"Was he that funny?" He took off his coat, throwing it on the couch so roughly that it had me flinching. I immediately stood up from the dressing chair and turned to look at him.

A zap of shiver ran down my spine when I found him breathing heavily as if about to lose control. He ran a hand through his hair, messing the perfect slickness into rogue threads.

"Huh?" That was all I could manage to utter as I stared at him, shocked.

"You..." He slowly tilted his head to look at me. "You never even smile at me." His voice dangerously dropped, making me unconsciously take a step back.

"We were j-just talking." I tried to rationalize.

"Talking? Only talking? Or talking like you guys have known each other for years." He growled, striding up to me and banging the dressing table so aggressively that the thick oak tree carved furniture rattled like it was made of chipboard.

I flinched, unconsciously raising my arms in front of my face. His hot, ragged breath burned me as he towered over me. Tears of fear pricked my eyes, and I trembled. Just as I tried to move away, he firmly grabbed my arm and roughly pulled me back in front of him.

"I'm asking you something." He rasped and grabbed my jaw, forcing my face up so that I could look at him. He was looming over me like death. The second I matched his gaze, I felt myself melting away in sheer fear.

He would consume me.

"Was. he. that. funny?" He asked dangerously slowly, and I immediately shook my head, my eyes filled with unshed tears.

"Then why were you laughing?" He growled like an animal, intensifying my trembling. I couldn't even form proper words. He was executing wrath so powerful, I felt like I was burning in hell.

"I-I just uh w-we had common in-interest, that's w-why...maybe." I didn't know what I was blurting out, my teary eyes too focused on his gaze, too far gone in hell to look away.

"I guess the shared interests were so funny." His rugged tone held sarcasm. He shook my head, pulling me closer to himself through his grip on my jaw.

"W-What's so wrong w-with it?" I asked, wanting to know why he was so triggered when all I did was laugh with a man, that too who was known to be a lot more human in society than him and I knew I just dug my grave by asking that.

"You are not allowed to talk to any man like that.d" His tone was threatening, leaving no room for argument.

"W-Why not?"

"Because you are my wife, the Pakhan's bride, and you will learn to respect that place." His voice held possessiveness.

"This m-marriage was forced, yo-you sinner." His grip painfully tightened on my jaw, making me whimper.

"Call me a sinner all you want, but don't forget, I would sin a thousand times more if that means keeping you mine."

ZARYA ROGOV I stared at the paper in my hand in confusion. Huh? What was this supposed to mean? I looked down at Lev and then towards the door. Just as I was about to walk out to stop her, a huge figure stepped into the room.A shiver ran down my spine when I saw Sergei standing in front of me. He was dressed in a suit, with a long black coat hanging on his broad shoulders; he looked ready to head out. His eyes twitched when he found me standing in his son's room.He was clearly not expecting me here.I immediately crumbled the paper in my palm, my heart beating faster in his presence. He looked at me from head to toe and slowly stepped closer. I gulped and took a step back."What are you doing here?" He asked, his voice firm."Uh...d-didn't you say it was m-my responsibility to look after him." I stuttered, but was proud of the excuse I just made. He looked like he was buying it.He raised his brows at me."Since when did you start listening to me?" He asked, and I pursed my lip

The bed creaked under the strength of his thrust. He ran his tongue across his lips and grabbed the girl's hair roughly in his fist, making her moan. The room was filled with her moans, his groans, and the flesh slapping against each other. He chuckled and pushed her face down into the cushions. "Too loud." He groaned as the pleasure raked through his body. He spanked her cheek, making her jump as she pushed her hips back, asking for more."Such a whore." He smirked and spanked her again, going faster as he approached his release, and just as he was about to lose it all, his phone, which was resting on the bedside table, began ringing. He groaned and ignored the call. The bliss he was approaching was the most he looked forward to."Ahhh!" He groaned and threw his head back. Sweat beads rolling down his tattooed body. The girl has already released more than he could count, but this time she didn't approach her release, and he couldn't care less. He pulled out and lightly spanked her c

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 18

ZARYA ROGOV "Now...spread your legs like a dutiful wife should."My eyes widened. He looked me right in the eye; there was no hesitation, no shame. Just unwavering determination to ruin me. I shook my head and turned to my side to crawl away, but he grabbed my waist and pulled me back to the edge. "Give in...otherwise, I know how to make you." He leaned in, making me turn my face to the left. My breath was heavy, and my eyes formed new warm tears again. His hot breath caressed my skin, making me tremble."You ha-have done enough, I won't let y-you ruin me anymore." I retorted, struggling to get away from him. He chuckled near my ear, making me flinch as goosebumps began to rise on my skin."I haven't even started." Warm tears finally began to run down my temple. How did someone like me, who never left the house, become his target? Being a Rogov was such a curse; it was imprinted on my fate. "Just kill me," I said. He wanted Rogov's blood, so he could have it. I just wanted to be fr

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 17

SERGEI MOROZOV The sound of the hospital machine beeping continuously fell on my ears as I sat in the chair by my grandfather's hospital bed. The old man held my hand in his wrinkled and weak one."You know right..." He began speaking, his voice throaty. He struggled to speak, yet he didn't stop speaking whenever I came to visit him."Your brother wasn't in love with her." He said, and my jaw twitched as I recalled the memory from eight years ago.It made my blood boil."She threatened him with the baby."*Cough* *Cough*"Don't speak anymore." I tried to suppress my commanding tone in front of him, but I just couldn't; it was rooted in me."Matvey was too soft; he fell for her tricks." He didn't stop speaking. Each word he spoke reminded me of the bitter past. "Rogov's took my Matvey." A tear slipped down his temple as he cried out. "I couldn't save him." Seeing him cry like that made my blood boil. He was once a man no different than me, and now he lay here, all sick and weak, al

ZARYA ROGOVI stared at my parents in shock. Caesar was also there, but he wasn't alone; there was a beautiful and elegant-looking woman on his side—the daughter of Ilya Volkov. Anna Volkov. She was betrothed to my brother a long time ago, but why was she here? I noticed the buckets of fruits and sweets on the table. What was happening? My mother's gaze landed on me, and she immediately stood up, staring at me with motherly yearning. Following her gaze, everyone's head turned in my direction. Father stared at me with a smile, a smile I knew wasn't genuine, and brother looked at me from head to toe as if trying to make sure I was in one piece.I hesitantly walked over to them, and my gaze went to Sergei. He was already looking at me. "Uh..." I didn't know what to say. Last time, father was yelling and cursing at me, and now he was here with all of these gifts and delicacies."Zarya." My mother walked over to me and pulled me in for a tight hug. I was stiff at first, but eventually

  • The Pakhan's Bride   CHAPTER 15

ZARYA ROGOV My heart thudded loudly in my chest as I stared at the door, not knowing what to do. My heartbeat matched the intensity of the knocking. I looked down at the broken phone and then back at the door. Not thinking much of it, I got up and limped towards the phone. Gripping the layered phone, I limped back on the bed, opened the drawer, and shoved the phone inside before closing it. I immediately lay back down on the bed, right on my stomach. I would pretend to be unconscious if that door opened on my unfortunate ass.And it did, the door slowly creaked open, followed by slow, deliberate steps that sounded like my doom. I tensed up. I was pretending to be unconscious, but my body was as stiff as a board.I felt him moving towards my bed, and I knew it was him the moment his strong scent invaded my senses. I tried my best to remain still. I heard a few more footsteps behind him.He wasn't alone. The room wasn't completely engulfed in darkness because I kept the restroom do
