Ella's pov
I woke up really tired from last night fun with Justin. He sure knows how to make me feel good. I flinged my shoes off my leg and fell tiredly on the couch.
“Ms. Ella, Mr. Fleming has scheduled a meeting with you at 8 PM at the XX villa,” Zach’s secretary messaged her.
I opened my eyes wider than normal when I realized the message only interpreted that Zach is back, and he's even in the house.
Zach’s back? When I got married, I believed I would finally become Zach’s wife, enjoying his love and wealth. But in reality, Zach had only pretended to go along with his father’s wishes. He only saw me as a mere decoration. His marriage to me was like a contract to him.
We've been married for three years but we've never lived like a real married couples. Zach has never had any meal with me, he only shows up when we're having a family dinner.
I learned about Zach’s schedule from others, and if we were to meet, it was always arranged by his secretary. I hate this cold man. No matter what tactics I used, he would never soften.
I wonder why he wants to see me, he just got back from Europe and the first thing he wants to do is meet with me? I had a bad feeling about it, but I didn't want it to bother me too much, he had probably seen the picture flying around. He has never cared about my lifestyle so I don't think anything would change.
I removed my clothes and walked into the bathroom to have my bath before meeting him downstairs. Even though we live in the same house we don't see each other.
After my bath I decided to pick a sexy dress, maybe he might find me attractive for the first time.
I panicked for a moment, even though I thought of seducing him, I still don't have a good feeling about this meeting we're about to have.
After looking at myself in the mirror for a few minutes, I decided to summon the courage and go to him. He has never cared about what I did so it's not going to change now.
*******
When I got downstairs, Zach was already seated on the couch. “This has to be a serious conversation.” I muttered when I saw a file on the table.
“Hey, you…
“This is the divorce agreement and the property settlement agreement. If you have no objections, just sign here,” Zach said, moving the thick stack of papers on the table to mr. He stood up immediately, probably planning to leave as soon as the papers were signed.
I was confused, I can't believe he's thinking of divorcing me.
“You are not serious, are you?” I asked, but then I realized we've never joked with each other before so there's no way he's joking.
“Why will you request for a divorce without prior notice? I have endured this relationship just because this is what the public and both families want, why are you making it difficult for me?” I asked him angrily.
“I can prove to the public that the image flying around isn't me, both of us know that claiming adultery as the reason for the divorce won't do you any good, you'll be left with nothing.”
“Why? Why do you hate me so much? You have had your own share of this adultery but you want me to suffer the consequences alone? You know you're being very unreasonable.”
“I am not obliged to prove to you that I haven't betrayed our marriage, I don't go around sleeping with married people.” I was left speechless.
“If you sign, I’ll divide the assets according to the original agreement: five properties and other assets. If you don’t sign, you’ll get even less,” Zach said, growing impatient.
I was confused because if I agree to sign the divorce then my social status will drop, the only reason why I have this large visibility is because of my marriage to him. At this point I didn't know the decision to take.
“Please let's not do this Zach, I will be careful, I'll make sure this kind of thing never happens again.” I had to beg because this marriage means the most to me.
We had signed a contract when we got married, one that acknowledged the marriage was only for our parents’ sake. It covered pre-marital assets and outlined the terms for divorce.
I only wished to play around in his absence. I never wanted to lose my title as his wife. Without that title I wouldn’t be revered in the art world or hold such power.
“People should be content with what they have. It wasn’t exactly proper that you were chosen to marry me. Just because I didn’t say anything before doesn’t mean I didn’t know,” Zach said coldly.
I froze not saying anything to him. I signed the divorce papers based on the agreement we had prior to our marriage.
“You don’t have someone else, do you?” I tried probing, handing him the signed contract. I don't believe for a second that Zach could care for someone else. He was as cold as ice, and when he spoke, it was usually to insult someone.
Zach ignored my question, quickly confirming the contract before leaving.
The more I thought about it, the angrier I became—angry at the money and status I was losing. In a fit of rage, I blocked all of Justin’s contacts.
“I can't believe I met that son of a b**ch ruin my perfect life.” I wailed In regret when Zach was out of the house, soon he's going to announce to everyone that we are no longer together.
While I was still trying to recover from the shock, the sound of my ringing tone brought me back to reality.
I picked the call immediately.
“Mummy.” Tears welled down my eyes the moment I picked her call.
“I just got off the phone with Zach, I'm on my way to your house, so don't think of doing anything stupid.” Mom said and ended the call.
