Odessa POV

“Just let me see it.”

“No, I’ll wait for the nurse.”

“I’m more than qualified to look at you.”

He snorted. I gasped.

“Okay, I’m sorry mate. Of course, you’re qualified. You’re more than qualified to make me feel good.”

Maverick was the one who confronted his uncle, but I was the one shaking. How did I expect to examine his wounds like this?

I stared at the door. What if Seth came back?

“What do you think he’s going to do?” I asked.

Maverick grimaced. “He’s harmless.”

“Harmless? He knew you were injured but slammed you against the door.”

“Come on, Odessa. That was hardly anything.”

“Has he…” I hesitated before I finished my sentence. We rarely spoke about his Uncle. Maverick wasn’t affectionate towards him either. “Has he ever hit you before?”

I watched as he curled his hands into fists. “He has. It doesn’t matter. I probably deserved it.”

“You’re defending him?” I gasped.

“He raised me when my dad died. I’m sure my dad would have slapped me upside the head if he needed to.”

  • The Quarterback's Omega Mate   Chapter 56-- Sienna

Sienna POVWarm and inviting faces welcomed us into the party. The music was loud and the drinks were flowing like the sea outside.Brandon threw unforgettable parties. I wasn’t here for him. I had my own agenda tonight. While the others went ahead of me, I paused to address my phone, which hadn’t stopped buzzing since I stepped out of the car. I didn’t need to have psychic abilities to know who was blowing up my phone.Mom.“Why haven’t you returned my calls today, Sienna?”“Where are you?” “You should be taking things more seriously, young lady. The Autumn festival is less than two months away! It’s weeks away. You need to be prepared.” My mother was prone to panicking. The eighty-first autumn festival was a significant day, and it was coming fast. I’d known about it my whole life, and I wouldn’t mess things up now. However, I always knew my fated mate would show up, and now he had.I wasn’t going to lose him.If I didn’t text her back, I wouldn’t hear the end of things.“I am ser

  • The Quarterback's Omega Mate   Chapter 55

Odessa POVI watched Maverick stoke the fire in the fireplace as the bitter winter wind blew outside.I snuggled beneath the blanket. Maverick returned to sit next to me. He dragged my leg over his thigh and exhaled.“My Luna.”“My Alpha,” I giggled. “It feels so weird to hear.”“You have to get used to it, Wildcat. This pack is just as much yours as it is mine.”“I wish someone held classes for incoming Lunas.”He chuckled. “You’re perfect, forget about everything else.”He leaned forward and kissed my forehead.“The pack doctor said Gage’s awake. He left as soon as he could. The bastard doesn’t think anything’s wrong with him.”I looked up at Mav’s worried face. “What did the doctor say?”“He took some blood samples. He’s taking them to Rex. He’ll get back to us in a few days. Speaking of Rex, I want us to go see him, too.”“Us? Why do we need to see him?”He pressed his lips together before he responded. “Because there’s something I found out about you. I’ve been putting this off,

  • The Quarterback's Omega Mate   Chapter 54

Maverick POV“Keep your heads in the game! These motherfuckers didn’t come to play football. They came for blood.”The roars of our supporters threatened to drown out my voice, but my players got the message. After Gage was stretchered off, River, the reserve wide receiver, replaced him. He’s fucked. He’s too small and scrawny. These guys are going to devour him.“Yes, captain,” the battle cry rang out.“Get Storm the ball. Protect the wide receiver and don’t get hurt,” I ordered. The Serpents scored two since they took out Gage, but we were still in the lead.“Ready to end this, captain?” A Serpent's player barked out a laugh.“That was a shit move and you know it.”The final quarter of the game was upon us. These guys thought they could wear us out with their crushing tackles all game and claw back victory from the jaws of defeat in the dying seconds. That won’t happen as long as I’m captain.I caught Storm’s attention. The Daciana Fab Three had been dismembered, but the show must g

Odessa POV“I’m Kevin Topaz, the official communication officer of the Daciana Pack council. You and Alpha Maverick are requested to be in front of the council right now.”“You know that’s impossible. He’s not going to leave the game.”Kevin nodded. “I do. You have to convince him to be at the meeting. Everyone’s there already.”“Is it so important?”Kevin nodded. “Get him there after the game. Everyone else will have to wait for him.”Kevin left after delivering his message.“Crap,” I muttered.I hurried inside the stadium. I made it to the VIP area just as the players took to the field.Evyn and I got to our feet at once to cheer them on.Captain Maverick led the team. The stadium lights gleam on him like a spotlight on the stage. It could be because I only have eyes for him.The referee blew his whistle and set the game into motion. The crowd erupted into applause and chants. The ground beneath my feet trembled, and it was incredible!“I don’t think I can watch more of this,” Evyn

  • The Quarterback's Omega Mate   Chapter 52

Odessa POVOnce Maverick was gone, I had a very awkward conversation with my mother about how I was in a relationship with Alpha Maverick. By the end of our two-hour conversation, she was already planning our mating ceremony.I was exhausted when I walked upstairs to my bedroom. It had been a long day.“You smell like him,” a small, fragile voice said.I turned and found Sienna standing in the doorway, her small frame framed by the dim light from the hall.“What?” I asked. Her nose and cheeks were bright red. Her eyes and lashes were damp.“Did something happen?”She scowled. I remained still, watching and waiting to see how this situation would unfold. Sienna and my relationship had taken a turn for the better since she found out about Maverick and me. However, she was still a cold and cunning person who didn’t want me in her life to begin with. She could go back to being the same person who humiliated and abused me.“What’s between you and Ryder?” She demanded. My jaw dropped, and I

  • The Quarterback's Omega Mate   Chapter 51

Odessa POVI took the bus to meet Ryder at the local park. He was waiting for me when I arrived. He had the envelope with him.I nibbled on my bottom lip.“Hi,” I said nervously.Ryder’s features were dark and stiff. There was no beating around the bush with him this time.“Ready?”“As I’ll ever be,” I said.He ripped the envelope open and pulled out the piece of paper. I bit down on my nails as Ryder read the results. My vision blurred, and my legs felt like jelly.Ryder put the envelope and piece of paper down and exhaled deeply.“Well, we’re not siblings.”My heart shattered, and the fragments sank to my stomach.“We’re not?”He shook his head.“We’re first cousins.” A small smile spread on his face.I placed a hand over my heart that suddenly came back to life.“I knew it,” Ryder beamed.“Oh my gosh, so who are your father’s siblings?”Ryder rubbed his hands and stared at the grass as if it were the most interesting thing in the world.“That’s the thing. He doesn’t have any siblin
