When he got inside, he immediately took a tight grip of my hand. And although it hurts me a little, I gave him a deadly stare, as if threatening that if he doesn’t let go, something bad is going to happen.
“You don’t question my choices! You can never do better than me,” he put emphasis on every word.
I leaned closer to him. “If you don’t want to, you should shut your mouth. And please, you’re not even that better. I could do nothing and yet I would still be better than you,” I also put emphasis on every word before pulling back my hand. I gave him my sweet smile. “Where are we going next, honey?” I asked full of sarcasm.
He gave me his deadly look before turning his face in front and started the engine. I do not intend to push him to his limit, but if he keeps insulting me, I would never let him be satisfied.
He's someone not worth having an argument with, but his arrogance is getting into my nerves.
After a few minutes of silence, he suddenly spoke. “Wanna know the real reason why we are arranged in a marriage?” I could see him smirking from my peripheral vision.
“Not interested, I've heard enough shits from you.”
He let out his devious laugh. “Oh, you'd love to hear this. It's because your family is sick of someone useless like you and they wanna get rid of you by throwing you to us. At least that way, they could get something beneficial out of you.”
I remained silent. I know it’s just one of his tactics to make me feel bad about myself. Though it’s slightly affecting me, I won’t let him get inside my head.
“It's actually a win-win situation. I get to make you into one of my toys, and your family's illegal businesses get its wider expansion.”
I am very much aware of my family’s dirty businesses. I am not naive. When I was eleven years old, me and my four other siblings were brought by our dad to the location of his hugely owned cartel.
The memory of seeing countless forms of firearms is still vivid in my head. I saw how some of his men were testing guns on real animals. It was terrifying, but as a good actress, my dad didn't see my real reaction.
I still remember his words, that in the future, me and my siblings will be the ones running the businesses. I don't think I would be able to handle such a job.
Our oldest brother has been assisting dad with the cartel. I guess I could say he's inheriting that business.
“Don't be so confident that you could make me one of your toys. You need to go through a needle hole before that could happen,” I replied. “And even without you, we can expand our own businesses. You were the ones who offered the marriage. It simply indicates that you don't have the means to expand yours.”
He chuckled. “Oh, honey, I love women like you, who know how to fight back, but deep inside is a vulnerable little kitten. I can’t wait to play the real game with you, especially in bed,” he whispered his last word, giving an effect.
“We'll see about that.”
He stopped his car in front of a cafe. He then unbuckled his seatbelt. “You can’t come with me, I’m meeting my girl,” he said and went out.
I tsked. Meeting his girl while he’s with his fiancé? How ridiculous! His girl? Probably he meant his toy girl. I wonder what his parents would say if I told them that their precious son is acting ridiculous around his fiancé. But, anyways, I don’t care.
As long as he won’t bother me with whatever I do, I won’t bother him with his.
As I watched the boring road with cars and people, my phone suddenly rang. I lifelessly picked it up and answered it without looking at who called.
“Hello?” I sounded lifeless.
That bastard fiancé of mine got into my nerves that my energy was drained with that childish argument with him.
I don’t know how I am supposed to live the rest of my life with him. I’m pretty much sure we both hated each other and possibly, a day won’t pass without us fighting.
“What’s wrong? You didn’t like the chocolates I gave you?” a familiar voice on the other line asked. And for some unknown reason, my soul became lively again. It feels like some sort of adrenaline got activated inside of me.
“Uh… No, it’s not like that. Uhm… W-Why did you call? Do you need anything?” I actually didn’t expect him to call. I thought it was just a one-time interaction with him yesterday.
“Nothing, I got bored,” he replied in an obviously bored tone.
“Uhm… Don’t you have other things to do?” I peeked through the window on the driver’s seat to see if Sebastian was back. And gladly, he isn’t yet. “I mean, you obviously look like a busy business man. People like you never stop working. I’ve seen my parents and siblings that way.”
“Yeah, I have a lot of pending work to do, but I decided to be bored.”
I couldn’t help, but smile. “So, it’s a choice, then.”
“I mean, I’ve done the same things over and over again. It’s becoming boring.”
“Hmm… So, why don’t you go have some fun then? Like, go to a bar or something? Go shopping? Or visit an amusement park? I heard the rides are fun.”
“It’s boring and sad to go alone.”
I chuckled. “You can also get sad? How does someone who looks so tough like you get sad?”
“Ouch! I’m not an alien, Princess, or someone who has an iron heart. I’m also a human who can feel emotions.”
“Opss… My bad. But, really, how can you get sad if someone like you can afford to buy or rent a companion? You have money,” I sarcastically said, but a smile never left my lips.
