Chapter Twenty-One—The Alpha’s affair(3)

“Aurora??” I repeated, blinking rapidly.

“Yes,” Dinah’s eyes narrowed as she walked up to an object, “The painting.”

“What??”

“Where’d you get it from?” She asked, pointing at the canvas hoisted on one of the chairs.

I heaved a sigh of relief, for a moment I thought I was caught in the act with a human. I glanced in the direction of the painting and squirmed my lips, I had totally forgotten about the painting. It was a catalyst as to why Aurora was in my bed right now, I couldn’t help but smirk just thinking about it.

“It was a gift.” I murmured.

Dinah’s eyes sparked with curiosity, “A gift?”

“Yes” I frowned, not wanting to press this any further or repeat myself.

“It’s so beautiful,” She said as her hands caressed over the strokes, “Whoever did this sure knows her work.”

She was good in bed too, I thought dirtily.

A twinkle of amusement flashed through my eyes as I

Forty-Six—My mate is gone **ASHER** Dinah woke up the next morning fully healed, all thanks to Reagan’s spectacular healing powers. I stayed with her all night as she breathed heavily, making sure she was okay and there were no complications. She stirred at a moment in the middle of the night, making the guilt in me deepen even more. It was all my fault. I lied to her. I lied to the pack. I lied to Aurora and I put her in danger. Dinah yawned loudly as she finally opened her eyes and turned around. I remained seated on the chair next to her, tired but unable to sleep another wink, as every darkness reminded me of my betrayal. “Good morning.” She murmured. I nodded in response. An awkward silence ensued between us. She smiled now, “Did you stay with me all night.” I nodded again. She sighed, “Come on Asher. You should speak to me.” “I’m sorry,” I muttered finally, “I should’ve stayed away from her. I shouldn’t have lied to you and the rest of th

Forty-Five—War is Coming(2)**AURORA** I couldn’t sleep, despite cozy room I was given. The windows gave me a Mountain View of Midnight Bay, a rather beautiful sight to behold. I stared at it, my eyes catching Monsoon Creek from afar. Asher’s last words still playing in my ears. I was willing to forgive him, accept him whole. I wanted him, werewolf and all. I didn’t even get the chance to show my true feelings, until he showed his true self by betraying me. Stifling a yawn, I walked to the edge of the bed and sat down. Then a knock came moments later, i turned around sharply to see Sebastian by the doorway. “Hi.” I muttered. “Beer?” He asked. I looked down at his hands and saw a six pack of Star Rager. I nodded and he came in, placing the case by the bedside. He corked open one of the bottles and handed it to me. I took a swift gulp. “So…” he smiled, “Why didn’t you tell Billie Jo that you slept with the Alpha already?” I paused. Froze even. My hands

Forty_Four—War**ASHER** My heart felt even more hollow as the time passed. I could barely sleep. Rolling on and about my bed, throwing the covers off me and back onto my body. I was a werewolf, the cold had no effect on me and yet I felt a shiver in my very bones. I hated myself. I didn’t deserve to be Alpha. I picked my pack over my own mate. Her eyes. The look in her eyes as I pushed her down haunted my very soul. I did it for her own good, despite feeding her to the dogs. I held onto the slight chance that she might have made it to the other side, gotten somewhere safe…away from Dinah and the others. They hadn’t returned yet which I found strange. I gulped hard, finally got up and made my way into the kitchen to pour myself a glass of water. Reagan was also wide awake. He grunted, acknowledging my presence. I frowned, “You must be happy. Aren’t you?” “You know I did this for your own— “I don’t care.” I sighed deeply, pouring myself a glas

Forty-Three—The Hunter Group(3) Sebastian poured me a cup of hot chocolate. I almost moaned at the taste, as the hot liquid went down my throat, not realizing how cold it was. He handed me a blanket seconds later, wrapped it around my quivering body. It smelled of gunpowder, a scent I ignored. I took my time to finally study the cabin. It was big, with a spacious living room that had demarcations—into a bar area and a somewhat playpen, from the pool table and a dart board by the wall. A worn out couch stood in the middle of the room, covered with perfectly handwoven quilts. Then an old looking television, mounted on a mahogany shelf. There were antlers pronging from both sides of the corner. I gulped hard staring at the horrid furniture. “You seem to be judging our decor.” Billie Jo chuckled softly. I shrugged, “I’m an artist.” “Just like your grandpa. I guess it runs in the blood.” He replied. I frowned deeply, “You seem to know a lot about my fa

Forty-Two—The Hunter Group(2) “Hi I’m Sebastian.” He repeated again, the one who saved me. I panted heavily, unable to fathom or gather my very own thoughts. Scared. Terrified from the high chase that was almost bound to take my life by Dinah, she was a Luna from what she said. He stretched forth his hand again, right after he adjusted the string on his mechanic bow. I could smell the poison on it—Wolfsbane. My heart thumped so fast, I was scared it would rip from my chest, as I stretched my hands towards him. He pulled me up, I dusted the granules of dirt away from the back of my skirt. Still panting heavily, he led me down the forest whilst looking sideways frantically. He was a stranger and yet I held onto him like my life depended on it. “Stay close. There might be more from the pack looming around.” “Pack??” My voice was raspy, “You know all about them?” “The Midnight Pack?” He replied, “Yes I do. They’ve been terrorizing the town for centuries. I thoug

  • The Moonlight Affair    Chapter41–The Hunter’s Guild

Thirty-Nine—It’s over**ASHER** A dreadful sense of woe washed through me as I stood in front of the door to the Blackwood Mansion. My own home. I was the alpha, the first of my kind, and yet I was scared to go into my own home to face the pack. My ears pronged as I exerted my hearing powers, a clear ploy to eavesdrop on their conversation. I could hear the stomps from Monty’s boots as he paced back and forth, Saul’s huffing from his heavy breath, Gina remaining as silent as ever. Himmel, Spike, Samuel and Jordan. They all were speaking over each other until Dinah yelled for peace and quiet. I gulped hard. “He’s here.” I heard Reagan say and the door opened. They all turned to look at me, piercing eyes, enough to stab me through the guts if they could. Reagan sighed deeply, “Let’s all go to the living room. The hallway is studded as it is. I made some caramel pop— “Shove your treats up your ass Reagan. That’s not what we’re here for.” Saul snapped, his voice alw
