Se connecterFreya's POV:
My eyes darted away as I stared into space. I could feel my cheeks get hot and my palms sweaty. “I-i don't know what you're talking about,” I muttered. Duncan let out a chuckle that made me look a bit in his direction for just a split second. What does he think of me? He clearly saw what I had done with Lucien the other day. I wanted to tell him that I wasn't promiscuous, but the words refused to come out. “If you say so,” he said. I should have been relieved that he dropped it, but it didn't sit right with me. I pressed my hands against my knees to stay quiet. It didn't work. “It's not what you're thinking.” Duncan's eyes stayed on me as he played with his lips. I couldn't keep up anymore with the deafening silence and looked away. “What do you think is going on in my head?” he asked and I froze. His face was blank, so trying to figure out what he was thinking was useless. “That I'm promiscuous,” I muttered in barely a whisper. I looked away when his expression didn't change because I was sure he had heard. He is a werewolf after all. “I know,” he said, and I whipped my head back at him. His face seemed calm, but his brows were slightly pinched together. The tip of his thumb was sitting on his lips as he stared intensely. I cleared my throat then asked, “What do you mean?” My voice didn't sound like mine and that was enough to let me know how heated this conversation was going. Was he feeling it though? It didn't seem like he was flirting? My eyes swept across his body in a second, then back to his face. I wasn't sure if he caught me this time. Just when I was about to forget the conversation, Duncan said, “You're a virgin.” I couldn't have sworn my heart stopped beating at the same time my eyes went wide. The room felt smaller and I swallowed hard. I hadn't told anyone that yet… “No,” I lied through my teeth and a smile appeared on his face. I knew that was a stupid move. “There's no need for the lies,” he said and my whole face went hot at that instant. How did he figure it out? “That's probably why Lucien wants to send you back before he loses it,” he said, but it seemed more like he was talking to himself. My brows etched at the statement that caught my attention. “What do you mean?” The air in the room shifted, and this tension wasn't the serial one I felt earlier. Duncan diverted his eyes and let out a sigh but didn't say a word. “We don't want you stuck in our crazy world and exploiting you just to send you back would be wrong,” he said. “Why is sleeping with me exploitation?” I blurted without thinking. Duncan seemed to take a minute before he replied, “Because you're probably just attracted to us since you never get to see anyone else.” I tilted my head, wondering which part of his statement I should focus on. It made sense to an extent, but I didn't fully agree with them. Just like I had complained to him earlier, both of them know nothing about me and just love to assume. “I'm not attracted to you,” I said, narrowing my eyes. Duncan let out a scoff, then nodded. I couldn't help but feel insulted, so I let out my own scoff. “I guess we will have to find another explanation for the reason you spread your legs for Lucien.” His statement made my eyes go wide, and I let out a series of sounds I couldn't explain. “That's not true. I didn't sleep with him,” I said on the top of my lungs. Duncan gave me a weird look and then burst out laughing. “I never said you did,” he said, still laughing. I should have been mad, but he looked so attractive with the glint that appeared in his eyes. “I simply said you spread your legs for him,” he continued, his left brow twitching with amusement. The smile on his lips caught my attention for a while before I shook my head. “He needed blood,” I still tried to defend myself. “And your legs were the only option,” he replied almost immediately. I watched him as I wondered if he was jealous or not. During our little argument, the space between us had closed to an extent. That could be the only explanation behind why everywhere felt hotter, and I could feel his hands close to my neck. “You're in my space,” I said to him, a little smile playing on my lips. I loved this version of Duncan, and he seemed to enjoy being himself too. He leaned further and I could suddenly feel his breath fanning against my face. For a second, I didn't know what to do apart from staring and when I finally did, I didn't move. The lights in my head alerted me loudly, but I couldn't stop staring at his lips. “Why? Are you scared of falling more?” That was supposed to make me shove him away. Instead, I shut my legs tighter to stop the pulsating feeling. Duncan's eyes went low and when he looked back up, there was a smile tugging on his lips. His hands behind my back softly touched my neck as if it was porcelain. My heart froze but jumped loudly at the same time. “What are you… I trailed off having nothing more to say when he leaned closer with his lips brushing against mine. I clenched my hands that were sitting on my laps and closed my eyes shut, oblivious to everything but his lips and scent. “As much as I don't want to be a party popper, the party is over,” a familiar voice said and I snapped my eyes open. Right behind Duncan, Lucien was standing with a dark expression that made me panic and dart my eyes to Duncan. He gave me a little smile then leaned away with a sigh. “You always pick the wrong time to intrude,” Duncan muttered. I couldn't tell if he was just stirring up trouble, or if he just didn't see how pissed Lucien was. “Freya.” My back straightened, but I couldn't look at him. Everything felt strange, especially how calm he was. “We're going home,” he said, and I whipped my head up in surprise. What did he mean? Even Duncan was surprised.Freya's POV:My eyes darted away as I stared into space. Freya's POV:The ceremony started once the sun set and the moon rose. It was a full moon and from what Sopgie had told me they held this ceremony whenever there was a full moon.