"Was he that funny?" He took off his coat, throwing it on the couch so roughly that it had me flinching. I immediately stood up from the dressing chair and turned to look at him.

A zap of shiver ran down my spine when I found him breathing heavily as if about to lose control. He ran a hand through his hair, messing the perfect slickness into rogue threads.

"Huh?" That was all I could manage to utter as I stared at him, shocked.

"You..." He slowly tilted his head to look at me. "You never even smile at me." His voice dangerously dropped, making me unconsciously take a step back.

"We were j-just talking." I tried to rationalize.

"Talking? Only talking? Or talking like you guys have known each other for years." He growled, striding up to me and banging the dressing table so aggressively that the thick oak tree carved furniture rattled like it was made of chipboard.

I flinched, unconsciously raising my arms in front of my face. His hot, ragged breath burned me as he towered over me. Tears of fear pricked my eyes, and I trembled. Just as I tried to move away, he firmly grabbed my arm and roughly pulled me back in front of him.

"I'm asking you something." He rasped and grabbed my jaw, forcing my face up so that I could look at him. He was looming over me like death. The second I matched his gaze, I felt myself melting away in sheer fear.

He would consume me.

"Was. he. that. funny?" He asked dangerously slowly, and I immediately shook my head, my eyes filled with unshed tears.

"Then why were you laughing?" He growled like an animal, intensifying my trembling. I couldn't even form proper words. He was executing wrath so powerful, I felt like I was burning in hell.

"I-I just uh w-we had common in-interest, that's w-why...maybe." I didn't know what I was blurting out, my teary eyes too focused on his gaze, too far gone in hell to look away.

"I guess the shared interests were so funny." His rugged tone held sarcasm. He shook my head, pulling me closer to himself through his grip on my jaw.

"W-What's so wrong w-with it?" I asked, wanting to know why he was so triggered when all I did was laugh with a man, that too who was known to be a lot more human in society than him and I knew I just dug my grave by asking that.

"You are not allowed to talk to any man like that.d" His tone was threatening, leaving no room for argument.

"W-Why not?"

"Because you are my wife, the Pakhan's bride, and you will learn to respect that place." His voice held possessiveness.

"This m-marriage was forced, yo-you sinner." His grip painfully tightened on my jaw, making me whimper.

"Call me a sinner all you want, but don't forget, I would sin a thousand times more if that means keeping you mine."

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 96: THE END

ZARYA MOROZOV*SIX YEARS LATER*The cold breeze caressed my body like a silent greeting from my sister. My eyes traced the tall building standing before me in all its glory. The building I designed. I rose in this field with a lot of hard work. After graduation, I did multiple internships and worked as a junior before finally securing a big project. The dream I always imagined, the dream I worked hard for, stood before me.And of course, Sergei had always been my pillar to lean against if I ever got too tired. The way he has encouraged me was one of the reasons I stood here. I did not lack money; he had enough to buy me luxury all his life. This was for myself, for my identity and my dream. The building looked like the only power that could crumble it was God, and nothing else."Mrs Morozov, your work is spectacular." Engineer Artur came to stand beside me.I smiled and shook my head."If it wasn't for you, my design would have never come to life." I indirectly praised him."Are you co

ZARYA MOROZOV Anastasia...do you see?We are together. Are you too happy with Matvey and your child?Rest assured, I found the orphanage you left behind, and I have started to run it again.Soon, I will be an architect, and I will raise walls high enough to fulfill your dream within those four walls. It will give the poor shelter and food.Rest assured, sister. I hope you are watching over us from heaven.Keep watching over me, and I will make you proud."Mommy, can I crack the eggs in the bowl?" Anastasia asked cutely. Finally, she was able to form sentences and pronounce correctly. All thanks to her elder brother Lev. He sat with her every night and read her stories. He was just a child, but very mature for his age. He would be a fine young man in the future. "Go on, take your brother's help."Lev moved beside her, and both of them cracked eggs in the bowl. At first, they used to create so much mess, but now they have learned. They loved baking with me so much that we did it eve

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 94

ZARYA MOROZOV The scent of roses made my heart beat faster. How could I not feel this nervousness in the pit of my stomach after knowing it was our wedding night? It surely wasn't the first, but it felt like it was.Nadia has been very helpful in taking care of Anastasia and Lev. Before retiring to her room, she told me she had put them to sleep and even asked me if I needed anything.Ever since she left, I had been pacing in my now shared bedroom with Sergei. I haven't changed out of my wedding gown yet because I was waiting for him.He had an urgent matter to deal with and told me to wait just a little before sending everyone off.I wondered if everything was alright. He left pretty tense. Just as I turned around, the door opened, and Sergei stepped in."Sergei." I walked over to him and observed his expressions keenly. He looked at me and smiled, but I couldn't help but see the facade he was putting on.Ever since things had gotten well between us, he had been my armour, my sword

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 93

ZARYA MOROZOV *A month later*One of the most anticipated days of my life was finally here. I was already his wife, but this event allowed me to walk down the aisle as his bride. With my hair set in loose curls, the beauticians applied makeup to my face, and Natasha tied my wedding dress from behind, which I had bought from her boutique. It was a long, floral dress, wrapped around my upper body, with a wide flow at the hem.Natasha and Nadia helped me get up from my chair and looked at me from head to toe with wide eyes before both of them clapped together in excitement. Both of them were dressed beautifully for the event.I chuckled at their reaction.Natasha took a deep breath as if controlling her tears and sent the beauticians off before turning towards me. She grabbed my hands in hers and smiled up at me with teary eyes."May you live happily forever." She said, and I smiled, pulling her into a hug."Man, I feel so left out," Nadia complained. We chuckled and pulled her into a

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 92

ZARYA MOROZOV I caressed the red velvet wrapped around my figure and looked up at myself in the mirror. I was going out on a date with Sergei, wearing the dress he had bought for me. It was a long red velvet dress that hugged my figure perfectly. It was elegant and beautiful, and made me stand out. I had a minimalist set of diamonds around my neck that went perfectly with my dress. I also let my hair down, letting it rest on my bare shoulders, and put on a little makeup to enhance my features. This was the first time I was genuinely happy while getting dressed. With no burden on my shoulders, with no leash on my neck, but with my own choice.I grabbed my coat and bag and looked at myself in the mirror once again. A small smile made its way on my lips as I gave myself a thumbs up and walked out of the room, only to find my whole family standing in the hallway, excitedly gesturing towards the stairs that led me downstairs towards the hall where Sergei was waiting.Alisa, Nadia, Lev, a

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 91

ZARYA MOROZOV After taking my first class, I was moving towards the next one. As I was passing through the corridor with Rafail and two other bodyguards following me at a distance, I felt the students looking our way. At this point, I was used to their stares, but this time they were persistent, and then I heard some of them whispering among each other about Sergei, which had me slowing down."Did you see the Pakhan?" One of the guys asked his friends."Yes, oh my god, he is so handsome." One of the young girls squealed like his fan girl."Chill out, he'll peel your skin off." One of the other guys joked. No, please, he wouldn't do that, or would he?The girl sighed. "Sadly, he has a wife; I would have looked for my chance." The guys snickered at her statement. The more I walked, the more I heard whispers about him. Some were terrified and had shivers because of his aura, but it felt like he gained more fans. Kids these days enjoy danger.I turned to look at Rafail, and he just s
