Chapter 5

IN THE SYNTAX QUARTER, 

“ Did you see what I see?” Victoria  asked Luna and Jacob who was with her in the living room watching an action movie.

“ What?” Luna and Jacob asked.

“  It felts like Devon is glowing, I even noticed the little smile on his face.” Victoria gossiped.

“ And why is that?” Luna asked in a frown.

“ It felts like he is happy.” Victoria said and grinned widely.

“ What’s wrong with that, everyone can be happy.” Luna said.

“ Luna’s right, why’d bother making a scene in your head.” Jacob shrugged his shoulder and ignored Victoria.

While Devon is making a supper for them, secretly listening to their conversation.

While In Xoyo’s house, after she helped her grandfather cleaned the front yard, Xoyo decided to asked his grandfather about werewolves.

“ Tell me grandpa, is there really such thing as werewolf mate? And do they really need to do that –“

“ the what?” her grandfather asked.

“ You know, when they found their mate and they had to seal the deal.” She blushed.

“ I see, Werewolves are mysterious creatures that are hard to understand, and myths and legends had different thoughts, beliefs and ideas about them, however, for what I know, werewolf are bound to find their mate, though others are unfortunate, but everyone has an other half.”

“ hmm.”

“ Once a werewolf find their mate, he marks her to let others knew that she’s already taken, and that mark will remain together. Then there’s the sealing of bond, they sealed it by mating, after that its impossible for them to live apart o matter what. And when the bond is sealed, they would ante a lot more than usual.” The old man explained and after hearing the last part, Xoyo blushed furiously.

“ That’s –“

“ That’s the rules of nature in the werewolves lives my granddaughter.” He said and Xoyo was left in the front yard full of thinking.

Night class, Xoyo walked down the bumpy path to the school but this time, Devon is waiting for her in the wood a little further away from her house to make sure she won’t get attacked by a rogue wolf.

“ Finally you’re here.” Devon uttered.

“ Sorry if I came a little late.” She smiled.

“ I’m fine. Let’s go.” Devon smiled.

“ Isn’t it kind of weird if we go inside the room Together? There would be questions afterwards that might put us in a hot seat.” Xoyo uttered.

“ About that, let me take care of it.” He said and Xoyo nodded. The two young lovers went inside the room together and the syntax greeted them.

“ How’d you guys can here together?” Jacob asked.

“ I was watching the premises when I saw her, so I planned of going here with her.” Devon answered 

“ that’s great, you guys looked good together.” Luna uttered.

“ Yeah, but you looked nicer if you put your hair in a ponytail ,Xoyo.” Victoria suggested.

“ NO!” Xoyo blurted out.

“ Huh??”

“ uh- uh, I’m sorry.” Xoyo asked for an apology and sat down on her chair, she fixed her hair but didn’t bothered to tie it into a ponytail to hid the mark on her neck.

Devon sat beside her.

“ You’re cold.” He teased.

“ I’m not.” Xoyo looked away. She’s trying not to get a little closer to him but he kept on getting closer to her.

“ Anyway, guys meet Jasper, he is my mate.” Luna spoke up when a guy with a good-physique and has a blue eyes, entered the room, he is in his Blue green hoodie and pants and is looking cooler with the skateboard he was holding.

“ Hi there everyone.” He greeted the people inside the room.

“ Oh man, your mate is a one of the hunks here Luna.” One of their classmate said and Luna chuckled.

“ Thanks.”

“ Hi Jasper.” Everyone greeted him. 

And when jasper stared at Xoyo, Devon frowned and gave the man a warning look. Jasper smiled and turned to his mate. Luna guide him to her seat and let him took the vacant seat beside her.

“ I thought you would never make it.” Luna said.

“ Why not?”

“ You’re too busy.”

“ Cluster 1 B needs Me you know.” Jasper uttered.

“ Don’t you missed me?” Luna joked.

“ Of course I did.” Jasper laughed and he kissed his girlfriend in front of the students .

“ You guys better find a hotel room, this place is sacred, you can’t messed up here.” Jacob joked and everyone laughed.

“ Nah, as a class president I still got my duties.” Luna grinned mischievously.

“ See, you guys are cute.” Xoyo commented and Devon stared at her that made her heart skipped a beat.

“ Hmm, they are cute, aren’t they?” she asked Devon nervously and Devon looked at the two couple and then stared back to Xoyo.

“ Do you want us to kiss too?” He asked in a small voice.

Xoyo blushed and felt embarrassed.

“ That’s not what I meant! “ she glared at her.

“ Really?” 

“ uh-huh.”

“ You two, what are you guys whispering to each other?” Jacob asked Xoyo and Devon when he noticed them.

And the two young lovers realized that they were too closed to each other.

Xoyo and Devon instantly split apart and looked at the opposite side.

“ What are you guys hiding?” Victoria’s voice is teasing. Xoyo’s cheek turned red.

Everyone laughed, however their laughter stopped when they heard the emergency bell rang.

“ Troubles.” Devon uttered and stood up immediately.

“ Jacob, Bring Xoyo to our Quarter, Luna, Jasper, Victoria, come with me.” Devon ordered and they moved immediately. While the other 2 groups of werewolves team, went out on the other side to checked what was happening.

