"Was he that funny?" He took off his coat, throwing it on the couch so roughly that it had me flinching. I immediately stood up from the dressing chair and turned to look at him.

A zap of shiver ran down my spine when I found him breathing heavily as if about to lose control. He ran a hand through his hair, messing the perfect slickness into rogue threads.

"Huh?" That was all I could manage to utter as I stared at him, shocked.

"You..." He slowly tilted his head to look at me. "You never even smile at me." His voice dangerously dropped, making me unconsciously take a step back.

"We were j-just talking." I tried to rationalize.

"Talking? Only talking? Or talking like you guys have known each other for years." He growled, striding up to me and banging the dressing table so aggressively that the thick oak tree carved furniture rattled like it was made of chipboard.

I flinched, unconsciously raising my arms in front of my face. His hot, ragged breath burned me as he towered over me. Tears of fear pricked my eyes, and I trembled. Just as I tried to move away, he firmly grabbed my arm and roughly pulled me back in front of him.

"I'm asking you something." He rasped and grabbed my jaw, forcing my face up so that I could look at him. He was looming over me like death. The second I matched his gaze, I felt myself melting away in sheer fear.

He would consume me.

"Was. he. that. funny?" He asked dangerously slowly, and I immediately shook my head, my eyes filled with unshed tears.

"Then why were you laughing?" He growled like an animal, intensifying my trembling. I couldn't even form proper words. He was executing wrath so powerful, I felt like I was burning in hell.

"I-I just uh w-we had common in-interest, that's w-why...maybe." I didn't know what I was blurting out, my teary eyes too focused on his gaze, too far gone in hell to look away.

"I guess the shared interests were so funny." His rugged tone held sarcasm. He shook my head, pulling me closer to himself through his grip on my jaw.

"W-What's so wrong w-with it?" I asked, wanting to know why he was so triggered when all I did was laugh with a man, that too who was known to be a lot more human in society than him and I knew I just dug my grave by asking that.

"You are not allowed to talk to any man like that.d" His tone was threatening, leaving no room for argument.

"W-Why not?"

"Because you are my wife, the Pakhan's bride, and you will learn to respect that place." His voice held possessiveness.

"This m-marriage was forced, yo-you sinner." His grip painfully tightened on my jaw, making me whimper.

"Call me a sinner all you want, but don't forget, I would sin a thousand times more if that means keeping you mine."

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 39

ZARYA ROGOV I tossed and turned on the bed. Sleep was far away, and my thoughts, well, they were scattered everywhere.I didn't see him the whole day.He had been extremely busy ever since the last fire incident.I stared up at the ceiling. I needed to get a week off for Natasha, and for that I had to get his permission. What would I say to him?A knock at my door had my eyes snapping towards it. I looked at the clock. It was 2 in the morning. Who could be here this late? Could it be him? My heart beat suddenly fastened as I slowly removed the blanket and stood up.Another knock resonated in the calm silence, almost making me flinch."Who?" I asked as I grabbed the knob."It's me, Bogdan."Bogdan? I frowned. What was he doing here at this time? I unlocked the door and opened it, only to be greeted by his huge frame looming near my door with a bag in his hand and a stand stuck between his arms."The supplies you asked for." He said, and I gave him a nod before stepping aside so he co

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 38

ZARYA ROGOV When I woke up, the morning light was streaming through the curtains and enlightening the room. I forced myself to sit up, my whole body aching in pain. I looked at my side and found the bed empty. What happened? I massaged my temples. The past flashed in front of my eyes, and after that, I don't remember anything. Did I faint? I definitely went unconscious, but what was that? The memories I saw. Right after noticing the necklace around his neck, my memories of that time came rushing back. The scar he kissed...I got it because of him?Just what..."Agh!" I gripped my head. This was a lot to process. Did he wear that necklace on purpose? Did he kiss my scar on purpose to remind me of the past? So he knew I didn't remember anything.I looked around the room, found my shredded clothes in the bin, and the rest on the couch. I took a deep breath and removed the blanket from my body. The cold air hits the warmth of my skin, making me shiver. My heart beat fastened as I star

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 37 (18+)

ZARYA ROGOV I found myself moaning and writhing under the experience of his skillful fingers that worked on me like an artist works on his art. His thick and long fingers caressed my most intimate parts. The places even I never touched that way.He touched me as if staking his claim. He touched me like I was his favorite addiction. His one and only obsession. His rightful possession.I couldn't control the sounds that escaped my lips. I was no longer in my senses, my mind was in a haze, and the only thing I could focus on was him.I lay completely bare under him. Not a single piece of cloth hid me from him. Not a single gap between our bodies. His warmth mingled with mine. His fingers buried deep in me, caressing the barrier he was preparing for himself to break through until nothing was stopping him from completely claiming me. My hands that were no longer captured were desperately holding onto the sheets. My eyes welled up with tears, perhaps because this was too overwhelming an

ZARYA ROGOV Dusha Moya? There was no way he called me that. He was high on something. I needed to get away."N-No, I don't think so." I quickly shook my head, putting my hands on his chest to maintain an appropriate distance, but he remained unmoving. In fact, he pushed even closer until he was completely pressed against me. My hands were the only barrier that prevented our chests from touching. My breath became uneven as I hesitantly glanced up at him, only to find his eyes glazed with such an intense desire, it almost made my knees buckle."You don't think so?" He asked, his voice lacking his usual authority. He sounded aroused, almost like masculine seduction. I was definitely not falling for this.I wouldn't like to sleep with someone who doesn't value me. I know he only wanted my body, but why did he look so desperate, as if he wasn't already sleeping around?Men!I immediately shook my head."Who cares," he growled and slammed his lips roughly against mine, already taking my b

SERGEI MOROZOV I'm used to it.The chaos around me.The betrayal. The hatred.I live on it, thrive on it.Peace felt too foreign, too unrealistic.I exhaled the smoke, my eyes fixated on the sketches before me. Yesterday, my men set the Rogov's mansion on fire with Michael’s help, and they found these sketches from her room. I ordered them to grab anything useful they noticed in her room, and according to them, these sketches were the only useful thing in there.I took a puff of my cigar and walked up to one of the sketches. It was a building sketch with details written in the corner. "Architect." It came out on its own. This was new. I never knew she was into it.I thought I knew almost everything about her, but turns out I was wrong. Wrong? I don't like that word. I need to know everything about her. Every little thing. From her shoe size to the mere thoughts that run in her mind all the time. I wanna know what she likes and dislikes to the point I become her mirror. This wa

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 34

ZARYA ROGOV "What's going on here?" I abruptly turned around to look at him. A shiver ran down my spine at his sudden interruption. Sergei stood tall and commanding. His sleeves rolled up, his shirt was unbuttoned, showing much of his muscular chest, and his coat, which was always on his shoulders, was resting on his arm.His eyes were on her before they moved onto me. He looked at me from head to toe and began to walk towards us.The closer he got, the faster my heartbeat accelerated.I wasn't ready to face him either. He paused near us. I could feel his gaze burning right through my skull, but I acted oblivious to that intensity. "Sergei, honey." Katherine threw herself on him and grabbed his arm, deliberately rubbing her cleavage against his arm. My lips slightly parted as I gawked at the scene before me. What the hell. Why was everyone a whore for him? What was so good about him?I almost rolled my eyes and looked away from them."Step away, Katherine," Sergei commanded, his t
