“We gave chase and have a few prisoners,” Urien says.

“How many?” I ask.

“Four.”

“Break them. Find out everything you can, and make sure we have enough men guarding the border tonight.”

He lowers his head. “Yes, Alpha.”

I turn from my men and begin walking through the camp. It spreads across rough ground, filled with tents and smoky fires. The air smells of wood smoke and boiled food. It hums with tension.
