Atty. Garette who knows the familiar voice quickly turned his back to see the disturbance.

“What Bro, are you not going to greet me? Long time no see, haha,” Atty. Paolo was in his high moment, with open arms as if waiting for Atty. Garette to run to him and hug him.

“Put down your arms. You are acting as if we are lovers who have never seen each other for a long time,” Atty. Garette said chuckling while he was looking at the open arms of Atty. Paolo.

Atty. Paolo laughed more. He walked toward them and he was as if wanting to embrace Dianthe but Atty. Garette, slapped his arm.

“Cut that off, Paolo. You are overacting,” Atty. Garette said while frowning at Atty. Paolo.

“Alright, alright. I am just happy you came back and much happier that you came back here with Miss Dianthe with you,” he said while winking at Dianthe. “Hi Miss Dianthe,” he said further while extending his hand to her for a handshake.

Dianthe, was already smiling wide with the naughtiness of Atty. Paolo. She accepted

The ambiance of the five-star restaurant at the Savoy was designed for discretion—dim lighting, thick velvet booths, and the soft clinking of silver against bone china. But despite the luxury, the air at the table was sharp enough to draw blood.Atty. Garette sat with his back to the wall, the quintessential executive in a charcoal-grey suit that screamed power and precision. Beside him, Dianthe felt the weight of the room’s gaze. She was no longer just the woman from the garden party; she was the wife of the most formidable legal mind in the country. However, the woman sitting across from them didn’t seem to care about titles.Sandra Belosh was a vision of calculated, high-fashion aggression. Clad in a scarlet Dior suit that mirrored the deep red of the vintage Bordeaux she was currently swirling, she looked like a female hawk waiting for the right moment to strike. Her father, the late Josh Belosh, had been a titan of industry, leaving behind a retail empire consisting of eight mass

As the elevator door opened, Garette gently pulled Dianthe inside and as the door closed, he enclosed her in his arms. In a second his lips claimed hers in a possessive, excited manner. When they reached the floor of their booked suite room, Garette carried Dianthe in a bridal style from the elevator to their room. The click of the main door lock was the starting gun.Atty. Garette didn’t even wait to reach the bedroom. He pressed Dianthe against the mahogany door of the suite, his hands tangling in her hair, sending the pins from the garden party scattering across the floor. The scent of Elena Vance’s expensive catering and the suffocating high-society perfume was replaced by the intoxicating musk of Garette’s skin and the sweetness of the perfume on Dianthe’s smooth skin."I’ve been wanting to do that since the moment we stepped onto that lawn," Garette growled, his lips grazing the sensitive skin of her throat.Dianthe arched her back, her hands frantic as she clawed at his silk ti

The air in the suite was brittle. Dianthe stood before the full-length mirror, staring at her reflection. She wasn't the girl from the ranch today. She wasn't the nurse in scrubs. She reached into her jewelry case and pulled out the diamond ring Garette had bought her—the one she had called a "shackle." She put it there before she took a shower. She slid it onto her finger, the stone catching the cold Cambridge light like a weapon.Garette watched her from the doorway, his eyes dark and unreadable. He had seen her handle medical emergencies with ice in her veins, but he had never seen her look like this—composed, sharp, and dangerous."You don't have to do this, Dianthe," he said, though his voice betrayed his pride. "I can have security clear the garden.""No," Dianthe said, turning to face him. She smoothed the skirt of her tailored, deep-red dress. "You said it’s a war. In my village, when a predator comes to your door, you don't hide in the cellar. You show them that the house is

The morning light in Cambridge was a pale, sickly gray, filtering through the heavy drapes of the hotel’s suite room. Dianthe woke up, the empty space beside her still warm, though Garette had already moved to the small sitting area to take a hushed, early-morning call with the Texas ranch. She sat up, rubbing her eyes, her mind immediately jumping back to the hallway confrontation. The sense of being watched hadn't left her.As she stood up to reach for her robe, something white caught her eye. It was a small, square envelope, partially hidden under the heavy oak door. It hadn't been there when they went to sleep.Dianthe picked it up. There was no name, no address—just the lingering, cloying scent of Elena Vance’s perfume. Her heart did a slow, painful roll in her chest. She opened the envelope with trembling fingers. Inside was a single, high-resolution photograph. It wasn't a professional shot; it was a candid, grainy photo taken in a dimly lit, high-end bar - the kind of place wh

The elevator ride back to the hotel suite was as silent as a library with an old librarian with thick rimmed glass, pawning at any student who dare make a sound. Garette’s hand remained firmly on the small of Dianthe’s back, a possessive gesture that felt more like a protective shield than an embrace. The confrontation with Elena Vance had left a bitter aftertaste that even the finest vintage couldn't wash away.As the gold doors chimed and opened onto the velvet-carpeted hallway, Garette stopped.Standing by the door to the suite immediately adjacent to theirs was a bellhop, struggling with a mountain of designer luggage—trunks embossed with the unmistakable "EV" monogram. And leaning against the door frame, still draped in her cream-colored fur, was Elena. She was slowly peeling off her leather gloves, watching them approach with a triumphant, feline smile."What a coincidence," she purred, clicking her tongue. "It seems the city’s fine hotels are all fully booked except this one. T

The city’s signature restaurant was a cathedral of high ceilings, precious aroma of well crafted recipe of food, and a relaxing ambiance. Garette had secured a corner table, tucked away in an alcove that offered a modicum of privacy from the prying eyes of the Cambridge elite. He sat across from Dianthe, the amber glow of the candlelight softening the sharp, legalistic lines of his face. For the first time in days, he looked relaxed—or as relaxed as a man like Garette Le Brione could ever be. He had spent the afternoon winning his case, but his true prize was the woman currently sipping a glass of vintage Bordeaux across from him."You're remarkably quiet tonight," Garette noted, his voice a low hum. "Still thinking about the model?""I'm thinking about the fact that you think a expensive dinner can fix a scene like that," Dianthe replied, though a small, playful tilt of her lips betrayed her."I don't think it fixes it. I think it distracts you long enough for me to prove that I have
