Chapter 2

MAYA'S POV

My eyes fluttered open, but I had to close it back due to the intensity of the light. I opened it back, adjusting my eyes to the light. I tried to sit up, but winced in pain, laying down back. That was when the memories of what happened earlier came rushing into my head.

I remembered the last word I heard before going unconscious. Alpha Victor, the man, or monster that I was supposed to get married to had instructed Alpha Caleb to prepare me by wounding me, breaking me to the point that my body felt unrecognisable.

Being without a wolf has made me weak enough, we haven't even met, yet he has taken advantage of my weakness and destroyed me. What is going to happen when we get married?

My eyes watered at the thought of that, marriage to the Alpha of the Bloodfang Pack was impossible, but I had no option, I had been given an order and unless I wanted to be killed, I had to comply.

But that didn't mean that I didn't hate him, I hated him, I hated the thought of him, I hated the fact that he used his power to make me feel lifeless, I hated the fact that there was nothing I could do about it.

The door opened, revealing Julia who entered with a bowl of water and a small towel. I blinked my eyes to shoo away the tears that were threatening to fall as I didn't want her to see me in that state.

" You're awake, " she pointed out, smiling so brightly that I almost cooed at her. I tried to sit up again, this time around, with more struggle, but I ended up whimpering and lying back down. Noticing my pain, she rushed to my side, her worry taking over her smiling face as she put down the bowl.

" Are you okay? Do you need me to do anything for you? " She asked and I shook my head. I tried to sit up again and this time around, she helped me, making it less painful for me. As much as I hated the fact that it made me feel weak, I had no other option than to accept her help.

" What time is it? "I spoke out my voice coming out groggy. She soaked the towel in the bowl and used it to clean my arms, avoiding the wounds on my wrist.

" The people from Bloodfang Pack will be arriving in a little more than thirty minutes. Alpha Caleb sent me here to wake you up and help you get dressed, thank the goddess that I met you awake already, " she responded, the smile returning to her face. I nodded my head and tried to get up to get dressed. The last thing I wanted was another punishment from Alpha Caleb for making his guests wait.

Julia helped me all the way, cleaning me up and clothing me in the new dress Luna Barbara sent for me. Surprising. After she was done, she helped me downstairs, my things in her hands. Alpha Caleb, Luna Barbara, and Beta Justin were in the living room, talking to a man, or should I say a guy.

As much as I tried not to, I gawked at his appearance. He had sandy-blonde hair, blue eyes, and yet a lean and strong body that complimented his appearance. His whole presence screamed authority and I knew he must be of a high rank, but not the Alpha. 

' Alpha Victor can't be as handsome as this god standing in front of me, ' I thought to myself. I have never seen someone that handsome before. Everyone in the Moonfire Pack was as ugly as the scars on my body.

I saw the Alpha nudged his head in my direction and the guy turned to look at me, eyeing me from head to toe. Pursing my lips, I lowered my head in submission, not wanting to come out as challenging, praying to the Goddess that he wouldn't notice my wounds.

Julia had done a good job in concealing the wounds on my wrist and legs with makeup, but I still felt insecure even though I didn't know why. It was his Alpha who instructed this to be done to me, there was no way the wounds would affect him at all.

"She's the one you're sending to Alpha Victor? " The guy spoke out and I saw Alpha Caleb nodding his head as he put his hands behind him, not showing full submission, but still showing that he was giving his respect.

Without saying anything else, the guy came to my side, taking my bags from Julia and he led the way. On getting outside where his car was parked, he opened the back door and motioned for me to get inside, supporting my shoulders with his hands. I winced at the contact and he instantly dropped his hands.

" Are you alright? " He asked, his voice laced with concern. ' I refuse to fall for it. They're all the same, ' I chanted in my head as I nodded slowly, trying to not appear as weak even though my legs were giving out. Thankfully, he didn't say anything else and motioned for me to enter, not touching me this time.

" Wait for me, " Julia screamed as the guy started the car and we all turned to look at her. She smiled sheepishly, holding a bag. " Alpha Caleb said I could come with you. I have no use being here and he wouldn't mind losing two Omegas, " she said to me before turning to look at the guy. " That's okay with you, right? ".