Devon and his group went outside and saw a woman in the ground, a blonde haired woman wearing a black dress and a black cloaked , and her faced has too much make up.

“ Who are you?” Devon tried to communicate with the woman.

While Luna ,Jasper and Victoria looked around and find out if there are others.

“ I’m here to send this letter to You Mr. McKnight.” The woman answered.

“ A letter from whom?” He asked.

“ from your Late Father’s best friend. Do you remember Jimmy Alcantara? Or did you heard about that name?”

“ The principal of Bentwood college Extension.” Devon answered.

“ You are right. So here it is, I’m leaving it right here and gave us an answer after two days.” The woman said and she disappeared in the night.

Victoria looked at Devon and Devon told her to get the letter being left in the ground where the woman stand earlier and Victoria followed.

She took the letter and Gave it to Devon.

“ We all knew that they’re after the title and be known as leaders here in Bentwood, So what’s for the letters?” Victoria asked.

“ To remind us maybe.” Luna answered.

“ You guys stay here and I’ll checked on something.”  Devon said and when they nodded, he left and run into the computer lab ten meters away from the ground.

DEVON WENT Into the computer lab and locked the door, when he opened the letter, a poisonous powder floats and give him a bad reaction, Devon cough and slowly got his chest tightened, he felt like he is about to lose his breath.

In the quarter, Xoyo can’t calmed down, she could felt that Devon is in danger, however, Jacob doesn’t want her to get out.

“ Please, I’m begging you, he need us.” Xoyo begged.

“ Oh will you stopped! He will got mad at me if he find out I let you out.” Jacob said in a controlled snarl.

“ But I can feel that he is –“

“ he will be fine.” Jacob assured her.

“ how would you know that he will be fine? He is not immortal!” Xoyo burst into anger and tried to get out of Jacob’s blocked.

“ Xoyo!!”

Xoyo was able to get out of the place and run down to the ground where she cross path with a woman werewolf. Her eyes widened and slowly hid herself in the Dari side. She tiptoed and run away.

She saw how Victoria and Luna along with Jasper fought with another werewolf who seems effortless in giving them a real battle.

She sneaked out and looked around to find Devon.

“ Where could that man Be?” he asked herself.

She looked around but there’s no trace of him, she decided to looked in the rooms , she almost checked all the rooms in the school until she arrived in a computer lab, but its closed.

“ Devon! Devon!” she called.

But none answered, she tried to kicked the door open but its no used.

“ Devon? Are you there? Answer me please.” She begged and she felt a sudden rapid beating of her heart as if she’s in fear. She tried to looked for him through the glass window. Xoyo coughed when she smelled an odorous substances, she took her handkerchief from her jeans pocket and covered it in her mouth.

“ Devon!” she called again and tried to opened the door, when she couldn’t opened it , she shouted for help.

Her loud screamed made a commotion and Jacob who followed her found her in the computer lab.

“ What are you doing here?” Jacob asked.

“ Please open the door, Devon might be inside.” Xoyo said worriedly and Jacob transformed himself into a werewolf effortlessly.

“ You can count on me.”  He growled and kicked the door open.

And they saw Devon lying unconscious in the floor, Jacob was speechless and Xoyo run towards him and hugged her.

“ Devon! Wake up! Wake up!” She tried to wake him up, but there’s no response.

“ Devon!!” Jacob helped.

“ What’re we gonna do?” Xoyo asked , she felt so worried that she didn’t realized her actions.

“ I’ll call a medic.” He uttered and run away. Jacob asked for helped and later on, after that battle, Luna, Victoria , and Jasper arrived and saw what happened to Devon.

“ What happened?” Luna asked.

“ I , I just found him lying unconscious.” Xoyo stammered.

Victoria strolled her gaze and found the letter, when she looked at it and smelled the poisonous powder, Victoria felt still and she coughed until her chest tightened and her sight started to turned black and she passed out.

“ Victoria!!” Luna and Xoyo screamed in horror. Luna assisted Victoria and they waited for the medic.

IN THE Clinic, everyone was waiting outside while Victoria and Devon were treated by the doctor.

“ I don’t understand.” Xoyo uttered.

“ He was poisoned, and the scary part is ,that poisoned haven’t been introduced here in Bentwood and even in the City of France.” Luna spoke.

“ Why’d they do that?”

“ We already told you, stuff like this is normal here in Bentwood.” Luna answered and sighed.

“ Lucky you, your not prone to werewolf’s weakness.” Jasper butt in.

“ Its because I am not a werewolf.” Xoyo admitted that made Jasper surprised.

“ Your not? Then how come you’re here?” he asked.

“ It’s a long story.” Xoyo spoke.

“ Tell me, how’d you find him?” Jacob asked.

“ Instinct? I may be an ordinary lady, but still I got the senses of werewolves.” She said and smiled seriously.

“ You should never do That again, its dangerous for you.” Luna said.

“ I just can’t ignore the-“

“ Until when would this war goes? Until no one is left? Why don’t we try talk to the Bentwood college extension Principal, it might helped.” Xoyo suggested and everyone around them looked at her as if she had grown horns.

“ You are really innocent.” Jacob sighed.

While Luna and Jasper chuckled.
