When I arrived at the hospital, I saw Butler Gavin standing by the entrance of the private ward section, his posture stiff and his eyes tired. He looked as though he hadn’t slept all night.

“Gavin,” I called, walking quickly toward him. “What happened?”

The old butler looked at me for a long moment, then sighed deeply. “Mr. Grant will explain better, sir,” he said quietly. “He’s inside.”

I frowned. “He’s… inside? What do you mean? Is he sick? what are the doctors saying about his condition?”

Gavin avoided my eyes. “You should see for yourself, sir.”

Without saying another word, he turned and began walking down the hall. I followed, my mind racing as I tried to make sense of what he’d said. Since the day I met my maternal grandfather, Isaac Grant, I’d never once heard he was ill. He was always strong, proud, and full of energy. The man had a commanding presence that could fill any room. So what on earth was going on now?
