Kael's POV:

My pulse quickened when I heard what my beta had said. I didn't leave the pack unprotected, but my mind went to the council members and the nursing mothers in the pack then my mate. I felt my wolf, Rowan, stirred. He was restless. The air suddenly felt too heavy and the space felt very tight.

The colour of my eyes changed to gold, the colour of my wolf’s eyes. Derek stopped the car as he heard me growl. I stepped down and my bones snapped very quickly leaving no time to get off the clothes. I heard my beta's breath heavily, he shifted too.

We raced through the woods, the trees appeared blurry as we passed. The familiar walls of the territory came into view, my stomach sank. There was a lot of movement along the borders- Guards, healers, scouts- almost every group from the pack were there. I could tell there was a lot of tension, considering my pack members were not aware of what's happened.

I shifted back to human form.

There's usually not the incident of attacks, even when I agreed to train other pack soldiers and my pack soldiers came along. The pack was left with small defence then. I will send a message to other packs to inform them about the last few days, maybe a general council meeting.

“Alpha!” One of the soldiers called and bowed his head quickly.“The rogues came from the north. They were about twenty.”

“Were there any serious casualties? Where's my ma- mom?” I asked hurriedly.

The pack doesn't know about my Goddess given mate yet. Pack law is that I can assume the Alpha position, but if I don't find my mate after three full moons then I will have a chosen mate to be my Luna. Then if the goddess fated mate is found, the next full moon is the Luna ceremony. The full moon is a month away. This is going to be the fourth full moon since I assumed the Alpha position so the next full moon is supposed to be the Luna ceremony.

I wore the shorts handed to me by the soldier. I should go around the pack and have a meeting concerning how this matter should be handled and find out if the Moon pack is really destroyed. I wondered how my mate was going to take this, she was pure Alpha blooded, I could sniff it. So that means her dad or brother was the alpha. For a pack to be destroyed like the Alpha is dead, the pack members may be taken as slaves but the alpha’s bloodline is not spared.

“A rogue was caught by the stranger?” The soldier said behind me.

“How's that possible?” My Beta asked behind me. His voice sounded coarse.

“She tried to escape during the rogue's attack, but held one in the hopes that she would find out why they attacked her pack.

A muscle ticked in my jaw. I turned to face my beta, He was the only one that knew about her being my mate. I felt my wolf become restless, it growled in protest at the thought of her fleeing.

“Where's she now?” My beta asked. I think my expression gave it off.

It seemed my mate was going to give us trouble, but what did I expect from a full blooded female. I exhaled slowly, forcing control.

“She’s being held,” the soldier replied and bowed his head while he faced my beta.

“Bring her to me.”

She needed to be taught a lesson. I don't blame her for trying to escape, considering she wasn't aware of what was happening. The soldier left.

The courtyard of the pack house smelled faintly of smoke and iron from dawn. The guards walked around the edges of the clearing. The lantern glowed against the dusk, their orange flames flickered in the cool wind. A figure approached us. My beta quickly excused himself.

“There you are,” she said as soon as she was sure I would hear her. She smiled and her eyes flickered to my beta retreating figure.

It was Clara, she's the alpha's daughter of the silver pack. She's my chosen mate and supposed to be Luna of my pack after the ceremony. She was chosen by the council to form an alliance with her pack. She lost her fated mate in a fight between our packs. Our union was a form of alliance between our packs.

“You came back quite early,” she said and wrapped her arms on my neck to draw me into a hug.

I stiffened.

“I heard about the attack so I had to rush down.”

I sniffed her honey perfume, but it didn't do anything to calm me. Her golden hair shimmered with the sun rays. She rested her head on my chin and her hands tugged at her sides. I kept my hands on her waist.

My wolf stirred under my skin and claws itched. I raised my face and locked eyes with her. It seemed the air supply was shorter, Clara gave me a questioning look and followed my eyes.

She was in chains and being dragged along by the soldier and a guard. She looked better than the last time I saw her. Her wounds have healed except a visible wound by her lips. Her long dark brown hair looked disheveled. They pushed her to her knees in front of us. Her eyes flickered quickly to my hands on Clara’s waist, so fast I almost missed it. Her breaths were uneven.

The sight of my mate being treated in such a manner. I growled. The soldier tugged the chain lighter when he sensed I wasn't pleased. Clara shifted and placed her hand on my chest.

“Honey, It seems you have a matter to settle,” she stood on her toes and placed a kiss on my cheeks. Then continued. “I should go back to prepare for the Luna ceremony.”

