Chapter Sixteen.

Himari’s POV.

I pace back and forth at the foot of the stairwell, biting my nail in wait for Ciel. There’s no way I can climb up, what if I bump into the grumpy Zorien or the spiteful Kitra? None is better than the other. I deflate in turmoil, stopping my pace, this is so nerve-wracking.

“Himari, what’re you pacing about for?” I shoot my head up swiftly and see Ciel standing in the middle of the stairwell with deep laugh lines around his squinty eyes, and I flush sheepishly, doodling at my feet.

“Come up here, let’s go to my room” He invites casually, setting a blaring alarm in my head as I meet him with shock. Did he just mention his bedroom? Runa snickers at me, ‘Ready to bail out now as I had proposed earlier?’

Yet, I find myself following after him. We meet the spiteful Kitra on the way. She sees me and frowns. Ciel shields me, keeping a straight face at her as he opens the door to a room. “Get in, Mari”.

His bedroom is so different from Zorien’s, having large posters
