Zade's Pov

By the time I got home, my blood was still burning.

I didn’t bother to greet anyone. My boots hit the marble floor hard, the sound echoing down the hall. The servants scattered like mice, their eyes down, but I could still feel them watching me from the corners.

Caspian thought he was clever. He thought that smirk at the end meant something, thought I didn’t notice how he gripped the glass I’d left, sniffing it like he’d discovered a secret.

Idiot.

It was never about the wolfsbane. Not today. That was just a whisper, a reminder that I could reach him anytime I wanted. That I could poison him, cripple him, take him apart piece by piece before he even realized what was happening.

But no, he wanted to play with words. He wanted to bring her into it.

My hands clenched before I reached my office.

The moment the door shut behind me, I threw the first thing I saw, a heavy crystal vase. It smashed against the wall, shards flying across the carpet.
