Forty-Two

Dante stared at the cliff. His head was aching and he was starting to feel light-headed. She had fallen down the cliff and he had done nothing to save her.

He had watched her fall down the cliff without fighting for her life. She had fallen into the water probably hitting a rock or drowning.

Either way, she was dead and he hadn't been able to stop her. He could have confessed and not given Xavier the joy of breaking them up.

Xavier.

That single name sent rage through his spine. Whirling around he saw him sitting on the floor with his hands on his head.

"I didn't mean it like this, you are supposed to suffer not get the easy way out," Xavier kept muttering repeatedly.
