Since I didn’t need that much sleep, I took the time to look over my mate while gently touching her body. I was happy to see her bruises fading while she slept, but I was not happy to feel the bones protruding from her hips and shoulders, or that I could literally count her ribs as I ran m

VivienneWhy the fuck did I agree to bring Arman to the overlook? This is a place for lovers. I don’t know the first fucking thing about being a lover. I know sex and I know fucking. That’s it.“I’d like to get to know you better while we have some time, Vivienne,” he says.My stomach twists. I just know there will be something that makes him realize this is all a huge mistake. As soon as he does, he’ll be gone and I’ll be left reeling in the aftermath of what could have been if I hadn’t been born into the life I was.“What do you want to know?”Maybe it’s better if I rip off the band-aid now. The longer I spend time with this man, the more my heart and my wolf will fall for him. This way, I’ll be able to recover more quickly.“Tell me about your work,” he says.I shrug. I’m not sure how to explain it to someone who has lived a life of safety and security.“There are women who live on the street, not because they want to, but because men in power make sure that they can’t leave.”“How

ArmanMy back was aching when Vivienne finally woke up this morning. I had no idea how exhausted my mate was, but you’ll never hear me complain about getting to hold her while she sleeps peacefully in my arms.Since I didn’t need that much sleep, I took the time to look over my mate while gently touching her body. I was happy to see her bruises fading while she slept, but I was not happy to feel the bones protruding from her hips and shoulders, or that I could literally count her ribs as I ran my fingers down her side. My mate doesn’t eat enough. I’m not sure if that’s from years of living on the street, or if it’s the work she’s doing now, but when I saw her devouring her breakfast, I realized I didn’t feed her nearly enough yesterday for lunch.Which is why I gave her the rest of my food. Honestly, having missed dinner, I would have said I was starving under normal circumstances, but since it seems that my mate is literally starving, I kept my mouth shut. I get regular meals. My mate

  • The Pack's Rogue   Chapter 10: Taken Care Of

VivienneI wake slowly, feeling warm and safe. Sigrid is purring in my head and I feel drunk.I frown. When’s the last time I felt warm and safe?I force my eyes to open, feeling disoriented when I’m not in a bed. Where the hell am I?I lift my head and I’m met with startling blue eyes watching me.“How did you sleep?” Arman asks. His voice is a deep, soft, rumbling murmur. When Sigrid begins purring in my head for real, I realize it was Kian who was purring before, helping me to sleep.“I must have slept really well. I feel sleep drunk. What time is it?”“It’s eight o’clock.”“Holy shit! I slept six hours?”I’m shocked. I NEVER sleep that long.Arman raises an eyebrow. “No, you slept eighteen hours, Vivienne. It’s eight o’clock in the morning. You slept all afternoon and night.”“Oh my goddess, I’m so sorry!” I say, sitting up quickly. I’d get off his lap, but his arms are like steel around my body, holding me still.“What are you sorry for?” he asks, frowning.“You came to see me and

ArmanBefore Alpha Yorick came to get Gamma Lila, I knew Stellan was dead. Cyra told me he was. As soon as Yorick took Lila to help her mate pull back from his angry haze, I turn to Cyra.“I need to go.”“What? Why, Arman?” Sadique asks.I look around and realize no one except Alpha Quirin knows about me being mated to Vivienne.I pull my sister aside, thankful that Cyra is too busy listening to what’s going on outside to pay attention to me.“Listen to me, Sadique. I need you to keep this a secret.”“What?” she asks, frowning at me.I glance at my parents. I’m not sure how my mother will react to me being mated to Vivienne, but I know my father will have very strong, very negative opinions about it. I’ll deal with that when the time comes, but for now, I need my sister to keep quiet.“I found my mate at the Academy graduation, too,” I say.“Arman!” she says loudly. I clap my hand over her mouth before she can cause too noise.“Listen to me,” I hiss. She frowns, but nods.“Do you know

  • The Pack's Rogue   Chapter 8: Returning Home

VivienneAfter Beta Squad removed Holly and Randy’s bodies and the council sent a team to collect the four individuals who tried to attack them, we were contacted by Hijack. He said that Hacker was down, and he was replacing him to assist Alpha Squad.“Hijack’s out, we don’t have a lead on these missing women, and no one wants to talk to you right now, Vivienne. Let’s go home and rest up, get some real food, and let Luna Kennedy look us over. Your bruise still hasn’t healed and considering you met your mate, that’s not a good sign,” Mick says.I want to argue with him, but I know he’s right.‘He is. I’m weak. A day or two of rest and good food will make a huge difference,’ Sigrid says.‘Are you okay, Sigrid? Do I need to be worried?’Honestly, I’m so used to having bruises that it doesn’t immediately occur to me that Sigrid isn’t healing me.‘I could use a break.’That’s all I need to hear. My wolf doesn’t give up any more than I do.“You’re right, Mick. Let’s go in for a couple of day

  • The Pack's Rogue   Chapter 7: Dual Priorities

HijackI was talking to Mick about the dead she-wolf and her pup, when I got the call from Hacker that Stellan has been found and is heading to Alphas Yorick and Cyra’s pack lands.I split my screen so I can continue to monitor Beta Squad as they go in to get the dead she-wolf and her pup. It’s unlikely, but perhaps Luna Yara can find something to tell us who killed them. If so, we’ll hunt them down until we catch them.“Tracker, I’m going to need you as backup monitoring Beta Squad,” I say, pulling up the security system in Yorick and Cyra’s pack and hacking in to it.“On it,” she says. With Hacker working with Alpha Squad, I have been working with Vivienne and her team, and, therefore, Beta Squad, acting as backup to Alpha Squad. Tracker has been splitting her time between tracking Stellan and helping me locate the dead she-wolf and her pup. I contacted Councilman Edward to let him know what Vivienne and her team found and got approval to send Beta Squad in to get their bodies. Now t