Without waiting for his response, she opened the door and got in with me, taking my hands in hers. The guy started the car again and drove out of the packhouse. Julia and I looked back at the house and a single tear dropped from my eyes.

" It's going to be okay, we're going to survive this, " she assured, wiping off the tear from my face. I looked at her and smiled. It must have been hard for her too. We both grew here together, we have never stepped our foot off the borders of our pack. I knew that making this decision must have been very hard for her, but I was glad that I wouldn't be alone there.

We drove past the border of the pack and we both looked until we couldn't see the Moonfire Pack anymore. We sat down back, still holding each other's hands as I prayed to the Moon Goddess to help me.

I opened my eyes, wincing as I tried to sit up straight. I had dozed off during the ride, but we were still in the car. I looked over at Julia to see her sleeping soundly and I smiled weakly, a bit wanting to wake her up.

" You're awake, " the guy suddenly said and I turned to look at him. His face was fixated on the road, but he glanced at me with the rear mirror. I nodded my head, sighing as pain shot up in my head. I closed my eyes, placing my hands on my head just to find out that my temperature had gone up while I was sleeping.

" Please, how much longer until we get there? " I asked, dropping my hands. I had to do this, I had to be strong. There was no way I was going to meet the Alpha while being sick and weak like he wanted. No matter how sick I was, I was going to keep my cool until I met with the Alpha.

" We'll get there in twenty minutes, " he replied and I nodded. I could manage until then. Julia stirred in her sleep and I looked at her. Her eyes opened and she turned to me, rubbing her sleepy eyes.

" Maya, are you ok? " She asked as she saw my condition. My mouth was dry and bitter and I felt like my lips were breaking. The guy glanced at me again as Julia placed her palm on my forehead, gasping. " Goodness, you're developing a fever, " she said and I slapped her hands away.

" I'm fine. I'm just running a temperature, I'll be fine, " I assured. I didn't want the guy driving us to have any doubts about me. I looked at her and smiled softly, nodding my head.

" Are you sure you're alright? " He asked and I nodded, ignoring the urge to roll my eyes at his question. Who caused this in the first place? I would never give them that opportunity to break me.

We finally got to the border of the Bloodfang Pack and as soon as the guards saw his car, they lowered their heads in submission. As I said earlier, he must be of a high rank. Either the Beta or Gamma.

He drove inside the pack and I marvelled at the sight. It was different from the pack I came from. The size of the Pack was massive, kids ran about, playing on a particular side that looked like it was decorated for them. Teenagers, about my age and older were sparring, while others were training with their powers, making me jealous. Some elderly women were having conversations, and everywhere was lively and bright.

The guy drove past everything and stopped the car the moment he got to a house. Julia opened the door and got down with me following her behind. The moment I got down from the car, my legs staggered, almost making me fall and I held Julia for support.

'just a little more, Maya, survive a little more,' I told myself as I tried to regain my position. Julia held my hand, looking at me and I nodded my head.

The guy led the way, entering the house and we both followed him. On getting inside, he told us to wait there while he informed the Alpha of our presence.

" The house is nice, the Pack itself is a wow. Moonfire Pack isn't anywhere near this Pack, " Julia stated and I nodded my head weakly. The headache had increased, it was as if someone was drumming on my head.

We soon heard footsteps and straightened ourselves, prepared to meet the Alpha who came downstairs, keeping a blank face. To be honest, my eyeballs almost came out from its socket on seeing the Alpha. I thought the guy who came to pick us up was the most handsome, but I was very wrong.

With his black tousled hair and amber eyes, his strong and straight jawline as well as his muscular build screamed both power and authority. With every step he took towards me, the aura he carried with him increased. I swallowed my saliva as he licked his plump kissable lips, making me develop a kind of feeling I had never experienced before. He was completely different from the person I had imagined.

As he stopped in front of me, my eyes became heavy, the pain I was feeling doubled and my headache increased. My eyes turned, getting blurry and the next thing I knew was that I was falling and a hand was quick to catch me.

"MAYA!, "Julia's screams were the last thing I heard before going unconscious for the second time today.
