The clinking of glass had become the most normal thing for the past one week in my life and what I dreaded the most because more visitors meant more pain. “I just got a pet,” I heard my owner say, and my heart dropped. Not again… I couldn't go through it any more today. The curtain to the cage that I was locked up moved and my owner came into view; a short man that was drowning in jewelry and an expensive yellow robe. “She's a fine and young one,” the visitor who was way taller than him said before he squatted to study me better. I tried to use my legs to cover my naked body, but that only earned me cat calls from other spectators. “Blood type.” The question made my heart thump fast because I knew what would come next after that. “Rh-null.” The proud tone William had used to answer made me so disgusted and knowing what was going to come next made me want to end my life on the spot. “How is that possible?" The bald man who was still peering into the cage asked with disbelief clearly written on his face. Please don't suggest it. Please don't suggest it. “Do you want to find out?” William asked the question that had become a routine at this point. The man seemed to think about it for a while before licking his lips, probably trying to imagine what my blood tasted like. Okay, this might be kind of confusing since I haven't fully introduced my owner, Baron Williams. Apparently, anyone who owns several estates is respected and given the title Baron in this world. A world where vampires and other supernatural beings live. At first, I believed that it was just the lack of pills that was making me hallucinate that part, but after being drank from by several people to the extent I had several injuries everywhere, I knew that this was really my current situation. “Justin, unlock the pet's cage.” On cue, Justin, who had been my arch enemy even though he was just doing his job, unlocked the cage, making me scramble back. William had been unable to break me ever since I was brought to him, so he had vowed to let everyone drink from me until I didn't resist anymore. Justin's thin body loomed over mine before he finally bent and tried to pick me up. “Let me go,” I screamed and tried to claw at Justin, who managed to overpower me and drag me out as usual. I screamed and cried at the top of my lungs and it only got worse when my skin touched a cold body that definitely belonged to a vampire. “Please, don't,” I whimpered when the vampire forcefully turned my head to the side so that he could have access to my neck. A sharp pain shot through my neck when the vampire roughly sunk his teeth into my neck and drank from me. I continued to try to get out of his grasp but that only made my skin tear more as he continued to drink hungrily while William's familiar laughter echoed in the background. By the time he was done - or so I thought - I could feel my consciousness slipping away as my body was unable to take the throbbing pain. Everyone seemed to be amused by what was happening as they all laughed along with the man and just when I had only managed to get a bit far from the vampire before he held me by the leg and dragged me back. Horror filled me when I knew what was about to happen. Men like him are never satisfied with the amount of blood that they've gotten from me because I have a rare blood type that they've never come across. “William,” I begged with a cracked voice for my owner's help even though I knew it was useless. Another round of torture soon began when the vampire sniffed around my boobs, probably looking for the right vein, then paused and let out a scary chuckle. “What's happening here?” A deep voice that seemed strangely familiar said just when he was about to sink his teeth. I couldn't be more grateful even though I knew that the whole torture would continue once the person left. Everyone in the room bowed their heads and that made me curious to see who dared to make William so humble. “Lord Lucien,” William greeted with a grim look while the vampire that had me in his hands tightened his grip on me to the extent I let out a cry of pain. From what I could see, it was obvious that everyone in this room hated the unknown man that commanded so much authority. “Who is that?” William hesitated for a split second before he moved out of the way and revealed who I least expected to ever see again in my life. It was my red-eyed captor, dressed in a black coat that covered the main attire with his black hair sitting obediently in a place. The hope felt for a second in my heart crushed in a second since it was his brother that sold me off. My breath got caught in my throat and I didn’t look away even though I felt intimidated, especially when he made eye contact. “What were you doing?” he asked William, although his eyes were still on me. I felt really exposed and conscious of my body, so I struggled against the vampire that just drank from me, but he didn't let me go. “Let her go,” my captor called Lucien, commanded in a voice that thundered across every corner of the room. The vampire didn't think twice before he let me go and stood up, leaving to cover the puncture on my neck that was still bleeding a bit. “Come here,” he said to me and for the first time since I've been thrown into this world, I didn't hesitate to run towards a vampire for help. I had no idea who he truly was, but if he asked me to follow him, I wouldn't think twice because my best option was to go with him, then try to cope with whatever I met at his home as long as it wasn't worse than this. “I'll take her with me.”Lucien's POV:Duncan slowly dropped the glass cup in his hand, his eyes not leaving me for a second. To think he thought he had been able to keep it hidden from me for years made me irritated. He laughed with me after he slept with someone I loved. Called himself my friend and now, he was about to start it all over again.I wasn't going to let him even though I had no plans to make Freya min-“Lucien, you didn’t let her die on purpose, did you?” My body stiffened as the irritation I felt slowly brewed into anger in my chest. How dare he! That was the best he could do after I just called him out for the most disgusting thing a friend could do. “I swear to God, I'll drain your life source right now i-“Enough with it boys,” a voice interrupted before the owner showed up.It was Sophie and behind her was… Freya?!!Panic filled my chest as I sat up, watching both of them walk slowly towards us.Her facial expression was blank and no matter how much I tried to read her, I couldn't. It
