QUEENETH’S POV

Before the First Watcher Blinked

The circle doesn’t tighten again.

It just… holds.

Not trapping.

Observing.

I can feel it now in a way I couldn’t before. Not just the Remnants standing at the edges, not just the symbols under my feet. Something else sits behind it all, quiet and steady, like a breath that never leaves.

Amy shifts inside me.

Not restless.

Listening.

“They’re not the center,” she murmurs.

I know.

I can feel it.

QUEENETH’S POVBefore the First Watcher BlinkedThe circle doesn’t tighten again. It just… holds. Not trapping.Observing.I can feel it now in a way I couldn’t before. Not just the Remnants standing at the edges, not just the symbols under my feet. Something else sits behind it all, quiet and steady, like a breath that never leaves.Amy shifts inside me.Not restless.Listening.“They’re not the center,” she murmurs.I know.I can feel it.The one who spoke earlier steps forward again. Slow. Careful. Like he understands something fragile has shifted and doesn’t want to break it too fast.“You’re different,” he says. Not admiration.Recognition.“I’ve heard that before,” I reply. My voice sounds steady. It doesn’t feel it.He nods slightly.“Yes. But not like this.”Silence stretches between us. Not empty. Waiting.“You built this,” I say, glancing at the symbols again, the faint hum still lingering under the ground.“No,” he answers.Simple.Certain.It lands harder than denial shoul

  • The Moon’s Pure wolf    Chapter Eighty Four- What Refuses To Hold Me

QUEENETH’S POVWhat Refuses to Hold MeIt starts the moment I step in.No warning this time.No pause. The second my foot crosses the edge of the symbols, the ground answers. Not gently.Force rises sharp and immediate, like something snapping awake after being held too long. The air tightens around me, pressing in from all sides. Not enough to crush. Enough to claim. The symbols light faintly beneath my feet.Recognition.Then rejection.I feel it try to take hold. Not my body.Something deeper. My balance. My center. The part of me that decides what I am allowed to do.Amy surges forward. Not panicked.Alert.“They’re trying to anchor you.”I can feel it.The pull downward. The attempt to root me in place, to make me part of the circle the same way Collins is.To make me still.Contained.Predictable.For half a breath, it almost works. My muscles lock.My chest tightens. The world narrows to the pressure wrapping around me, tightening, adjusting, learning the shape of me like it wa

  • The Moon’s Pure wolf    Chapter Eighty Three- What He Sees When I Don’t Look Away

QUEENETH’S POVWhat He Sees When I Don’t Look AwayI feel it before I step into the clearing. Not the bond this time.Something else.Pressure that doesn’t belong to the ground or the air. Something built from intention. From too many eyes fixed on one outcome.Amy slows inside me.Not afraid.Listening.“They’re ready,” she murmurs.Of course they are.I step forward anyway. The clearing looks the same. That is what makes it worse.Collins is still there. Still on his knees. Still bound in that same invisible hold. No blood. No bruises. No sign that they have touched him at all.Untouched.Preserved.Like something kept for display. My chest tightens. That kind of control is not mercy. It is choice. They chose not to hurt him.Which means they chose something else instead. The symbols hum faintly under my feet as I stop at the edge again.Waiting.Always waiting. This time I feel them too.Not hidden. Not pretending. The Remnants.Seven of them. They don’t step out like enemies. They

  • The Moon’s Pure wolf    Chapter Eighty Two- The Path I Don’t Question

QUEENETH’S POVThe Path I Don’t QuestionThe argument starts before the sun is even gone.It does not explode. It builds.Low voices at first. Careful words. The kind people use when they are trying not to say what they really mean. Then it slips.Fear always does.“You cannot go alone.”“You don’t understand what this is.”“This is exactly what they want.”Voices stack over each other until none of them matter anymore. Faces blur together. Concern starts to sound like accusation. Protection starts to feel like a cage.I stand there and listen longer than I should. Not because I am considering it.Because a part of me wishes they were right in a way that would change anything. It doesn’t.“They marked him for me,” I say finally. That quiets them for a second. Not enough.“We can send a team.”“No.”“We can break the formation together.”“No.”“You don’t even know what it will do to you.”That one almost lands.Almost.I look at the one who said it.“You think I don’t?” I ask. They don

  • The Moon’s Pure wolf    Chapter Eighty One- Where They Want Me

QUEENETH’S POVWhere They Want MeAt first, I think he stepped away. That’s how normal it looks. The space beside me is just… empty. No sign of struggle. No broken ground. No scent of panic hanging in the air.Just absence. My body notices before my mind does. The bond pulls. Not gone.Worse.Stretched.Like something took hold of it and dragged it farther than it should ever go.I turn slowly. He’s not there.“Collins?” I call.It comes out quieter than I expect. No answer. The others are moving now. Not fast. Not chaotic. That careful kind of movement that means something is already wrong and no one wants to be the one to say it first.“Where is he?” I ask.Someone opens their mouth.Closes it.That is enough. My chest tightens in a way that doesn’t feel like fear yet. It feels like the moment before it. The part where everything is still trying to pretend it’s fine. Then the bond pulls again.Stronger this time.Direction.Amy rises immediately.“This isn’t like the ambush.”No.It

  • The Moon’s Pure wolf    Chapter Eighty- What Restraint Costs

QUEENETH’S POVWhat Restraint CostsDawn should feel softer than night. It doesn’t.It comes in wrong.Too quiet. No birds. No wind moving through the broken trees. Even the fire has died down to something small and stubborn, like it is holding on out of habit instead of warmth.I wake before my eyes open. That feeling again.Pressure.Not around me.Through me.Amy is already awake, pacing hard against my ribs.“Up,” she says.I am already moving.By the time I push myself to my feet, something in the air has shifted completely. The others feel it too. I see it in the way shoulders tense, in how hands move without being told.No one speaks. We don’t get the chance to.The first scream cuts through the morning before the light fully settles. Not close.Too close.I turn toward it and everything happens too fast after that.A body hits the ground somewhere behind the tree line.A second sound follows. Not a scream.A choke that ends too quickly. My chest tightens.No.No no no.“Move!”

QUEENETH’S POVWhat Answers When I ArriveI smell blood before I hear anything. Not fresh panic. Not the sharp confusion of an ambush. This is organized. Clean. The kind of violence that knows exactly where it is going. The pack is already fighting when I cross the boundary. I feel it the moment my

QUEENETH’S POVThe Voice That Was WaitingI think I am alone. That is the lie that makes it easy for him.The forest has closed around me like a held breath. Leaves barely move. QUEENETH’S POVWhat They Built and Called DestinyThey do not summon me gently. No careful knock. No polite request masked as concern. The message reaches me through the pack like a tightening wire.
