Chapter 1 :Phoebe’s Plight
Phoebe’s POV Never in my wildest dreams did I think my 18th birthday was going to end like this. Not with the scene of Jason, my boyfriend, fucking Stella, my step-sister, like he wanted to devour her. The moans and gasps echoed in his room, an unsettling irony of our shared hopes and laughter. My feet were rooted to the ground and my eyes widened, almost falling out of their sockets with disbelief as he kept thrusting deep into her. His eyes met mine, and I could swear I saw a flicker of something other than desire, but he quickly narrowed his eyes. He paused, his brows forming into a knot, before finally muttering “Why the hell did you come into my room without knocking?” His sharp voice, like a stranger’s, cut deeply into me. I tried speaking, but not a sound came out of my mouth. “Bitch, we don’t have all day,” Stella snapped, clearly annoyed that I had interrupted their heated moment. “Did you really think a pathetic omega like you will get to be his mate? Well, sorry to burst your bubble, it was all a bet,” she sneered, her voice thick with venom. Her words hit me, each one like a physical blow, a testament of my own foolishness. My chest tightened and my eyes blurred with tears. And I did what I was always good at: running. I stormed out of the room, running as fast as I could. I didn’t know where I was going, I just wanted to get away from him, from the lies and the taste of betrayal on my tongue. I sprinted into the woods as if being chased down by a beast, thinking it was going to ease my pain. But I was so wrong. Memories flooded my mind like a tune I couldn’t forget. Our first kiss, the way he had looked at me like I was the only thing that mattered, and the promises of protection. Now, it all seems like a cruel joke. “How could he do this to me? I murmured to myself, my voice cracking. “What was I even thinking? Believing an alpha and a son of one of the strongest will love a weak and lowly omega like me.” The questions rang in my head as I curled into a ball. “Not worthy” echoed in my mind like an endless repeating tape, which I’ve been told my whole life. I had learned not to ask for much. Endured all the humiliation and hatred from everyone, including my family. Then Jason came along, I had thought maybe, just maybe someone could finally love me. But I should have known better. “Phoebe?” A voice I knew too well called out. Turning around, I saw my only best friend, Willow, staring at me with her big teary doe-eyes. “What happened to you? She whispered softly while placing her hand on my shoulder. I immediately drew her into a tight hug, finally letting out all the tears I was holding in. My body shook as I struggled to breathe through each tear that dropped. I tried my best to stop the cries, but I was unable to stop the force of my grief. Willow didn’t say a word nor asked questions, she only wrapped her hands around me tightly. After what seemed like forever, I finally spoke “Ja…Jason, he hurt me.” I said through clenched teeth. Maybe I was hallucinating, but for a brief moment, I saw a cold glint flicker through Willow’s eyes. “Shhh, he’s not worth it,” she replied, handing me a handkerchief for my runny nose. “Tonight is our night. We’ll finally shift and find our mates.” Hearing that, I felt relieved and was looking forward to finding my soulmate, but for some unknown reason, I had a bad feeling about the whole thing. We heard loud howls and jubilations which signified the beginning of the shift. We ran, but Willow slowed to meet my pace as an omega. We finally got close to the pack house and almost immediately, Willow’s golden eyes glowed in the dark and I could hear the intense snapping of her bones, before she finally transformed into a beautiful wolf with brown furs. “Willow! Your wolf is breathtaking!” I exclaimed while beaming with a smile. She replied by rubbing her soft furs against me before she ran towards everyone who had transformed. I closed my eyes while my heart raced faster, expecting my own transformation, but nothing happened. I could see my Father’s big black wolf locking its gaze at me. Then the stare got heavy as the pack’s eyes were transfixed in my direction. It was then I realized, I was the only one who was of age, who hadn’t shifted. My knees went weak and a beam of sweat formed on my forehead as my gaze darted away and was focused on the ground. “No no, it can’t be. Please goddess, don’t do this to me. Being an omega is already enough trouble,” I prayed in my head, hoping it will somehow change my fate. Unfortunately it didn’t. The vacant stare from my father made my chest tighten. He’s probably wondering how a beta like him ended up having a failure as a daughter. “Phoebe, you can’t shift,” Willow gasped while covering her mouth with her hand as she went back to her human form. Then the whispers began.“She’s cursed.” “She’s too powerless and doesn’t deserve to be in our pack.” “How could two strong wolves give birth to something so worthless”. Their words were like arrows shot straight into my heart. I couldn’t even raise my head because they were all right. I don’t deserve to be here. Then I saw Jason, his face a mask of conflicting emotions. And then, the worst happened. Willow walked up to Jason and said something that shattered my life forever “ Mate,” she said clearly without remorse. The world tilted and i trembled, feeling like my soul had left my body.Lucas’s POVSilence. Nobody spoke. John’s face had gone completely pale. “That’s impossible,” he whispered.“One person can’t erase an entire race.”None of us believed our own words. Because the journal was right before us.Written by Mr.Grim Reaper. And if Felicia truly wiped out the vampires…Then Phoebe wasn’t traveling with her mother…she was traveling with a monster.A sudden cold swept through the room. The journal flipped rapidly on its own.“That’s not normal,” Aurora whispered, taking a step back. Then, a page turned on its own.An invisible ink made new words.Too lateMy brows furrowed. Too late for?Aurora grabbed my arm. “Lucas…we need to leave. Now!”But I couldn’t move. Because one sentence was forming at the bottom of the page. The girl belongs to her.My heart dropped. Was it referring to…Phoebe? Then, we heard footsteps approaching. My body went cold. “We’re dead meat,” Aurora whispered. “Guys, hide,” I said, my voice barely audible. I hid under the desk.
