ZARYA ROGOV

They say after every storm, there is peace.

But for me? There was no peace.

One obstacle after another.

No matter how hard I tried to crawl out of the darkness, bad fate kept pulling me down.

They also say, a person brings bad on himself through his own evil actions.

I wondered what evil I did other than simply existing.

I cracked my knuckles and stretched. My gaze fixated on the rough sketch I was working on for Natasha's birthday, which was now in two days.

I wasn't sure if I had earned the break for her, but after everything I went through, I wouldn't bother asking anyone again and would give her the days off myself.

I stood up from the stool and walked towards the mirror. My dull gaze focused on the bruises that covered my neck skin. I sighed and ran a hand down my face.

What should I do?

How do I tell Caesar that Michael was a traitor? How do I send him the material from the red file that I saved on my phone?

"Tsk,"

Suddenly, a knock on the door pulled me out of m

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 54

ZARYA ROGOV The things he demands from me, I obviously go against them.Obeying him meant bowing down to Satan.I stared at my dress in the mirror. The dress was deep wine-red in color. It had a square neckline and thick shoulder straps, giving it an elegant yet structured look. The bodice was fitted, while the skirt flared out into a voluminous A-line silhouette. The fabric was velvet, which enhanced the dress's color.I let my hair down and put on a little makeup because I wasn't so enthusiastic about this event. His grand celebration could be a lot worse than my expectations, and I just knew I wasn't ready for whatever hell he was about to unleash on me.I took a deep breath, but my breath got stuck midway when he stepped into the room without knocking. I instinctively straightened up and just pretended to do something with my hair. Sergei slowly stepped into the room and closed the door behind him, all the while staring at me from head to toe. His hazel eyes traced my full form

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 53

ZARYA ROGOV There was no redemption for the devil because he doesn't want to be redeemed. There was only hell that awaited him.Sergei pinned me against the mattress; his grip wasn't tender, it was like an iron that almost resembled my prison. His gaze wasn't cold; it was filled with restrained rage, restrained with something much more.I couldn't control the shivers that ran up my body, but I refused to look away from him, refused to give in. He was so close that I could feel the heat of anger in him. I wondered what sin I had committed to make him so wrathful? It felt like I had wounded him just like he wounded me, like we were equally responsible for each other's destruction."Why don't you remember anything?" He asked, his jaw tightly clenched as he hit his fist beside my head right against the mattress in pure frustration. I flinched and tightly shut my eyes. I felt like I couldn't breathe. "Open your eyes and look at me." He commanded while grabbing my jaw. My fingers dug in

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 52

SERGEI MOROZOVWhen sins are enough to make you climb the peak of hell, it hardly feels possible to redeem; it hardly feels human. No way could lead you back, but several ways could lead you further into the chaos. The Rogovs were on the verge of crumbling. She was on the verge of her sanity.I won...but there was no sense of achievement. No victory ever made me happy because I was too fixated on the goal of ruining the Rogovs. I thought maybe after that I would feel the great satisfaction of achievement.I never felt it."There is no serious damage except that some of our men got injured in the fight," Bogdan informed. I nodded, staring at the injured men getting treated. None of them was able to hold on to Rafail, and it was expected. He was impossible to catch. But the fact that he came already meant that I had his leash. Even if I couldn't get to him, holding him back was enough to ruin the Rogovs. I ran a hand through my hair and looked up at the clear black sky. "Why did he spe

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 51

ZARYA ROGOV My back slammed against the wall, and a painful yelp escaped my lips. His rough hand tightened around my neck, cutting off my air supply, but not enough to kill me. Tears burned the back of my eyes, but my glare didn't waver.I had nothing to fear. He took it all, he took everything from me. Now, it was time I took his."Don't play with fire, Zarya. You already know the outcome." He growled against my face. "You shouldn't have killed her." I rasped, glaring up at him with my teary eyes."You shouldn't have betrayed me." He whispered against my lips, his hot, rugged breath against my skin sent a shiver down my spine."I never gave you my loyalty." I retorted, trying to push him away, but he was like an immobile wall."I never expected your loyalty, and either way, she was going to die.""Why don't you kill me already? What more are you waiting for? Haven't you done enough?" I asked, I couldn't hide the helplessness in my tone. I couldn't stop the tears from kissing my che

NATASHA KOZLOVI wanted to do this for Zarya. She was the only one who had ever shown me genuine kindness, and I wanted to repay her. I didn't think of the consequences of my actions. And I definitely wasn't looking forward to getting caught. I knew I was dead the moment they grabbed me.My life wasn't so great to look back at, and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next. My life was worthless, but that didn't mean I wasn't scared of death. And surprisingly, I wasn't dead. The Pakhan didn't kill me.I was knocked unconscious by the man behind me. I stared down at my drenched clothes and then at the jacket beside me that had bursted blood bags in it. They showed Zarya my death and left her traumatized.Maybe I knew the reason behind Pakhan's wicked actions. He wanted to sabotage Zarya thoroughly. Wreck her to the point she loses the concept of her very existence. He wanted her to drown in the guilt for the rest of her lifetime. He wanted her weak, and I guess he succeeded because even

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 49

ZARYA ROGOV "Natasha!" My wide eyes zeroed in on her crying face, and I felt like someone had stabbed me in the guts. I...I promised to keep her safe, but now as she stood here in front of me, I felt utterly helpless. What have I done?I completely overlooked the fact that my selfish act could make her lose her life.I felt Sergei slowly walking up behind me. His hands stuffed in his pants pocket and his gait powerful with an edge of unwavering control. His shadow engulfed me, and his warm breath near my ear made me shiver."You cannot win from me, wifey." He whispered in my ear.I continued to stare at Natasha with tear-filled eyes, yet my face remained expressionless. The thing I feared the most was happening before my eyes. Once again, fate has failed me. I must lose myself before I would let them do anything to her.Natasha sniffed and looked at me."I i-informed your brother." She stuttered, tears streaming down her face, and her petite body wouldn't stop trembling. My lips trem
