Romeros or my mother. However, it took significant effort on my end to take off the ornaments that Viktor and Vladimir had gifted me. My throat closed up as I stared at the velvet boxes that now sat neatly on the dresser.Letting out a shaky breath, I stepped out of the room and made my way downstairs. The house was quieter now, the aftermath of the wedding and my…accident still lingering in the air.I found Matthe

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   Going Back

[Astoria’s POV]When I opened my eyes the next time, I realized that I had been somehow shifted back to my room. For a few seconds, I simply lay there, staring at the now familiar ceiling, trying to piece together how I had gotten here.Viktor’s words and Vladimir’s agreement flooded back into my mind. My stomach twisted at the memory. From the proofs, I knew I wasn’t hallucinating nor was I being convinced of something that didn’t exist, because it did. This fact made a dead weight settle in my chest.I wondered if my mother knew. Even if she did, she wouldn’t care as long as she was in the lap of luxury. The thought made my mouth taste bitter.A soft knock came at the door, and I stiffened instinctively. For a brief moment, I thought it might be Viktor again. My heart betrayed my mind by picking up its pace.“Come in,” I called out, hoping that my voice was not shaky. I sat up on the bed as the door opened.Unfortunately, it wasn’t Viktor; it was my mother. For a second, something i

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   Traitor

[Viktor’s POV]“Rest,” I said as I forced myself to leave the room and let Vladimir take care of Astoria. There was a more important matter to handle.‘Is Astoria alright?’ My father’s voice drifted through the mindlink. I clenched my jaw, wondering if it was only him asking or if there was any concern from Evelyn too.‘Better,’ I replied nonetheless.‘I am glad. Evelyn was worried,’ he said, genuinely sounding relieved.‘I am going to look into the breaching of the territory,’ I said before Dad could even say anything.‘Great, keep me updated,’ he said.I hummed before putting up my mental block, a feat that has kept me sane until now.Right. Rogues. I needed to put my mind in that matter, and not…Not the way Astoria’s heartbeat notched up when I stepped too close, or the way she had looked at me, terrified, yet refusing to back down.I exhaled sharply and strode down the corridor. But soon I was joined by my brother.“She is resting, so I thought of joining you,” he said when I gav

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   World of the Wolves

[Astoria’s POV]I blinked. “A werewolf?”Viktor remained silent, and for the next few moments, there was this palpable, uncomfortable tension hovering between us that made me want to squirm. I almost thought he would smirk, showing how his humor could be morbid, and maybe say that he was simply joking. He didn’t do any of that. When the silence became too much to bear, I let out a short, strained laugh, hoping the sound would break whatever strange tension had settled in the room.“You’re kidding,” I said, though I sounded extremely unconvincing even to myself. “You’re seriously telling me that thing in the forest was a mythical creature?”I mean I’ve read fantasy novels on werewolves and vampires, but to think either of them could be even real felt like beyond madness.Viktor regarded me silently, his expression neutral. It irritated me that I couldn’t read him or understand what was going on inside his head.“Do I look like I’m joking?” He sounded slightly annoyed.“Okay,” I said sl

The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up, and there was a faint smear of dirt along one cuff. Before I could question anything, he said calmly, “You fainted.”“Well, duh,” I couldn’t help but reply drily. That wasn’t what I wanted to ask.Vladimir gave me a pointed, albeit amused look. But I couldn’t smile as another memory surged back with bru

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   The Wedding

[Astoria’s POV]The hallway outside thrummed with laughter and vibrance.Below were guests whom I didn’t know at all, but for some reason, I did not feel nervous. My gaze darted to the man beside me and I was struck by the effortless way our strides matched. We weren't touching, but that necklace had changed something.Vladimir was waiting at the base of the stairs. He straightened as we approached, his usual calm demeanor wavered as he smiled warmly at me."You look radiant," he complimented.I felt a ghost of a smile tug at my mouth. “That’s a very neutral compliment, Vlad."He didn't offer a witty comeback. Instead, he simply shrugged and opened his hand. Resting in his palm was a slim silver band, its surface etched with intricate engravings that looked ancient.Another heirloom?"For protection," he said, his voice dropping an octave.A familiar tightness gripped my chest. "I didn’t realize weddings required protection."“It’s a gesture for the daughters,” Vladimir said, his gaz