“Hmm… Can I rent you, then?”
I couldn’t help but let out a short laugh. “Sorry, I’m quite occupied for today. I can’t add you anymore to my busy schedule.”
“Aww… How about later then? Tonight?”
“Sorry, I’m really quite busy today. I have a lot of things to do. I still have an unfinished design I need to do for next week.”
“Okay, next time, then. Anyways, how’s your day going?”
“It’s quite exhausting. My day started bad and I’m currently with someone who never fails to make my blood boil everytime he opens his mouth to speak,” I then let out an exhausted sigh.
It kinda feels good to be able to let out my exhaustion on someone. And it feels good someone is actually asking about my day. Nobody really cared until he asked.
“So, it’s a ‘he’?” he asked.
“Yup, and he’s officially added to the list of people that I hate. Just knowing he breathes irritates me.”
I heard his soft laugh on the other side. “Who was it? Your friend?”
My smile slowly faded. “Someone irrelevant to my life. He’s that unimportant.”
“Then why make him get into you? If he’s a nobody, he’s probably not worth your time.”
“I thought of that, too,” I replied in a low tone.
“Oh, come on, don’t let him affect you. The day is quite pretty today, you can do a lot of pretty things ahead. You can’t let him ruin that for you. A pretty princess like you does not deserve to be bothered by someone irrelevant, okay?”
I smiled again. Though my day is already ruined, it doesn’t mean he’s not right.
“You are really getting used to calling me ‘princess’, huh”?! Did you know that I picked people who are allowed to call me by that nickname?”
“Oh, pardon! Am I not included on the list? Princess, you can’t do anything if I want to call you that way. I mean, you don’t have any magic spells that could stop me, aren’t you?”
I laughed. “I don’t, but only those who are inside of our house are allowed to call me that, my family, the maids, and the driver.”
“I was your driver yesterday.”
“Yeah, because my real driver wasn't present yesterday. You're just a part-timer.”
“Well, can I apply as a full-timer then so I could call you 'my princess' everyday?”
“My dad doesn't pay our drivers well. You could go broke.”
“I can do it for free.”
I shortly laughed again. “You are not making any sense, did you know that? It feels like wasting time talking to you.”
He chuckled. “But, at least, I am making you laugh. It's what matters most.”
“I am amazed with how confident you are talking to me. We're not even friends. I barely knew you yet somehow, I have become comfortable.”
He became silent for a second or two.
Oh, shit! Did I just confess being comfortable with him? This is what really happens when I become too comfortable, I say whatever I want to say.
“Well, I’m overwhelmed that you feel that way. And it simply means that even if you barely knew a person, you two could still be good friends together,” he replied. “And I bet, you’re probably happy by now if I am the one you are with.”How I wish it was just him, too.“Anyways, did you try on the suits you bought last night?”“Yup, and they fit just enough for my size. You are good at body estimation.”“You know what, I think it would be more appealing if you’re going to like braiding your hair or something to make you look clean to look at.”“Princess, it’s my hair that makes me look appealing. But, if you say so, you better be the one to fix my hair on that day. I trust your taste more than my personal hairdresser.”I rested my head on my seat and closed my eyes. I couldn't believe I could still feel the calmness amidst this so-unfortunate day of my life. Where was this kind of man at when I needed someone like him before?! But, I still do need to be careful with him. He may be ni
My phone beeps, indicating that there's a new notification. And when I looked at it, it was a message from mom.:You two will be visiting a real estate agent who is a great friend of your fiancé after your visit to the wedding organizer. You certainly need a place to stay after marriage. And that's it, one more reason to ruin this day for me.When I peeked on the window near the driver’s seat, I saw Sebastian walking towards his car.“Oh, he’s here. We need to go. I’ll talk to you later, ‘kay? Thank you once more for the treat and the chit chat,” I said.“Thank you for your time, too. It was fun talking with you. Bye.”“Bye,” I then hung up the call and waited for Sebastian to get inside.I then plastered my obviously sarcastic smile. This man doesn't deserve to see my sweet and genuine smile. He had me waiting for him for more than half an hour. When he got inside the car, he was rather silent and he had this angry look on his face. Probably not a good time to tell him what he just d
We heard a sudden loud music from the neighborhood as if there was a party going on. It’s broad daylight, why do people do parties at this time of the day?!I turned to the man. “I’ll be saying sorry in advance. There’s always a party going on with one of your future neighbors. But, you don’t have to worry much since your soon-to-be house is sound proof,” he assured us.I smiled, indicating that it’s fine with me. “We will be heading on our way out now,” I bid my goodbye to the man while Sebastian went into his car without saying anything.“Can’t wait to see you two move over here,” the man said, smiling.“We’ll see,” I replied and followed Sebastian to the car. He then maneuvered the car without saying anything. We were both silent throughout our journey. I didn’t bother asking him where we are heading ‘cause he’s obviously not in the mood. After a few more minutes, we are now passing by a familiar surrounding. I’m pretty sure this was the same area we passed by when we headed to the
