CHAPTER 12 – Meeting IV
Martina walked us to the elevator. She pressed the number 4 button. My mind is still trying to process that this is a mansion, not a five-star hotel. But everything looks extravagant so that fact hasn’t sunk in my mind yet.
The three of us are waiting for the elevator to reach the fourth floor. Yuji spoke out of nowhere, “Would you mind if I ask?” He turned his head in Martina’s direction.
What will he ask? He hasn’t told me anything. He just keeps quiet the whole time so I don’t know what’s exactly going on in his mind.
Martina slightly shakes his head, “What did I tell you a while ago? I am in no position to answer your questions. Just wait a little longer.”
“But—” Yuji couldn’t finish what he is about to say because the elevator suddenly opened.
“We’re here.” Martina walked out of the elevator. Yuji and I sti
CHAPTER 13 – More Than One Point Even before I had Ringo Dingo, I had been into a lot of trouble already. There are times that mom would get mad at me because of this. But so far, Ringo Dingo was the biggest thing I’ve been into. Imagine how mad the school authorities will be if they found out that their top-performing students are just paying me to do their academic stuff. If this will also come out of hand, the school’s image would be tarnished. In worst cases, the overall ranking of Adelaide Academy will definitely drop. Upon knowing those possibilities, I still did not stop running Ringo Dingo. Instead, I am working hard to make my business grow. This is the only way I know that will help me in surviving this life. Even my own parents forgot about me. I haven’t heard a thing from them since the day they left me. It’s funny how I still call them ‘parents’ even though they didn’t treat me as their child. I had no one else to run. It has always been myself a
CHAPTER 1 - Ringo DingoI was in the middle of the class when my phone suddenly vibrated. I sneaked it under my table and read the notification shown on the screen. 1 request from client Blue_Berry. Another client, eh? Business is going smoothly these days. I just put back the phone in my bag and will decide later whether to accept the request or not. By the way, I am using two cell phones. One is for personal use and the other one is for business. I am Ysabella Mia Morgan, a Grade 12 student at Adelaide Academy. It is a Catholic school and is well-known all over the country because most of the students here are born with a silver spoon. But I am not like them. I crawled my way up here. Things were light before, though. I do not have to worry about financial stuff or so. Not until my parents decided to have a divorce because they couldn’t afford to live with each other anymore. They have their own families now and I di
CHAPTER 2 – The AllianceRingo Dingo is an application that provides academic service to students. I created this app two years ago to help me with my financial expenses. How does this app work?Basically, a potential client must receive an invitation from me before he/she can download the application and use it. But I just don’t simply accept clients. They have to pass the “screening” first. The screening will test how well-off they are and if they can afford the rates we give. After that, I’ll hand them a contract containing all the rules and conditions when using my services.I am the founder of this app. As my business grows, I can’t cater all the clients anymore that’s why I have three employees under me. Namely: Eunice, Josh, and Samantha.Josh is my classmate while the other two are from different sections. We’ve been working together for a year and a half already. All three of
CHAPTER 3 – Reckoned“I am accepting your offer,” he uttered which made me smile.“Good decision. You can start by tomorrow.”“But in one condition.”Huh?!This is so sudden. I wasn’t expecting him to bring up a condition before accepting my offer. I wasn’t prepared for this. But I want to hear him out. Maybe the condition he’s asking for isn’t that hard.“What’s it?” I asked, trying to hide the shock from my face.“I don’t wanna be just your employee. I want to co-run the business with you.”“Are you kidding me?!” Never in my wildest thoughts, I expected the condition to be like this. What the hell is wrong with him?!“I want to earn as much you’re earning,” he calmly said, as if it’s a simple thing.I was dumbfounded
CHAPTER 4 – Morning StarSaturday. Today marks the first day of Yuji as my business partner. I had been tired for the whole week and thinking about our conversation yesterday makes my head ached. Anyway, it already happened and nothing will change anymore. I just have to deal with it.It’s 10 AM in the morning when I went out of the house. I am going to the nearest mall for grocery shopping. Upon arriving, I opened the notes on my phone and look for the list of the things I must buy.I am planning to have a simple broccoli pasta salad for lunch. I got a rotini pasta, broccoli, tomato paste, and other condiments. I also look for other food and things on my list. Since I am running out of stock of detergent powder, I got some too. After I pay my grocery, I immediately went out of the supermarket. I stopped by one of my favorite shops and look for some art materials. I needed new paintbrushes since the ones
CHAPTER 5 - Unwanted Ever since Samantha told me that thing, I couldn’t help to doubt Yuji. Were those things real? Did he really bully others for money? I don’t know. I don’t have the guts to ask him. I grew even more nervous thinking that this might affect my business. Monday. We are having a History class early this morning. Ugh. It makes me feel so sleepy. Just who the heck decided to put History in the first period?! They should have known that students aren't interested in this kind of stuff first thing in the morning. Much better if we would start the class in some exciting subjects instead. Anyway, I don't have any choice but to attend this. Before the professor ended the class, he gave us a task, “Find a pair and work for the 3rd task in your workbook. You will present it by the next meeting.” Here comes another activity by pair. I am always having a hard time wh
CHAPTER 6 - La Resistencia Wearing a black hoodie and pants, there was Yuji standing exactly outside my apartment. Unknowingly, I rushed downstairs as soon as I saw him outside. “What do you want to tell me?” I asked as soon as I got closer to him. “Samantha confronted me,” he uttered directly looking at my eyes. I tried to break from his gaze, “Samantha? What did she tell you?” Don’t tell me… Seconds have passed yet he still isn’t answering my question. I having anxiety panics because of this deafening silence. I cleared my throat, “What did Samantha tell you?” “It wasn’t true.” “What?” “I never extorted money from others.” For a short while, I felt grateful. I was relieved. Though Yuji wasn’t really the approachable type of person, I still couldn’t see him behaving ruthlessly. But, what if he was lying? What if he’s telling me this just so I wouldn’
CHAPTER 7 - I Will Live To live or die? That was the meaning of Vivir o Morir written in the invitation sent to us. I knew from the start that something is off with that invitation as well as the man who gave it to us. They knew our name and even our contact information. They were able to send us a text message. But what I’m afraid of is the fact that they might also know Ringo Dingo. Seriously, who is behind this La Resistencia? I tried searching them on the web with the hope of finding information but I see nothing. There were no articles and photos related to them. It’s as if they aren’t existing in the first place. Because of what happened yesterday, looks like we don’t have a choice but to attend this welcoming ceremony thingy. We still have three days to decide. I’ll talk with Yuji once again. But every time I remember the text message sent to Yuji yesterday, I couldn’t help to get goosebumps.
