Mag-log inFreya's POV:
“Are you my brother's new whore?” She asked with a smirk. I didn't know if the fact that Duncan had a sister was more shocking than the fact that she looked nothing like him. There seemed to be no hostile air around her, but I didn't want to conclude so quickly. She walked towards the chair right next to the bed and sat carelessly, yet elegantly. She was intimidating to an extent. I managed to sit up better and stared at her, looking away when she caught my eyes on her. “You do not seem to be a werewolf,” she muttered as if she was studying an experiment. Her finger slowly rested on her olive-skinned cheeks as she seemed to be deep in thought. “Has his taste changed so much since the last time I saw him?” I shifted on the bed, waiting for her to take her leave, but she seemed so relaxed, and I knew straight up that she wasn't going anywhere. “I didn't sleep with him,” I said out of nowhere. I didn't like the impression she had of me even though she didn't matter at all. A chuckle from her made me spare her a glance. A frown appeared on my face as I tried to figure out what was so funny about my statement. She stopped and looked at me with a brow raised, then burst out laughing again. There was something about her attitude that got on my nerves to the extent that I had to remind myself that I was now in a different world. “But you're going to,” she said with a deadpan look like she was spitting out facts. Her words hit me in the face and I looked away with a bit of shame. She was right to an extent. I was sure that if Duncan actually flirted with me, I would easily fall for him even though he has done nothing but treated me badly. “Stay away from that kid… he's problematic.” Her eyes were on the door and it seemed like she was deep in thoughts. She suddenly seemed older than I would have imagined and that made me realise that she was his elder sister. What exactly was wrong with Duncan that made her give me such a warning? Why did they all have something to hide?... both Duncan and Lucien. “What d- The room's door opened and revealed Duncan with the nurse behind him. His face darkened when they fell on his sister. The tension that suddenly filled the room was enough for me to guess their type of relationship. They definitely hated each other. “What are you doing here?” he asked as he strode towards us. This was the second time I saw him this way, and it made me realise that I didn't know much about him. “Came to greet my lovely elder brother,” she said with a fake smile. I had guessed wrong. She was his younger sister. “I'm no brother of yours,” he spat back, his eyes drifting to me for just a second. I suddenly felt like I had been dropped into a drama that already has about five seasons, and it left me feeling out of place. “Give her the water and leave,” he instructed the nurse without glancing at him. The nurse stiffly gave me the water as if he knew what was going on. Of course, he was in this pack, so it wasn't a surprise. “Follow him,” Duncan ordered, but his sister didn't move a step. It was as if she was daring him and that made me wonder what exactly caused so much hostility. “Does father know?” Her question was straightforward, but it seemed cryptic at the same time. As if Duncan was doing something wrong and only both of them knew. Duncan clenched his jaw, the subtle anger on his face wavering a bit, as if she suddenly reminded him of something important. I knew that this wasn't the best time to ask questions, but I couldn't stop myself. “Does it have to do with me?” My voice was low, but they seemed to have heard my question. “No.” “Yes,” Duncan's sister said at the same time. I knew who to believe. “Leave here right now, Sophie,” Duncan said impatiently, and his sister seemed to have noticed how serious he was this time. “Duncan, fath- “Get the fuck out right now,” Duncan said with a loud growl that made me freeze in fear. Sophie let out a sigh then walked out of the room, but not before sparing her brother a glance and narrowing her eyes at me. When I was sure that she was gone, I turned to Duncan with the most serious look I could pull off and asked, “What's happening?” Duncan stiffened a bit before he turned to me with a guarded look and shook his head. I knew this too well because Lucien had also done it. “Dun- “Please, I can't do this right now,” he cut me off, the rejection hitting me hard in the chest. “Why? If it has to do with me, then I have every right to- “Freya,” he cut me off once more, but I wasn't going to let it go. “This isn't fair to me. First, you sold me ou- “Go to bed.” His voice was cold this time, and it seemed like a warning. He stared down at me with a look that dared me to defy him. I tried to force myself to talk, but it seemed like my vocals knew better. All of a sudden, it felt like I didn't know Duncan and that was when I realised… I actually do not know Duncan. “Sleep, okay?” His voice was suddenly soft, as if he was trying to make up for silently threatening me. He hesitated a bit, looking around as if this wasn't his space before he gave me a nod and walked out. I stared at him and still didn't look away from the door even long after he had left. I hated this. I hated how they easily hid things from me and could get away with it. But what exactly could I do about it? From nowhere, Amara’s face appeared in my mind and made me think… what would Amara have done? I knew the answer pretty well and the best thing was to wait until tomorrow. With a plan that wasn't foolproof in my head, I went to bed and put everything behind me for now.Freya's POV:The rejection had hit me hard in the face that my embarrassment wouldn't make me face Lucien anymore. It was hard but for the past few days, I've successfully avoided him with Nora's help. She knew something was going on but didn't ask questions.I haven't been seeing things anymore and it was probably because Nora gave me my medication. I didn't have to ask who it was from.I had that figured out already. Currently, we were all gathered around the largest counter and dropping our latest gossip. The vampires apparently have a meeting and we hardly have any hovering around us which we were grateful for.Well, I was especially grateful that Laura wasn't anywhere close by. Thinking about it, I've not seen her ever since I returned.“I heard Baron Stephen was demoted after that incident,” a pet muttered and gasp filled the kitchen.I had surely missed a lot since I didn't know the incident she was talking about. With a sigh, I stood up and quietly left their midst. It was cl
