Nyx's Pov

The next morning came faster than I thought.

When the knock sounded on the door, I was still curled in Caspian’s arms. He stirred first, his hand brushing down my back.

“They’re calling us,” he murmured softly.

I blinked against the light seeping through the curtains. My body was sore, but my heart was lighter than it had ever been. Still, the knock reminded me, this wasn’t over. Liam was still gone. Zade was still out there.

Caspian kissed my forehead before we both rose and dressed.

When we stepped into the hall, Rowan’s wife, Alicia, waited with two men I didn’t know. “The council is ready,” she said gently.

We followed her through the corridors until we reached a wide room I hadn’t seen before. The council chamber.

Inside, the air was thick with voices. Several Alphas sat around a long table. Their faces were hard, some scarred, some younger, but all carried the weight of battle. Rowan sat at the head, his wife standing behind him.
