Never:
Danica sighed as she walked into the captain’s cabin, her arm was throbbing. She was ignoring the best she could. She walked over to the desk and sat down. She glanced down at the piece of cloth she had tied over her wound, that was once white now bright red. She sighed again, her hand was starting to ache the pain radiating down into her finger tips. She pulled open the drawer to the right of her. Reaching, she grabbed some bandages. She frowned and she needed something to clean it with. She stood going to walk to the door.
The door opened up and Kaleb walked in holding a basin of water in his hands. She frowned instantly seeing him. She went to fold her arms across her chest to emphasize how displeased she was that he was here but the pain in her arm made her wince instead.
Caught: “I can't do this anymore!”Patrick shouted, slamming his fist down onto the desk causing the various items on it to shake. His father sat on the other side of the desk staring him down. He grabbed a hold of his glass of wine that was shaking tightly. He watched Patricks shoulders move up and down as he took deep breaths trying to calm himself down. Patricks fist was still resting on the desk as he matched his father’s stare. Their eyes locked burning into each other. Not one of them budging. “What do you mean can't!” Ed shouted back at him, breaking the silence. “This,...this whole scheme. I can't do this. It's wrong.” Patrick said, throwing his arms about as he talked. “You haven't even done anything. You h
Secrets:Patrick didn't flinch hearing the noise, he was more annoyed than anything. He eyed the man standing in the doorway. He was an older man with bronze colored hair standing in the door, his hand flinching on the sword hanging from his side. His hazel eyes burned into Patrick’s. Patrick’s hand shifted from Ariadne’s waist to his hip where he kept his dagger.“Can we help you?” Patrick asked through his teeth.Ariadne hadn’t even heard the shout. She seemed confused as she shifted herself to look behind her. Her face turned several shades of red as she went to move away from patrick. Patrick held her in place, his eyes deadly locked on the man in the doorway.“Get your hands off my niece before I remove them from
The Evening Star:Ariadne closed her closet door open fiercely, she was confused and for some reason angry. Patrick had a brother? He was on the North Star? Why? Why didn't he say anything? Her stomach twisted with doubts. She grabbed several pieces of clothing mindlessly and shoved them in a bag. She grabbed a warm jacket and stood silently in her room, her thoughts racing. What if she couldn't trust him? What if he was a spy? Her Heart sank. A noise at her door withdrew her from her thoughts. She glanced to see her aunt leaning against the doorway. Her face worried.“Ari?” She asked quietly.“It's nothing Auntie, just thoughts that don't need to be addressed at this very moment. We need to save Dani.” Ariande said quietly walking to the doorway.“I think he’s a good man. There's something there I'm not sure wh
Shattered:Danica shifted slightly in her bed. She stretched searching for the warmth beside her. Her hand fell on the empty spot. It was still slightly warm from him. She opened her eyes slowly, his bare back was facing her as he was sitting on the edge of the bed. He had slipped on his pants but every muscle in his back was calling for hand to run over it. She smiled softly as she pulled the blanket around her, shifting closer to him. She reached up and slowly ran her hand down his back. He inched into her touch in response. She smiled bigger.“I thought I was going to have to wake you.” His deep voice said to her.“How about you forget I am awake and I’ll go back to sleep; then you can wake me.” She said her tone insinuating something more.
Full Circle: Ariadne’s grabbed the wheel as she watched the horizon. She had steered most of the evening and into the morning. She rolled her head back and forth trying to get the crank in her neck out. She stood on her tippy toes stretching her calves. God she was tired. She felt like everything on her was drooping. She wanted to sink into the floor and curl up. They were making great time and the longer she kept a hold of the wheel, the longer she felt like she was making progress to get to Dani. The longer she held on meant that she was being useful, she was saving someone else time so when they switched they could press on. That way there was never a moment when someone would struggle to steer. Steering was the hardest and most tedious part of the ship. The sun was peeking out over the ocean as it started to raise. She could see a large dark peak coming in
Adventure:Dancia had to remove herself, she was shaking. She could feel the tears begging to slip out from her eyes. She shut the door pushing Luke’s body from the doorway as she did. The blood had seeped into the captain's cabin but she didn't care. She stepped away from the door going to the desk and bracing herself with it. She turned facing the door and sank to the floor leaning back into the desk. Was everything a lie? She felt a warm tear slid down her cheek. She took long slow breaths in through her nose and then blew them out of her mouth. She needed to collect her thoughts. Kaleb looked genuinely surprised about Luke’s plan. But that bastard is his father. She thought to herself letting another long breath out through her mouth. Why would he kill Luke? Why wouldn't he just take over? He just surrendered and doomed all of his me
From the DeepDanica watched the passing rocks of the cliff side, her body completely still. She kept trying to keep her mind focused on the passage but her eyes kept flickering to a very quiet Kaleb. She frowned slightly watching him. He hadn't said anything else to her since. The silence was no longer comforting and she felt her heart tugging at her to say something; anything to him. She for some reason deep down believed him.Kaleb rested his arm on the upper deck looking forward. He was trying to focus on anything but the need to turn around and go to Danica. He searched the sky and then the rock walls. He narrowed his eyes. There was a crack in the continuous wall of rock. He squinted it wasn’t odd for walls of cliff to shift and separate but something about this crack caught his attention. As the ship sailed past it he looked into the crack, it was deep dark, and gave
Creatures: Kaleb’s knees hit the ground as he duck bracing himself. He used all of his strength to hold the sword above his head; praying the tentacle would impale itself. He shut his eyes and waited for impact. The world came crashing down on him and he felt warm hot liquid run over him. Looking up he saw the tentacle flopping around his bade. Within seconds the wait was being lifted off of him. Danica helped lift the tentacle off and let it flop to the side. Her sword covered in the same deep dark liquid as Kaleb’s sword. His eyes ran down the tentacle and saw it had been severed in half. The tentacle was still moving about as it hit the ground. Kaleb stood watching the scene in front of him. Tentacles laid about the ship, some still twitching. Dark almost black blood was spread across the deck floors. He looked down at his body and he matched the deck floors. He looked to Danica who was taking it