Freya's POV:“What do you mean?” Duncan asked as he stood up.I wasn't sure if I was supposed to follow, so instead, I sat quietly and listened to their conversation. After all, they were doing a good job acting as if I didn't exist.“I'm taking her back. Is that so hard to comprehend?” Lucien replied with obvious irritation. He glanced at me and nodded, so I jumped on my feet. Duncan looked between both of us, obviously torn. “Human world?” he asked at the same time his back went stiff. I felt my heart stop as I waited for Lucien's response. For some reason, he seemed to love the suspense and took his sweet time.“My estate.”The tension released my heart and my organs started to function properly once more. Lucien cocked his head to the side as if he was studying me.My hand instinctively covered my body at the same time, the arousal I felt left. Why was he acting like he didn't catch me almost making out with his childhood friend? But then again, everything about this place was
Freya's POV:My eyes darted away as I stared into space. I could feel my cheeks get hot and my palms sweaty.“I-i don't know what you're talking about,” I muttered.Duncan let out a chuckle that made me look a bit in his direction for just a split second. What does he think of me? He clearly saw what I had done with Lucien the other day.I wanted to tell him that I wasn't promiscuous, but the words refused to come out.“If you say so,” he said.I should have been relieved that he dropped it, but it didn't sit right with me. I pressed my hands against my knees to stay quiet. It didn't work. “It's not what you're thinking.”Duncan's eyes stayed on me as he played with his lips. I couldn't keep up anymore with the deafening silence and looked away.“What do you think is going on in my head?” he asked and I froze. His face was blank, so trying to figure out what he was thinking was useless.“That I'm promiscuous,” I muttered in barely a whisper.I looked away when his expression didn't ch
Freya's POV:The ceremony started once the sun set and the moon rose. It was a full moon and from what Sopgie had told me they held this ceremony whenever there was a full moon.“Sit here and don't move around unnecessarily,” Sophie had instructed before she joined the procession.I was currently obeying her instruction although I was getting weird glances. At first I wondered why until I realised that all slaves sat behind. I wanted to move but for some reason, it felt like Sophie had her eyes on me from where she was seated.“Who gather here to worship the loon goddess,” the Alpha started. He seemed to have a limp that wasn't obvious if he didn't move around a lot.The elders were right behind him while the Alpha's family sat in front.I didn't recognise any other person apart from Duncan and Sophie. Bruno wasn't here.It was as if he didn't exist and everyone seemed to find it normal.I had waited for one of the side gossips but it never came. “We worship her for giving us victo
Freya's POV:We're trying to send you back to your world. My heart went still at that moment as I stared at him blankly.“W-what do you mean by that?” I finally croaked out, talking a large gulp of nothing.Duncan sat forward, his brows etched as he looked conflicted.I was supposed to be happy so why wasn't I? This was literally the best time to leave this fucked up place.“Freya…” he started but trailed off.I watched him rub his hand over his face, waiting for his response. “Things are going to get really awful here and you might lose your life,” he finally said, looking me straight in the eyes.I clenched my hands resting on my thighs to maintain composure.“And things might turn out good if you and Lord Lucien stop hiding things from me,” I muttered.I could feel my eyes wavering so I looked away, staring at the door.I heard Duncan let out a deep sigh and some shuffling. Within a minute, he was standing right in front of meI went still with my eyes wide open. This was the firs
Lucien's POV:“What did he do to you?” I asked in a whisper, my eyes wide open as I stared at her.Mother was supposed to be very old and close to death but she was the opposite. If no one knew her, she would pass as my sister. She bowed her head as if covered in shame and picked on her finger. My hands that were on the cell gate shook violently.“I'm going to kill him,” I said with anger, my eyes refusing to stay in one place. Her skin wasn't only fresh but also had red spots from the sunlight. I knew that was painful because it took a while for me to get used to my new life.“Lucien, wait.” Her fragile hand held me down and even though I could have pulled away, I didn't. My heart ached for who she was now because I knew the repercussions. “Why are you stopping me from tearing him apart?” I asked with a sigh, refusing to look at her.She tugged on my shirt but I stayed still. I could have stopped this if I confronted him earlier. The pain I felt made my lungs lock up and I couldn'
Freya's POV:It looked oddly familiar.A squint was enough for me to remember where I was. I was back at home. Was this real? It looked real, but how could I be so sure when my new friend wasn't even real? There was no way I was going to ever trust myself anymore. The sitting room was just like
Freya's POV:Lucien had given all the slaves a free day except the pets.A part of me felt like it had to do with me, but I felt like I was being ahead of myself.“Can you believe this? I heard it has never happened before,” Amara said with excitement splayed all over her face.I gave her a little
Freya's POV:My cheeks still stung but the embarrassment I felt was way worse. No one in the kitchen gave two hoots about me, but I couldn't say the slaves outside. The stares I was getting made me wonder if it was so obvious that I went through Laura's brutality. My hands on the tray clenched hard
Lucien's POV:“She's not back,” the servant before me said, his voice quivering as if he was cold.I dropped my pen down, completely expressionless as I stared at him. He bowed his head lower, scared of meeting my eyes.Only one person had that much audacity and thankfully, he was in his pack.“Wha
