LOGINNatalie’s POV
My heart slammed against my ribs for like a hundredths of time. What was he angry about? I tried to pull out of his grip, but this made him tighten it even more around my waist, pulling me closer—too close. I could feel his breath against my skin. It sent a dangerous shiver down my spine. I pulled away from him, more forcefully this time. “Let go of me, Rafael,” I hissed. “You have no right to ask!” “I have all damn fucking right, Natalie,” he hissed back. “You know that damn well.” I frowned, searching into his eyes. “Are you even listening to yourself?” He just stared into my eyes stubbornly. Fine… I would give him the answer he wanted to hear. I would tell him who he was. I forced myself to look away, scanning the crowd as if searching for someone. “He’s not here yet,” I said. Silence. Heavy. Suffocating silence. His grip tightened. I swallowed hard, forcing a stupid smile. “I’ll arrange for you to meet him someday.” Maybe if I kept this act going, he would lose interest… Then, go back to Debbie… forget everything. Mission done. That's simple. I could not let him see through me. ‘I know he’s trying to protect me as his little sister. As he always does.’ I kept telling myself. “My pleasure,” he said, his deep voice low—too calm. Too dangerous. Something flickered in his eyes. Something I didn’t understand. And didn’t want to. Relief washed over me when I saw Debbie approaching us. I immediately pulled away from him, stepping back. He let go of me this time. Debbie slipped her hand into his arm, her lips curling into a possessive smirk. “I think you should find a man for yourself, darling,” she said sweetly. “And keep your hands away from mine.” She emphasized the word mine, pretending she was joking. Rafael didn’t look at her. His gaze stayed on me as he said coldly, “Natalie has a secret boyfriend.” My heart dropped. Oh God. Debbie blinked in surprise, then quickly recovered, smiling wider. “Oh, dear Natalie… is that why you’ve been rejecting David? You already have someone?” ‘No. I have a secret husband,’ I mumbled in my head. ‘And he’s your fiancee.’ Rafael’s jaw tightened slightly. “David?” Debbie nodded enthusiastically. “My cousin. He adores her. I’ve been trying to set them up.” Her eyes slid to me, sharp and knowing. Rafael let out a low scoff. “Interesting. I thought you were still innocent, Natalie.” His eyes examined my face. His words cut deeper than they should have. Legally, he was mine. But I couldn’t claim him. And now I had to pretend I belonged to someone else. What kind of twisted joke was this? I forced a bright smile. “Well, I hope you two live happily ever after.” I winked at Debbie. “And I’ll take your advice… I’ll go find my boyfriend.” Before Rafael could respond, I turned away, unlocking my phone and pretending to make a call as I walked off. My heart was pounding wildly. I didn’t stop until I reached the other side of the yard. Chaos was running in my head. My heart pained me harder than earlier. Harder than it should be. “Hello. Are you Natalie?” A deep male voice cut through the chaos of my head. I turned. A tall blond man stood there, wearing a charming, effortless smile. “Hi… yes,” I said, slightly frowning. He extended his hand. “Daniel Rowsen. Your new neighbor.” I shook his hand. “Nice to meet you, mr. Rowsen.” I grabbed a glass of champagne from a passing waiter and drank it in one go. Bad idea. Very bad idea. “I like the neighborhood,” Daniel said warmly. “Good,” I replied, already reaching for another glass. I wasn’t thinking anymore. I just wanted to feel nothing. I wanted the pain to vanish. When Daniel offered me his untouched drink, I took it and swallowed it immediately. “What about a dance?” I said suddenly. I didn’t even think. I just… reacted. Because across the floor… Rafael was dancing with Debbie. Daniel raised a brow, surprised, then smiled. “Sure.” He placed his hand on my back, guiding me toward the dance floor. The music was slow. Too slow. My body tried to follow the music rhythm, but my head spun. “I’ll guide you,” he murmured. Too gentle. Too kind. “You’re like an angel…” I mumbled. Without realizing, I leaned my head against his chest. But it felt wrong. Cold. “Why isn’t your chest warm like his…?” I whispered. “What?” Daniel asked, confused. My gaze lifted… And collided with Rafael’s. Dark. Burning. Dangerous. “He’s so handsome,” I continued, my voice slurring. “We’ve been married for a year… and he never touched me.” I didn’t even realize what I was saying. Didn’t realize what I was revealing. Everything blurred. My body gave up. And the world went black. When I opened my eyes in the morning, my head felt like it was splitting apart. “Finally, you’re awake.” A male voice. I froze. This wasn’t my room. Panic surged through me. “Where am I?” I demanded, sitting up too fast. “In my house,” the blond man replied casually. “On my couch, to be exact.” “What the hell?!” I looked down at myself. Still dressed. Relief hit me instantly. “How did I get here?” I asked. He smirked. “On your own feet. I just helped you not collapse.” I groaned, pressing my fingers to my temples. “And your name…?” He chuckled, clearly amused. “Daniel. Again. That’s the second time I introduce myself in less than twenty-four hours.” Right… The neighbor. Fragments of last night started coming back. The party. The alcohol. The dance… My eyes widened slightly. “Did we…?” “Sleep together?” he finished, grinning. “No. I don’t sleep with married women.” My heart stopped. “W…What?” I exclaimed. My voice hitched. How did he know that? I stared at him, my mind racing. What exactly did I say last night?Hello