After all that talk with Casper about the videos and the identification of Jared, my heart became restless. Part of me did not stop thinking about him, as if I felt that he was closer and closer to me. Unfortunately, he was not, and it gave me a huge squeeze on my chest. All I wanted was to be able to hold my children and say that I loved them very much. I also planned to apologize for not being able to protect them. Maybe they didn’t understand any of that, but I felt I owed it to them.

Lancelot and I were living in his house. It seemed wrong to continue living in my house without the children. Casper was against the idea, but Lancelot insisted. For my safety, it was even better to be with someone else. Should I stay with Casper, who was my love and first mate, the father of my children, and a completely relevant alpha in the city? Or should I stay with Lancelot, my second mate, who happened to be the same species as the kidnappers? Of course, I chose Lancelot. I was coming to the co

I took Lancelot to a quieter square, still in Jenjen Village. There was no chance of having that serious conversation in the café, as I was sure he would prefer to work rather than talk. We were already late, so there was no reason to rush. Even though Lancelot was the owner, I felt that, in a way, he took his work seriously. Part of me knew that eventually, when things calmed down, I would be held accountable for my performance at work. However, I wasn't looking forward to that day.“Where should I start?” he asked me as soon as we parked in the lot. “I don't know if there's much to talk about, but I think it's important to answer your questions,” he offered. I felt like I was about to see a side of him I had never seen before. In a way, I was worried. What if I didn't like what I heard?“Start by talking about your family,” I said. I wanted to know about his origins, especially now that I knew his father was a threat. Knowing more about Lancelot was also a matter of safety. If he co

Looking at Lancelot like that made me wonder if I could handle that kind of problem in the long run. Did he always have those control issues? I would like to know, because if the answer were yes, I might reconsider some of my decisions and life choices. In a way, that seemed to me a certain way of preparing for the future when children begin to transform. It was a very troubled period in the life of a wolf. The first changes were tense and uncontrollable. I felt sorry for Lancelot.I stood by the camera, waiting for Lancelot to turn human again. “I’d like you to tell me more about yourself. I believe that if I know more about your past, who you are, and how things are for you, everything will be easier. I don’t know much about medium wolves, Lancelot. Like most of us normal wolves, we grow up hearing bad things about you. That thought doesn’t change easily, which is ironic, since I felt a warm connection with you ever since we saw each other,” I said, venting. However, I didn’t know i

“Yes, exactly. One of the city cameras was able to capture a picture of Jared. We don’t know exactly where he is, but we have the approximate location where the photo was taken,” Casper explained. “We are working on tracing a route based on the images and also using other sources of information that we have. We got a video too, but it’s too blurry, and we can’t get much out of it, but we’re trying to find someone who can identify something,” he said confidently. “This is a big step. Knowing that we are closer to finding the children is incredible,” I commented, my countenance reflecting the hope we all felt. Casper then waved to one of the men, who approached and showed us the images of Jared. “Ah, son,” I said, not containing the tears. It was really him; he seemed fine, which gave me great relief.“It’s a significant breakthrough, but there is still a lot of work to be done,” Casper said, looking a little overwhelmed. “The situation is delicate, and we need to act with caution. The

“What is it?” I asked, wondering what it was about. I found it strange that he answered in such a short time, but coming from Casper and his sudden interest in me, it was perhaps not so surprising. “I woke up recently. I’m sorry I didn’t answer earlier,” I said, justifying myself as if I hadn’t done it before.“We have a lead, Naomi,” he said on the other side of the line. “One of our city cameras managed to catch Jared,” he said. Hearing my son’s name, my heart froze. I had located my son, and I couldn’t wait to see him. “Unfortunately, I can’t tell you where he is because we don’t know, but we have the location of the picture,” he said, excited. Knowing that he really wanted to meet the children and everything was not acting made my heart warm. “I need you to come as soon as possible to the company,” he said. “I mean, you come,” he said. Although I could not see him, I knew I was rolling my eyes when referring to Lancelot.“I don’t think it would be a good idea to go back to the com

Lancelot guided me to a cozy room with warm tones and wooden furniture. The characteristic smell of its presence was impregnated in the environment, creating a sense of familiarity and security. Our eyes crossed for a moment, full of unspoken meanings. It was as if our souls were communicating in silence, sharing the depth of the emotions we were experiencing. As the night fell and shadows filled the room, the silence between us was comforting. We didn’t need words to express what we felt. We lay side by side, our bodies close together, but not close enough to touch. The closeness was electrifying, like a subtle promise of something deeper and more intense to come. Our smells were very subtle, very present, and a mess. The darkness of the night gradually turned into a restful and restorative sleep. I found myself drifting in dreams, where the real world and the imaginary were magically mixed. Images of wolves running through the forest, free and wild, danced in my mind, evoking a sens