Lucien's POV: I squished on it, watching the bodily fluid ooze out of it as I waited for the guard’s arrival.I hated this place a lot, but I had no choice… not when Freya was in Duncan's custody and I knew what they were, or at least, I had a hunch. There was a possibility that I was wrong, but I didn't want to take any risk. It made no sense to me why I wanted to keep Freya away from him, especially if they were what I suspected them to be.My world wasn't like this. She was definitely tilting it, and it was getting out of control. The best thing would be to give her up b-“The poor insect,” I heard Duncan say before I saw him.I didn't mutter a word in reply and just stared at him, trying to figure him out. Duncan usually has a facial expression, but today wasn't one of those days.Something was definitely wrong.Could it be that she… I didn't want to overthink things because I wasn't meant to care. “Where is she?” I asked him when the guards finally let me step into their land,
Freya's POV:“Are you my brother's new whore?” She asked with a smirk.I didn't know if the fact that Duncan had a sister was more shocking than the fact that she looked nothing like him. There seemed to be no hostile air around her, but I didn't want to conclude so quickly. She walked towards the chair right next to the bed and sat carelessly, yet elegantly. She was intimidating to an extent.I managed to sit up better and stared at her, looking away when she caught my eyes on her.“You do not seem to be a werewolf,” she muttered as if she was studying an experiment. Her finger slowly rested on her olive-skinned cheeks as she seemed to be deep in thought.“Has his taste changed so much since the last time I saw him?” I shifted on the bed, waiting for her to take her leave, but she seemed so relaxed, and I knew straight up that she wasn't going anywhere.“I didn't sleep with him,” I said out of nowhere.I didn't like the impression she had of me even though she didn't matter at all.
Lucien's POV:“She's not back,” the servant before me said, his voice quivering as if he was cold.I dropped my pen down, completely expressionless as I stared at him. He bowed his head lower, scared of meeting my eyes.Only one person had that much audacity and thankfully, he was in his pack.“What's that supposed to mean?” I asked him, my voice cold and stable but my heart wasn't.Freya was smart to an extent, so she definitely knew better than to run away because she wouldn't survive a day out there. Has she been kidnapped? She had her own way of standing out, so I wouldn't be surprised if she caught a trafficker’s attention.“She hasn't returned, my Lord.”I let out a deep breath as I tried to remain sane. This was all on me because if I hadn't given the free day, this wouldn't have happened.“Laura has contacted the witch t-I furrowed my brow as my worry slowly brewed into anger.“Why does Laura know about this before me?” The servant before me took a large gulp as he shrunk b
Freya's POV:It looked oddly familiar.A squint was enough for me to remember where I was. I was back at home. Was this real? It looked real, but how could I be so sure when my new friend wasn't even real? There was no way I was going to ever trust myself anymore. The sitting room was just like how I had remembered it.Alcohol bottles everywhere while the couch looked in disarray. A crashing sound from the bedroom caught my attention, so I walked towards it. My footsteps made no sound but I could hear my heart thumping loudly.“Don't you get it, you this freak?” It wasn't my father's angry voice that made me gasp, it was those words.I could remember them as clearly as day.I could hear myself breathing heavily as I reached for the doorknob to check what was happening inside.I guessed right. It was a memory.I was kneeling in pink shorts and a matching tank top with my hand clasped against my left cheek, which was definitely red.My disheveled hair was enough to tell that I had
Freya's POV:Lucien had given all the slaves a free day except the pets.A part of me felt like it had to do with me, but I felt like I was being ahead of myself.“Can you believe this? I heard it has never happened before,” Amara said with excitement splayed all over her face.I gave her a little smile, the hair on my back standing when she moved closer to me.Something was weird about her, but I couldn't figure out what it was.“You look pretty in it,” she added, showing the stiff guards our pass.I looked down at the purple dress I was in. It wasn't really my style, but I had nothing to wear, so I had to accept the dress designed in lace from Amara. She herself had something similar on but hers was white. I would never understand why she thought wearing white on a day like this was a good idea.“You may go,” the guards said begrudgingly, opening the gate for us.The moment my feet planted themselves outside the large estate, they refused to move.Amara, who was far ahead, must have
