Another day at the Daciana Stadium, and things seemed to be looking up. The players weren’t giving me the nasty eyes anymore, and no one asked me out. No doubt that had something to do with Captain Maverick.

He’s incredibly handsome, protective, yet also infuriating and funny.

Was I really falling for this guy?

I folded the clean towels from my office as I thought about him. He needed to know about Gage. I would explain to him how none of this was our fault. It was the moon goddess’s fault.

My phone rang and I picked it up. It was Evyn.

“I thought we were best friends, Odessa. How long have we known each other? We never keep secrets.”

I battled to hide the smile. “I’m not keeping secrets from you.”

“Then how could you let me find out something was going between you and Alpha Maverick on my own!”

“Because it’s complicated. It’s kind of a secret.”

Evyn was quiet for a moment. “Why?”

“He says it’s complicated. I don’t mind. I don’t want all the attention.”
