"Was he that funny?" He took off his coat, throwing it on the couch so roughly that it had me flinching. I immediately stood up from the dressing chair and turned to look at him.
A zap of shiver ran down my spine when I found him breathing heavily as if about to lose control. He ran a hand through his hair, messing the perfect slickness into rogue threads.
"Huh?" That was all I could manage to utter as I stared at him, shocked.
"You..." He slowly tilted his head to look at me. "You never even smile at me." His voice dangerously dropped, making me unconsciously take a step back.
"We were j-just talking." I tried to rationalize.
"Talking? Only talking? Or talking like you guys have known each other for years." He growled, striding up to me and banging the dressing table so aggressively that the thick oak tree carved furniture rattled like it was made of chipboard.
I flinched, unconsciously raising my arms in front of my face. His hot, ragged breath burned me as he towered over me. Tears of fear pricked my eyes, and I trembled. Just as I tried to move away, he firmly grabbed my arm and roughly pulled me back in front of him.
"I'm asking you something." He rasped and grabbed my jaw, forcing my face up so that I could look at him. He was looming over me like death. The second I matched his gaze, I felt myself melting away in sheer fear.
He would consume me.
"Was. he. that. funny?" He asked dangerously slowly, and I immediately shook my head, my eyes filled with unshed tears.
"Then why were you laughing?" He growled like an animal, intensifying my trembling. I couldn't even form proper words. He was executing wrath so powerful, I felt like I was burning in hell.
"I-I just uh w-we had common in-interest, that's w-why...maybe." I didn't know what I was blurting out, my teary eyes too focused on his gaze, too far gone in hell to look away.
"I guess the shared interests were so funny." His rugged tone held sarcasm. He shook my head, pulling me closer to himself through his grip on my jaw.
"W-What's so wrong w-with it?" I asked, wanting to know why he was so triggered when all I did was laugh with a man, that too who was known to be a lot more human in society than him and I knew I just dug my grave by asking that.
"You are not allowed to talk to any man like that.d" His tone was threatening, leaving no room for argument.
"W-Why not?"
"Because you are my wife, the Pakhan's bride, and you will learn to respect that place." His voice held possessiveness.
"This m-marriage was forced, yo-you sinner." His grip painfully tightened on my jaw, making me whimper.
"Call me a sinner all you want, but don't forget, I would sin a thousand times more if that means keeping you mine."
ZARYA ROGOVThere is a limit to everything, a limit to happiness and a limit to sadness. In our case, the latter has exceeded limits. We have lived with it for so long that it has become a part of us.What cure did we have for this curse? Except love.A moan of contentment left my lips when I felt my aching body sinking into the softness of the mattress beneath me. My palm pressed into the smoothness of the mattress as I stretched and slowly opened my eyes. The afternoon light filtered through the window and scattered onto the mattress, and that was when my gaze landed on the part of my soul. My eyes slowly widened, and I sat upright, staring at the small body sleeping beside me."A-Anastasia." My voice cracked, and my eyes welled up with tears. Was I dreaming? How did she end up here? I raised my hands to scoop her up in my arms and noticed that my wrists were bandaged. They must have treated it after I fell asleep, more like I went unconscious. When we arrived at the mansion, I was
ZARYA ROGOVSome die when they want to live the most. Some die even when they are already dead.In the end, no matter where we stand in life, we die. So, why do we worry so much about life when we are not even sure if we'll live to see the sun rise again? The sharp pain in my head was like I had been struck in the head once again. The moment I opened my eyes, I couldn't see just yet. My blurry sight tried to take in my surroundings, but I was still not in the present. I was still drowned in the darkness, and as I sat there, I remembered what had led me there, and my heartbeat jolted me upright. I looked around, my breath uneven.A frown made its way on my face when I found myself in a small church. A church? What was I doing here? I started to get up while looking around, but found myself chained to the chair once again. The chain was wrapped around my waist and went backwards to my wrists, binding them. What? My eyes slowly widened, not because I was chained but because I had a whi
ZARYA ROGOV I was half-conscious and tied to a rusty chair. I did not know where I was, but I knew I shouldn't have been here. Warm blood trickled down my forehead where I had been hit earlier by the back of the clown's gun. I was protesting and cursing him, and that's all he could come up with to silence me.Well, it did silence me because I lost half of my consciousness I weakly tried to unbind my hands that were tied to the back of the chair with rough ropes. I heard footsteps around me. The clown was giving orders to his weaklings.I shook my head to bring myself back to my senses. I raised my head and looked around. It was a building, an abandoned building with dust and broken rocks everywhere. By the way, this specific floor had lightning; it seemed like this was planned beforehand. I took a deep breath and turned my head to the left. Ren was talking to one of his men, telling them to prepare for something, but when he noticed me glaring at him, he dismissed his man and walk
ZARYA ROGOVThe restaurant was a place for a nice, cozy date, but I was very much focused on getting done with this forced union. I looked up at him sitting across from me at the table. He was already waiting for me to catch his eye, and when I did, he passed me an eye smile, which was probably fake. My jaw tightened as I gave him a poker look. "You have changed; you were different back then." He pointed out. Of course, back then, I wasn't aware of your games, and you weren't a threat to my peace. I didn't say anything, but my silence was not enough to wave off that creepy smile on his face. "You don't speak much either." He said, his eyes flicking down to my lips before meeting my gaze, a knowing look in his eyes. He knew what he was doing."I was forced to come on this date with you; if Caesar didn't have my daughter, I would have never come," I said, my jaw tightened. He raised a perfect brow at me and leaned forward with his elbows on the table. "You do speak a lot." My eyes sli
SERGEI MOROZOV I am a sinner, and maybe my sins hold me back from ever becoming good.I simply either lack the potential of doing good, or I wasn't nurtured right. I was nurtured to rule over the throne of evil. My position was the throne of the devil, and I sat on it like one.If only those feelings for a single woman didn't run in my veins like a curse, I would have been at peace playing the role of the devil."Pakhan...Pakhan." A manly, gruff voice that irritated me to my marrow rang in my ears, bringing me back to reality. I looked up and realized that I had lost myself in the tangles of my woman right between a very important meeting. I straightened up and leaned against the high-back black leather chair. A long table with high authority roles and military officials sat in front of me. The walls were tainted black like the hearts of the men in this hall. My men surrounded every corner, standing behind the officials like an angel of death."You seemed lost." I looked right, at
ZARYA ROGOV "Where is my daughter?" I shouted, grabbing Caesar by his collar as pure anger surged through my very being. My jaw clenched so tight I thought my teeth might shatter. Caesar raised his hands in defeat, but I knew he was just mocking me. "Don't worry, she's safe." He said coolly while my heart was burning. I couldn't even imagine her separation from me. I don't even know where she was and who was looking after her, or whether they were even looking after her at all.At this point, she was better off with Sergei."Give me my daughter back," I growled at his face, and he raised his brows at me in amusement. "You got some real fire in there." He mocked me. I dropped my right hand and turned it into a fist, driving that fist right in his face with a strength I didn't know I had in me. His face turned to the left as he let out a groan."You sure are showing your real fucking face." I rasped. He slowly turned to look at me, his glare intense as he grabbed my wrist and pulled m