The guard lowered his gaze and the soldier coughed lightly as he tried to ease the tension. Her gaze lowered to the fl

CHAPTER 35Alpha Brad's POV:It has been months. Months since the attack. Months since some damned goddess appeared and placed a curse on myself and my men. Now we were nothing but carnal wolves roaming from one abandoned reservations to another. Growling under a quest of power that had been forbidden us.How I did not see any of this coming, would forever be a big blow to my person. And just like that Kael got to keep the pack. Arianna got to be the Luna and I can't help but smirk as to how all these has left Clara. Devastated. Crazy how she always expected me to come through for her at the end of the day. But this has always been about me but not her. She was just my daughter. Not my fault she got birthed to the wrong wolf. If there were to be an award for best father's, I would be clearly off the chart. Now I had about a dozen or so men who had choose to stay loyal. One of them was Halal. The Arabian werewolf turned brother and friend. Most of the men who stayed had stayed on acco

CHAPTER 34Austin's POV:Moon pack is taking a new form so fast that even I, find it hard to believe. When we arrived first I was too broken hearted from the memories I mean I literally grew up here but it was now debris and tatters. Plus my parents are dead and my sister is miles away in the bosom of a man who had better love her right or I would slice his throat without thinking twice. But as my father once said, healing comes from dealing with it. So I dealt with it. By now, Cole had proved to be trustworthy and work effective. His men were effective as well. I thought they were all foot soldiers but no.Some were farmers, they cultivated our own food once the debris was cleared. The burnt unused land was productive. They were seasoned chefs too and even trained health practitioners. I owe Kael a special thanks.First things first was to build a high fence around the entire perimeter. As much as that drew attention, we did not want rogues or people trouping in and out on their own

CHAPTER 33Austin's POV:I slump in my sleeping bag. It's in the middle of this tent I built and the fire crackling outside is on the verge of turning off and leaving me alone in the dark. Utterly alone.Maybe not alone. The night animals growls, the midnight air, the trees swishing in concordance, twigs snapping, the wind howling. But this was not the kind of company I wanted.I have been out here sojourning for about four or five days. I cannot really tell. It is hard surviving alone in the woods. And I think it is selfish of me to wish that Ari was here with me.No she deserved to be happy. She had spent almost a year in hideouts and reservations. Moving constantly in order to keep herself and her son safe. And of course, I was her responsibility too.I cannot imagine how pissed she would be to find out I left Blood-crest pack without telling her where I was off to or what I intended to do. But I told Kael. Kael who I handed over Lucian too making him promise to take care of my big

CHAPTER 32Arianna's POV:Aa expected I settled in easily with Kael. His chambers was not entirely big as a reigning Alpha's lodge. I commented this and he quickly said if I needed a change he could have them tear down the whole thing and make a new one.But I did not want a change. This was family size comforting and I liked it that way. Not until now did I realize just how down to earth Kael is. He does not have maids or servants waiting on him.“What are we like in? The 50’s where slave trade was paramount?” He'd occasionally say with a snort. This was like a personal conviction because he did not make it a rule in the pack to ban maids and promote independent living. Maybe he was still working on that?He did his own laundry. Made his own meals and only ate out when he had to stay long hours at his office. The guards were the only staff in his residence. I had somehow watched their number double the moment I moved in with Evan. He is trying to protect us. To keep us safe. To be th

CHAPTER 31Arianna's POV:I stagger back. It is not a very smooth move because Kael notices and steadies me readily. His smile is so wide and eager. That I smile back to reassure him I was good. However, the moment I tear my eyes from his, I find the seer staring at me. His entire self is screaming a warning so jolting I do not bother to steady myself when I stagger this time.I do not care how many people are staring at me right now. I just need to get away from this man's gaze. This time I slip out of Kael's firm but steady hold and make away from the crowd. It is a good thing I trust Kael to protect Lucian from the crowd whose intentions were not clear and would never be. I am obviously not a very trusting person and most times I feel crossed at my self about that. There were times I felt good about my trust issues. Like it was some wall I was putting up to avoid hurt but now those walls were crumbling and I was worried I'd die from the falling stone or I could use them as stepping

Arianna's POV:I smile up at the moon goddess and I cannot believe she smiles back as she slowly disappears. I try finding Austin in the entire chaos. When I see him I jump and wave out if excitement. He came over and by the time he got there.“It's over sis. It is over for real”. He was saying and I was laughing so hard and heartedly for the first time since the whole chaos began. He joined in the laughter and soon we are hugging each other jumping around like we did as kids.I laugh so hard there are literally tears in my eyes. The excitement in my heart knew no bounds. How did our entire problems of how long become solved just like that.“So what next?” I ask Austin when we are finally calm to think straight. His smile declines when he says “I would go back to moon pack. Now that our enemies are gone, it is time to rebuild a pack that has been long forgotten.”“I would go with you” I say. He pauses and stares at me like I have lost my mind. “Go where? No way you're coming with me