“Sit here and don't move around unnecessarily,” Sophie had instructed before she joined the procession.I was currently obeying her instruction although I was getting weird glances. At first I wondered why until I realised that all slaves sat behind. I wanted to move but for some reason, it felt like Sophie had her eyes on me from where she was seated.“Who gather here to worship the loon goddess,” the Alpha started. He seemed to have a limp that wasn't obvious if he didn't move around a lot.The elders were right behind him while the Alpha's family sat in front.I didn't recognise any other person apart from Duncan and Sophie. Bruno wasn't here.It was as if he didn't exist and everyone seemed to find it normal.I had waited for one of the side gossips but it never came. “We worship her for giving us victo
Freya's POV:We're trying to send you back to your world. My heart went still at that moment as I stared at him blankly.“W-what do you mean by that?” I finally croaked out, talking a large gulp of nothing.Duncan sat forward, his brows etched as he looked conflicted.I was supposed to be happy so why wasn't I? This was literally the best time to leave this fucked up place.“Freya…” he started but trailed off.I watched him rub his hand over his face, waiting for his response. “Things are going to get really awful here and you might lose your life,” he finally said, looking me straight in the eyes.I clenched my hands resting on my thighs to maintain composure.“And things might turn out good if you and Lord Lucien stop hiding things from me,” I muttered.I could feel my eyes wavering so I looked away, staring at the door.I heard Duncan let out a deep sigh and some shuffling. Within a minute, he was standing right in front of meI went still with my eyes wide open. This was the firs
Lucien's POV:“What did he do to you?” I asked in a whisper, my eyes wide open as I stared at her.Mother was supposed to be very old and close to death but she was the opposite. If no one knew her, she would pass as my sister. She bowed her head as if covered in shame and picked on her finger. My hands that were on the cell gate shook violently.“I'm going to kill him,” I said with anger, my eyes refusing to stay in one place. Her skin wasn't only fresh but also had red spots from the sunlight. I knew that was painful because it took a while for me to get used to my new life.“Lucien, wait.” Her fragile hand held me down and even though I could have pulled away, I didn't. My heart ached for who she was now because I knew the repercussions. “Why are you stopping me from tearing him apart?” I asked with a sigh, refusing to look at her.She tugged on my shirt but I stayed still. I could have stopped this if I confronted him earlier. The pain I felt made my lungs lock up and I couldn'
Freya's POV:“Sophie, I'm so sorry about it,” I said immediately we got into the room. She didn't utter a word around and just kept pacing around, making me anxious. The only thing I could do was play with my dress. “Why did you go there?” The glare she threw my way made me shrink back.“I…” there was no excuse I could give. I knew that I wasn't supposed to be there so I couldn't feign ignorance. It might even annoy her more.“Duncan needs to hear about this,” she muttered to herself. My eyes went wide, not knowing how to react. It felt like a good thing but I couldn't shake off the feeling. I didn't say a word and watched her bring out a cellphone which left me a bit shocked. I would have probably asked her questions about where she got one if the situation was different.“Duncan, I'm bringing your mate to you,” she said the moment he picked up.She didn't wait for him to say a word before she ended it and turned to me. My back straightened immediately and I kept my hands folded i
Lucien's POV:“Have you gotten it?” Duncan asked, breathing heavily through the line.I glanced at the pass in my hand and twirled it before lying, “No.”“Why hasn't he given you though?”Ignoring his question, I brought up the reason I had called him. “How is Freya?”The line went silent for so long that I had to take the phone from my ear in confusion. We were still connected.“Duncan?” I called.I had an idea of what the silence meant but I still wanted him to admit it.“I really don't know,” he said with a distressed tone.I was relieved but pissed at the same time. I knew better than to show it because I wasn't any better than him.“Why?” He has been avoiding her the same way I've been doing. My eyes drifted to the pass once more and I let out a sigh at the same time Duncan did the same.“You have the pass, don't you?” It wasn't a surprise that he had caught on but that didn't mean I was going to admit it.The door to my study opened and I glanced up, my heart falling immediate