everybody!!Thank you for reading this book. Natalie’s POVI heard the sound of Rafael's keys in the door lock with great anticipation. I took a deep breath as he opened the mansion door, and a wave of claps and joyful laughter washed over him. The room was filled with friends and family, their faces glowing with happiness. But the one thing that captured his attention, the one image that filled his heart and eyes with overwhelming joy, was me. I stood in the center of the room, holding Matt in my arms, wearing a stunning white dress—a wedding dress.Rafael’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief, and then tears of happiness welled up. His expression mirrored my own overwhelming emotions. I remembered the days when I loved him secretly, the painful nights I spent yearning for his touch. The jealousy that broke my heart at that time. Then, I thought of how much he had changed for me, how he had shed his sadistic tendencies and embraced a love that was tender and true. Our love had become a sanctuary, a safe haven where we could be
Natalie’s POVThe location led me to a rundown part of town, a place I would never have thought to visit under normal circumstances. The taxi stopped a few blocks away, and I paid the driver, telling him to wait. I couldn’t risk Debbie spotting the car.I walked the rest of the way, my senses on high alert. Every sound, every shadow made my heart race. Finally, I reached the address Debbie had sent. It was an old, abandoned warehouse, the kind of place that sent shivers down your spine just by looking at it.I wiped a tear ran down my cheek, and with taking a deep breath, I stepped inside. The air was musty, and the only light came from the gaps in the boarded-up windows. My footsteps echoed eerily as I walked further into the building. My heart bounded with anticipation, finally I would see my little boy. How did she manage to feed him? He didn’t take the formula milk.“Natalie,” Debbie’s voice rang out from the darkness, sending a chill down my spine. She stepped out from the shadow
Natalie’s POVAs the door swung open, my breath caught in my throat. But, there, standing on the doorstep, was my family—the Rowsons. Maya, Daniel, Lucas, their mother and father, and even our granny. They all looked worried, their presence both comforting and overwhelming. As I stared at them, I was shocked. It was the last person to step forward who shocked me the most. My real father. He stood there, looking healthier and stronger than I remembered, and there was a softness in his eyes that I hadn’t seen the last time I visited him. For a moment, I couldn’t move, couldn’t speak. It was as if time had stopped, and all I could do was stare at him.“Hey guys, you came!” Rafael cut the silence with a surprised tone."Nat," Maya said softly, stepping forward and wrapping her arms around me. "We're here for you."Everybody stepped inside and started hugging me except one person, my father. However, he stood there puzzled for a moment then said softly in a whisper, “Natalie,” his voice th
Natalie’s POVThe long night passed in a haze of dread and exhaustion. I couldn’t sleep; every time I closed my eyes, I saw Matt’s face, heard his cries. The darkness outside the window was a mirror to the darkness inside me, a suffocating blanket that left me gasping for breath. I paced the room, my steps slow and heavy, my mind replaying the events of the day over and over again.Rafael had been gone for hours, searching desperately for any clue that might lead us to our son. The silence of the house was oppressive, broken only by the occasional creak of the floorboards or the distant hum of traffic outside. The waiting was unbearable, each minute stretching into an eternity. I could feel the panic rising within me, threatening to consume me whole.I moved from room to room, my body restless, my mind tormented by the unknown. I went into Matt's room and sat on his bed, clutching his favorite stuffed animal, inhaling the faint scent of him still lingering in the fabric. Memories of h
Natalie’s POVSix hours had passed, and still, no news about Matt. My heart tightened with each minute that dragged by, constricting so tightly that I could barely breathe. The silence was suffocating, every second stretching into an eternity. I couldn’t imagine what Debbie might be doing to my little boy. Rafael had been updating me frequently with whatever scraps of information he could gather, but the constant fear gnawed at me, an ever-present shadow that made me feel as if I might crumble at any moment.“No news?” Tobi asked gently as she handed me a cup of coffee. Her voice was soft, but the concern in her eyes was palpable. I shook my head, unable to find any words that could convey the depth of my fear. Nothing was clear. Debbie was careful—she’d even managed to avoid the street cameras. The waiting was unbearable. My mind started to spiral, conjuring horrific images of my son’s screams, trapped in my head like an endless loop of terror. It was dark outside now, the evening s
Rafael’s POVI flipped through the pages of the file before me absent-minded. It’s the first time in all my life I feel stress and tension while thinking of someone’s reaction. I carefully reviewed the terms of the contract multiple times.“Sir, this is the last document that needs your confirmation”
Natalie’s POVI gazed around the table, sensing a palpable unease in the air. Instead of sitting next to Daniel, I found myself beside Rafael, which puzzled everyone present. As we moved from the sitting room to the dining area, Rafael took hold of my arm, guiding me to my seat before settling next t