Chapter 54 : The Journal filled with secrets Lucas’s POVIt had been two days. Two days without Phoebe. My wolf and I were losing it. Each second without her felt like I was breathing in fire. The room was as silent as a graveyard, the air thick with tension. “So what’s the plan?” Aurora asked.I sighed, my fingers pushing through my hair.“I-I don’t know.”“Eric did say the answers we seek lies with Mr. Grim Reaper,” John uttered.“Yeah. But the problem now is…how do we get it from him?”“Maybe we could ask…nicely?” John suggested. Before he could say more, Aurora shot him a disapproving look. “Try to think with your brain, not your butthole.”Their voices faded into nothingness, the thought of her invading my mind.I hadn’t slept. I couldn’t.Because everytime I closed my eyes, all I could see…was her. Somewhere out there, Phoebe was all alone. No. I can’t just fold my hands and watch. I have to do something. Then, a crazy idea popped in my head.“What if…what if we could
Lucas’s POV Suddenly, my chest ached, feeling like razors slashing at my heart. Lucian, my wolf, roared, intensively clawing against my chest like he wanted to come out. “What’s happening?”“Mate! Mate!” Lucian howled. My stomach dropped. “Phoebe!” I called out, jolting out of my bed. “Lucas, I wish I could tell you. But I can’t.” Her voice rang in my head. The way she looked broken, as if carrying the world behind her shoulders. I knew she was hiding something. But I hope it’s not what I’m thinking. My door bursted open violently, Aurora’s flushed face coming into view. Her chest heaved, her breathing coming out as ragged gasps. “Lucas,” Aurora panted, looking like she just ran a marathon race. “Phoe..Phoebe…she’s gone.”Colour drained from my face. “What do you mean she’s gone?” I asked, standing up abruptly. “She’s no longer in the school.”My heart sank. “She told me she was leaving,” Aurora continued. “But I didn’t know it will be this soon.” “What?”“I’m sorry I didn’
Phoebe’s POV When it was exactly 5pm, I picked up my bag. My gaze swept through the room, lingering on Aurora’s ugly writing on the wall. BESTIES FOREVER. A small smile formed on my lips as memories flooded my mind. The way she had placed her hand on her hip, pushing out her chest as if she had just created a masterpiece. “You’re impossible,” I had told her. “Yet you love me,” she replied, before jumping on the bed. My fingers brushed softly against the wall. Every corner reminded me of what I was going to lose. Eric sneaking through my window with that annoying smirk on his face. The way my face lit up at the sight of Lucas. Everything. My grip on the door handle tightened. Suddenly, it was difficult to breathe. The room felt smaller, as if it was begging me not to leave. With a deep sigh, I dragged my feet, walking away. The moment I stepped outside the school gates, my vision blurred. I couldn’t help but stare at the building one last time. Crimson Moon Acad
Phoebe’s POV“I think we should break up.” I regretted the words that slipped out of my mouth. But it was too late. I had already said it. Lucas's face was as pale as white sheet.“What did you say?”“You heard me loud and clear,” I replied.“I’m not saying we should break the mate bond,” I added. “I just want…space.” Each syllable made my chest ache and my wolf, Selene whine in my head, protesting rigorously. “Is this a sort of prank,” Lucas asked. “You know it’s not,” I whispered. The world narrowed to just us, the noise around me disappearing. The horrified stares. Derek’s groans. Nothing else mattered anymore. “Are you in a sort of danger?” He asked. “No.”“You’re lying.”“I’m not.”“For fuck sake, your heart beat changes every time you lie.”I swallowed hard. Damn mate bond. “Please, leave me alone.”Lucas stared at me like he couldn’t recognize the person standing in front of him. His jaw tightened. “Look at me and tell me you don’t love me anymore.”My throat burned.
Phoebe’s POV A breath caught in my throat as I pushed my room door open. Felicia. She sat quietly on the edge of my bed, her gaze boring a hole through me. “Hope you’ve said all your goodbyes,” she said, her voice devoid of any emotion. “We leave tomorrow evening.” My chest tightened. The word “tomorrow” rang over and over in my head. The atmosphere in the room dropped, feeling suffocating. My gaze drifted unconsciously around the room. The memories Aurora and I had shared. My first kiss with Eric. This place had become my home. And now I was leaving it behind. “Okay, Felicia,” I nodded. She tilted her head. “You don’t look happy.” “Of course, I am,” I replied with a smile that didn’t reach my eyes. “You shouldn’t grow attached,” she murmured. “Once you do, it will become your weakness.” “Is that why you left me and dad?” I snapped, clenching my fist. Her body stiffened, obviously caught off guard. “Nonsense,” she retorted, something unknown flickering in
Phoebe’s POVBefore I could say a word, a girl strutted towards him. Her platinum blonde hair flowed behind her as she swayed her hips. Her footsteps, graceful yet calculative, her striking blue eyes staring daggers at me. She wrapped her hands around him, a possessive gesture, marking her territor
Chapter 48: The darkness in herPhoebe’s POVThe air crackled with suffocating tension, so intense, only the sound of our breath could be heard.“How…how long have you been here?” I stammered, my fingers twisting together. Eric didn’t answer immediately. Instead be brought out a cigarette, slowing
Chapter 47Phoebe’s POVEverything about today just felt…off. I didn’t know if it was because of the way students stared at me with mixed emotions. Or the fact I could hear whispers from miles away; something no wolf should be able to do. My vision was sharper than usual, my ears picking every soun
Phoebe’s POVThe news hit me hard as I froze. Then a sudden comfortable silence fell between them, even amidst the chaos. I stood there, struggling to breathe, feeling as if my heart was being pierced by a thousand arrows while the pack cheered for them. He reached for her hands, subconsciously, hi