Writer’s pov“Zach and I are fine. Right now we are talking about your relationship with Kendrick, and I really don’t want you to make any mistake because he has given a lot of reasons why you shouldn’t trust him, which is why I am sounding this way, but if you think he is trustworthy enough, then you can go ahead and do what you want to do; I won’t stop you.” Sally was not convinced at all after hearing everything that Kayla had to say to her because it was obvious there is something else disturbing Kayla, and it has nothing to do with Sally’s misunderstanding with Kendrick.“I will think about it and come up with a decision later.” Sally responded and looked at Kayla’s face again. She was trying to find out if there’s a way she could figure out through Kayla’s facial expression that there is something bothering her, but if Kayla insists on not saying anything, then there’s nothing she can do to help.Sally went into the room and left Kayla all by herself in the sitting room. Sally's POVKendrick and I could not come to any agreement because I was still in shock, and I needed to think about it first before making such a drastic move. I have made one before, and I totally regretted it, so I’m not ready to make any mistake again. When I got back to the house, I sat on the couch tiredly because there was a lot on my mind at this point. Judging from his facial expression, I could clearly tell that he was being genuine about what he was saying, but his background is scary, and his parents—I don’t know if I can stand both of their troubles. His mom has disliked me from the moment she set her eyes on me, so it is very difficult for me to accept his proposal, especially when his parents are not in support of our relationship. This is obviously the reason why his sister wanted to meet with me the other day, but I guess she wasn’t bold enough to bring up the conversation, which is why she had to reschedule our meeting. “Oh my goodness, my head hurts.” I said to mys
Writer's povKendrick was so frustrated that he didn’t think so much about how disrespectful he sounded; the only thing that matters to him right now is that his mom listens to him and sees where he’s coming from. It’s the fact that she’s being selfish about this whole thing and trying to make it seem like she’s doing it for him when in reality all she cares about is the company.“Mom, please. I have something urgent to do when I return; we can continue this conversation, but for now I have to leave.” Kendrick's mom was not having this conversation because she felt like he was trying to make her feel like a bad mom.“No, Kendrick, we are going to have this conversation now, and what do you mean by I should call off the engagement? Are you even listening to yourself?”“Mom, they are the ones that need us, not the other way around, so why are you trying to force this marriage on me?”“I thought you were old enough to understand what is going on, but it seems like you are not as mature a
Writer's povSally could not believe her ears; she was wondering why Kendrick would say such a thing to her. For a moment she thought he saw her as someone that is desperate to be married into a wealthy family. She started laughing because it wasn’t making any sense to her.“What makes you think I'll agree to such evil?” Sally asked angrily.Kendrick was surprised to see her reacting this way because he wasn’t expecting her reaction to be like this, and then he realized she might have to get in the wrong way.“I know that you're still mad at me for the way I handled the situation at work, but I promise you that I will never behave like that with you anymore, and getting married to you is not because I want to run away from my parents' plan. The truth is I have been keeping my feelings for you private because I didn’t want to hurt you, and I was planning on going along with my parents' wish. I know that it is hard for you to believe me, but this is my truth.” Sally was speechless becau
Sally's POV It was confusing going out to meet Kylie, and she had to reschedule because of some little family matters. I tried my best to act like I wasn’t concerned, but in reality I was really concerned about what the problem could be because I know Kendrick a little very well, and I know that he is a big overthinker and things always get to him.“I hope he's good.” I whispered to myself and tried to forget about it because I don't want to stress myself about something that doesn't really concern me. Since the day I resigned from the company, he has never forgotten to call me or text me and see how I’m doing, so I don’t see any reason why I should be bothered about him. I tried to console myself with the reality that he and I are no longer friends. Kayla was not at home, and as a bad cook, I don't think I can make myself anything to eat right now. There was obviously nothing available to eat, so I decided to drink a can of beer. The moment I picked it from the fridge, I heard my p
Writer's povSally got to the restaurant where she was supposed to meet with Kylie. She was wondering what could be so urgent that Kylie wants to talk about with her. When she sat down, she looked around, feeling a little uncomfortable because a part of her was thinking it might be her mom. Sally decided to wait a little and not jump to conclusions yet. After waiting for almost thirty minutes, she was tired and stood up to leave when she saw Kylie walk inside the restaurant.Sally was a little frustrated, but she decided not to pour her frustration on Kylie and just hear what she has to say first."I am so sorry for keeping you waiting; there was an urgent situation at home.""Why did you ask to meet me?" Sally was trying to ignore what she said about having an urgent situation at home, so she went straight to the point and asked her for the reason why she wants both of them to meet. They have no relationship at all, so it was kind of shocking getting her call in the first place."Umm
