Chapter 8

A couple of minutes later, Charles arrived in his office with the usual cold expression on his face. Right after he accompanied Kelly to her car, he asked his assistant to get a copy of the surveillance camera in the cafe.

After 30 minutes, his assistant emailed to him a copy of the surveillance camera. He immediately opened it.

As soon as he finished watching the video, his expression became dark.

At first, he thought that Sam deliberately threw her cup of coffee on Kelly as she was jealous of her. However, he knew that Sam would not do it unreasonably. That’s why he asked for a copy of the surveillance camera.

And it turned out that Kelly was the one who approached Sam and intentionally spilled the coffee. Sam just fought back. Now, he understood why Sam said those words before she left.

He thought that she must be very upset that she was not able to control her temper. He called his assistant and instructed something.

After the call, he pulled his drawer open. Then, he got a tiny peach box from it. He opened it up leisurely that revealed the enormous and brilliantly sparkling diamond ring inside. That was the ring he bought for Sam for his proposal.

Three years had passed, but that incident was still vivid in his memory. That was their first anniversary.

He thought everything would fall into place as

they were deeply in love with each other at that time. He really wanted to settle down with her and he thought that she must be feeling the same.

So he planned everything. He booked a reservation at their favorite restaurant and made arrangements to decorate it with different kinds of beautiful flowers. He even hires a pianist to make it even more romantic.

He was so excited that he was not able to sleep the night before.

However, Sam had no idea. It never crossed her mind that he will propose on their first anniversary. She knows that it's still so soon for Charles to do that.

When Charles invited her, she just thought that it was a romantic dinner to celebrate their anniversary.

When the day came, Charles picked her up as usual. They went happily to the restaurant.

The moment they entered the restaurant, Sam immediately noticed the different kinds and colorful flowers all over the place.

There was a combination of red roses, fluffy bloom peonies, swirly buttercups, and pink asters from the entrance to their way to the table.

She was captivated by their beauty. She could not explain the happiness that filled her heart. The sight was indeed breathtaking and pleasing to the eyes.

“Charles they look so beautiful. Thank you.” She said sweetly with her almond-shaped bright eyes.

“Do you love it?” Charles was so satisfied to see her reaction and got even more excited.

“Very much!” She exclaimed.

Moreover, she also heard classical music being played by the pianist. She felt relaxed and warm deep inside.

Love was really in the air!

Different kinds of dishes were served right after they took their seat. They had a little chat while eating. After they finished eating, Charles immediately pulled out of his pocket the ring box. He could not wait any longer.

“I have something to ask you.” He said in a serious tone.

“What is it?” She looked at him in the eyes while wiping her lips.

Charles kneeled instantaneously. Sam was bewildered. Her heart beats so fast the moment he kneeled.

“Sam, will you marry me?” He asked while his eyes glitter.

Charles clearly recalled everything until Sam ran away. Then his phone rang.

“Mr. Davidson, I already did what you asked.”

“Good.” His lips slightly curved upward.

Meanwhile, Sam received a bouquet of red roses from an unknown sender.

'It must be Henry.' She thought.

Then, Henry suddenly came to her office. He saw the bouquet of red roses on her table.

"Thank you for the roses, Henry." She smiled naturally.

"I did not send those flowers." He knitted his thick eyebrows.

"Huh?" She answered in confusion.

If it was not Henry, who would send her these flowers?

Henry left after they discussed their upcoming product launch.

Sam was left puzzled. Then, there was a knock on the door.

Knock! Knock!

She said "come in" and was surprised to see who entered the door. It was Mr. Robert Lee behind the receptionist.

She stood up immediately and greet Mr. Lee. She remembered that today is the signing of their agreement with their company.

"Hi, Ms. Wilson" Mr. Lee greeted her back.

"Mr. Lee, it was nice to see you here. You're here to sign the agreement?" She asked but she wondered why he dropped by her office. The signing will be in the CEO's office.

"Yes, I just dropped by to see you. By the way, you don't need to be polite. Just call me Robert."

"Mr. Lee you are so kind. But how can I possibly do that?" She asked timidly.

"Do it because I asked you to. Anyway, are you free for lunch? Since I was here, let me treat you after the contract signing." He smiled.

"Then, call me Sam. But you don't need to treat me, Mr. Lee. I mean R-Robert." She refused politely.

"No, I insist." He said solemnly.

"Okay, if you insist."She agreed thinking that she might offend him if she continued to refuse.

"See you later then, Sam." He smiled then turned to leave.

As soon as the contract signing was finished, Robert came again to Sam's office.

"Sam, are you ready for lunch?"

"Yes, I'm ready." She replied.