When he got into the car, he maneuvered the car and went at full speed. We almost hit some of the cars along us, but the bastard didn’t seem to mind what he’s doing. My heart went racing every time we almost hit a car. But, I didn’t let him know that I felt a little scared for my life. Until he finally stopped the car in front of an unfamiliar area. I know he is up to something bad for me right now. I felt a short relief when I saw that we are not in a secluded place or something like that. I could still see people and cars passing by and I saw stores around. If he does something stupid, I could easily ask for help. After he unbuckled his seatbelt, without a warning, he grabbed my other wrist and took a tight grip on it. My face grimaced as I felt the electrifying pain from my wrist up to my arm. Shit! He’s really up to something bad. “What the heck?! Let go of me!” I shouted as I tried to pull back my hand with all my force, but it didn’t bother him. This man is an absolute abus
After wiping my eyes while they remained shut, I suddenly felt someone sit on the bench. I quickly opened my eyes and stood to see who it was.God must be playing tricks on me ‘cause it was Lurcos, giving me a worried look. I sat right and looked away from him.“W-What are you doing here?” I asked while trying to cover my bruised knees with the hem of my dress. I turned to him when I realized something. “Did you track me all the way here?” I asked in pure disbelief. But, to my surprise, his expression didn’t change. Did he not hear me? Or maybe he was too worried to care? He still has this worried look. He gently grabbed both my hands and took a good look at my bruises. I tried grabbing my hands back, but he didn’t let me. I was embarrassed and I didn’t know why.“Did he do this to you?” he asked in a cold manner, probably referring to someone I am with that I told him earlier.I pulled my hands back with a little force and looked away again. “It’s nothing,” I replied.I wasn’t prepar
After an hour passed, he covered my wrists with small pieces of clothing. The rain stopped pouring so he went to his car’s driver seat and me to his passenger’s seat.“Where should we go now?” he asked, while turning on the engine.“I don’t know. Maybe you could take me home?” I suggested.“Or maybe I could take you with me first before I take you home. How about that?”My forehead furrowed. “Where are we going?”He gave me his sly smile. “Somewhere fun. You’ll see.” He then started maneuvering the car.It didn’t take us long before we reached our destination. He quickly got out of the car to open the door for me.Just by looking around, I could say we’re in a club. I see ladies wearing outfits that only cover their sensitive parts. I’m not naive, but it makes me feel awkward seeing ladies exposing too much of their skin. I mean, don’t they feel cold wearing them?Lurcos guided me inside the bar. I was following him from behind. We were then welcomed by the loud hype music from the DJ
I was amazed the whole time. It feels like nothing could rip away my smiles and joy. Until the ride stopped moving when we reached the top so I was a bit confused. I moved a little and looked down to see what’s happening down there. But, then I saw the operator leaving so I panicked a little. “Wait, the man’s leaving us here, look!” I turned to Lurcos, but he just gave me his sweet look.He gently pulled closer to his side and wrapped his arm around my waist. “Don’t worry, he’s just probably leaving for a snack. He’ll surely be back later,” he said with his assuring tone.“Wait! Did you plan this?” He chuckled. “One little tiny surprise won’t hurt. Let’s enjoy the city lights instead, shall we?” he pointed to the view in front of us.We were so high that we could see a huge part of the city from up here, the city lights and the lights from the cars stuck in the never ending traffic. The blending of the lights turns out to be like an art handmade by a great artist. It was peaceful to
He got out of his car and ran towards the other side to open the door for me. He then gently held my hand and directed me towards the elevator. Our surroundings were quiet so we could hear our own footsteps. He let go of my hand and pressed the 20th floor button and the door shut.I then thought of asking him something. “Are you not sleepy yet?”She shook his head once, “Nope, not a little.”“How about you, are you feeling sleepy now?”I also shook my head. “Nope,” I replied. Although staying awake this late may ruin my usual sleep schedule, I don’t mind at all.“Don’t you have class tomorrow?”“I have, but just one minor subject tomorrow at four pm ‘till six. So, it’s okay to stay awake late.”After a few more moments, the elevator stopped and the door opened. We were greeted by the warm light of the hallway. I was following Lurcos behind as we made our way toward his door. He stopped and opened his door and went inside while I waited for him to invite me inside.“Come in,” he ordere
