I hadn’t stopped smiling since Alpha Keegan left. It still felt unreal that he had gotten me the things I loved because I stated them and when he admitted that my life was a mess, my heart was swollen, it felt like victory at last.

I got into the short body-hugging dress the woman had brought for me and since it was a dinner at the pack house, I wore my espadrilles and tied my hair into a ponytail. I made sure to use at least something from the numerous makeup items without certainty of their function or right use or application, then headed upstairs.

After a deep breath, I opened the door to the high-ranked members' dining room, clearly interrupting the ongoing discussion. The only people here were Mason, Crystal, Mae, Kate, Scarlett, Vladimir and a ray of excitement shone in my eyes to also spot Chloe. I quickly headed to her, avoiding the awkward gaze from everyone else and sat between her and Vladimir.
